Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The greatest songs ever?.......2007-07-26

I heard 'clear or cloudy', from this recording, on the radio recently and had to purchase it. It is strange but it is the sort of song that makes life prior to listening to it different from life after. I find it sad that so many people haven't heard it. There are also many other wonderful works in this collection. Given you get twelve well recorded CDs with top quality performances, this has to be one of the bargains of the age.

Please buy it.

5 out of 5 stars A musical treasure-box.......2006-09-10

Both the music and this actual product are masterpieces. John Dowland's collected works here - covering 12 compact discs - exhibit the depth and power of this composer, a composer who many now regard as suffering from clinical depression. I doubt that the issue of the diagnosis of Dowland's depression can ever be settled, however, it is certainly obvious from his music, so completely on display here, that he was a man with very dark depths and corners in his mind. Dowland's various manifestations and "takes" on his own tune, "Flow my tears"/"Lachrimae" are here. This tune has haunted me ever since I first heard it when I was a child. It seems to sum up Dowland's feelings - at least Dowland seems to have thought so.

The First, Second, Third and Fourth Bookes of Songes, A Musicall Banquet, the keyboard transcriptions, all the lute music, consort music are here and virtually everything else written or supposedly written by John Dowland. Anthony Rooley and The Consort of Musicke perform this music with style and feeling throughout. This 12 CD set is something of a monument to the ensemble - I only wish they'd finished their collection of Monteverdi madrigals, which was equally good (La Venexiana are currently doing a magnificent job of recording all Monteverdi's books of madrigals for the GLOSSA label).

This is an expensive set, however, you will probably never need to buy another John Dowland CD again after buying and listening to this collection.

I bought this CD set on a mild Summer evening of 1998 and listened to it while sitting in my sun room - which a glorious orange sunset in progress, and a glass of wine. It brought back so many memories.

5 out of 5 stars a beautiful journey into melancholy.......2001-06-15

I'm amazed at how many people tend to associate John Dowland's music with a tragic sense of drama. While no doubt this is art highly based on sadness, the "tragic" sense of it is more a legacy from the Romantic period. During the Renaissance, however, sadness was undestood as a very aesthetic way of approaching life. That is also the reason why Shakespeare's tragedies appear more sophisticated than his comedies.

Dowland, a contemporary of Shakespeare, discovered that meditating on a sad theme is, at the same time, a way of discovering a special beauty that we tend to avoid (maybe because of the "tragic" heritage of the Romantics). So, in the end, meditating on sadness is an uplifting experience! This box set is a journey into melancholy that includes songs, chamber music, pieces for lute, some rare sacred music and -as a highlight- Dowland's beautiful collection of seven pieces for viola which he called "Lachrimae" (Tears).

5 out of 5 stars Superb Christmas Album.......2007-02-19

Mario Lanza infuses his characteristic beautiful vocal intensity into this collection of carols and Christmas songs.
The result is an outstanding album which will bring a lump to your throat and tears to your eye.
The recordings are old, but the Lanza magic makes this album a must-buy

5 out of 5 stars Love Mario Lanza.......2007-01-28

I love Mario Lanza. He is in my top favs. I have wanted this album for ages and it is just as great as I knew it would be. I'll be back to buy more of Mario Lanza.

5 out of 5 stars Mario Lanza - fantastic.......2007-01-15

Fantastic voice, wonderful classic Christmas songs. My all-time favourite version of O Holy Night - spine tingling.

5 out of 5 stars Christmas Hymns & Carols: You Do Something to Me.......2007-01-12

Wonderful songs, great selections of songs sung by the greatest singer, Mario Lanza.

5 out of 5 stars Pure hymnal power........2006-12-20

I have just spent the past six hours listening to snippets of every Christmas CD that I can find on Amazon, and this is the best by far. It's the purest rendition of the best Christmas hymns that are sung in church on Christmas Eve. No inane flourishes, no ignorant alterations, no arrogant amendments, just pure hymnal power. Don't agree? Type "christmas" in the Amazon music search box, listen to all the renditions of all the classic hymns such as "O Come All Ye Faithful" and when you are done you cannot but agree that Mario Lanza is not surpassed.

Update: I am now listening to the full CD and it is better even than I had hoped for. The beauty of Lanza's voice brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart.

An excellent collection of the best moments from one of the most influential heavy metal bands, this is a welcome alternative to the more complete Metal Works, for the fan who doesn't require quite so exhaustive a collection. This one has everything you'd expect, including the classics "Living After Midnight," "Breaking the Law," "You've Got Another Thing Comin'," "Ram It Down," and more. There are also some choice live tracks, including "Victims of Changes" and "Heading Out to the Highway." Not necessarily the best choice for the hardcore fan--who probably already has Metal Works and most (if not all) of the original albums anyway--but a fine greatest-hits collection. --Genevieve Williams

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Weird compilation from metal's best band.......2007-07-31

Okay, first thing is first I HATE "best of" albums. I think honestly if you're going to do a best of to do a live album instead. You get more passion in it and if you want studio tracks, just get the albums by themselves. However, I understand people wanting best of albums because they are only casual fans or just wanting to get into the band.

Now, with this said, I will repeat my headline and say that this is a weird compilation. While they are right on with some of their best songs such as "breaking the law", "Green Manalishi" and "Hellion/Electric Eye" they are WAY off in other track selections. No "Exciter", "Sinner", "Screaming for Vengeance" or "Riding on the Wind"? Huh? What were these people on? What puzzles me even more is why in the world would you put "Metal Meltdown" on here and not put on "Painkiller" or "Touch of Evil" for that matter. Those two tracks were the best from the Painkiller album. And, while I actually do like "Turbo Lover" it doesn't belong because it is not as good as countless other tracks. It is the best off of the Turbo album but let's be honest here, that album only had "Turbo Lover" and "Out in the Cold" while the rest of the album was just plain bad.

If you seriously want a taste of Judas Priest I've got three better suggestions for you. 1. Metalworks. Metalworks is the best Priest compilation; it honestly has ALL of their best for the most part and isn't short changing you and in fact puts some underrated stuff on there as well. So my suggestion is to get that. 2. Unleashed in the East. Like I said, I don't like "best of" albums and instead think if you want something like that, to buy a live album instead. If you want the best live performance out of the Priest I would suggest this album. Yes, it is early in their career but you get the idea of who they are at this point. 3. Metalogy. For this you either have to have a steady income or you are fairly comfortable that you like Priest but you don't want to shell out all the cash for the albums. This has 4 lengthy discs of music by Priest plus a DVD and this you for sure get everything you want.

However, at the end of the day my true recommendation is to acquire all of Priest's albums because they are the best metal band out there. Period. But, I understand financially this may be difficult since they do have a lot of albums. So, I honestly say stick with Metal Works to start. For albums to start, I would do Screaming for Vengeance, Sad Wings of Destiny, British Steel and Painkiller to get a good diversity of their sound. I would definitely recommend though to get Turbo and Ram it Down last because they are their only weak albums but they do have some classic stuff on each.

Bottom line though, get some Priest. If you love metal or good music in general, you can't go wrong. They are the best metal has to offer with only Sabbath and maybe Maiden coming close.

3 out of 5 stars Too Short!!!.......2006-09-08

Forget this skimpy set and buy "Sad Wings Of Destiny", "Screaming For Vengeance", and "Painkiller", their three best albums!!

3 out of 5 stars Judas Priest - The Best of Judas Priest: Living After Midnight.......2006-05-27

When I bought this album I was a little disappointed that there are no hits on this album past 1988 but the hits that are on this album are great. It has the original studio recordings and some live tracks.

O.k. to be frank, I'm not a fan of live tracks on an album. To me, live performances are more visual and it's not the same for me to hear it but the live versions of "Breaking the Law" and Heading out to the Highway" make up for it all because both of these tracks are superb. The audio is great on all of the live tracks (no shorting out, no poorly faded vocals and an equal balance of instrumentation and vocals together).

And of course great hits like "Living After Midnight", "You've Got Another Thing Coming" and "Green Manilishi" make up for a decent starting point for Judas Priest. I will say that the better option (if you're looking for a compilation) is Metal Works because that goes from like 1977 to 1993. Or you could just do the right thing and get each and every Preist album. It may be spendy but the only 2 truly influential British bands were Iron Maiden and Judas Priest so it's worth it. And of course, all of their classic albums are just that classic. Not many bands' older music is relevent over time but I'd be lying if I said that Judas Priest's music didn't still stand the test of time after all these years. 3 stars for this CD, sorry but when you cut out so much not much more I can do for you.

3 out of 5 stars BARGAIN BIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-12-08

A good friend had this one back in high school. It was a favorite to bring out when we partied out in the woods. When you are good and sloshed you will enjoy this mix of music. I personally was usually trying to hard to get into this chicks pants (no luck) to notice that the disc is LACKING very much. This is one of those bargain bin collections that you can find at the counter at CVS for $5.99. If you are looking for just some major hits this may be for you, but be aware that BREAKING THE LAW is a live version (not so great either) and a good chunk of other songs are also sub par live versions, (I have a REAL problem listening to live VICTIM OF CHANGES, because I like the studio v. so much.) Also, a lot of these songs are poppish 80's tracks. Green Mananlishi is cool, but TURBO LOVER is only cool when you are hammered, and singing it to some chick who is PAINFULLY uninterested in you. I would skip this bit and find a better hits package (2 disc METAL WORKS is good), I'm sure there are better bargain bin packs... or why don't you just buy either BRITISH STEEL (1980), SAD WINGS OF DESTINY (1977) or STAINED CLASS (1978) these are all very complete albums stocked with killer tunes.

2 out of 5 stars Missing WAY too much.......2005-12-04

I am giving this compilation two stars because it was the album that got me into Priest. There are so many great songs missing from here, it really should have been a two disc set. First off, including a live version of Victim of Changes was a stupid idea. I like the studio version much better. Second, I don't know how the could make a compilation without "Beyond the Realms of Death". That is one of their best songs. Here are some great songs not included on the compilation -

1. Beyond the Realms of Death
2. Exciter
3. Stained Class
4. The Ripper
5. Dreamer Deceiver
6. Island of Domination
7. Sinner
8. Hell Bent for Leather
9. United
10. Metal Gods
11. Rapid Fire
12. Screaming for Vengeance
13. Painkiller
14. A Touch of Evil
15. Night Crawler
16. Between the Hammer and the Anvil
17. Hell Patrol
18. All Guns Blazing
19. One Shot at Glory
20. Rocka Rolla

"Metal Meltdown" is a good song, but I don't see why they picked it instead of "Painkiller" or "A Touch of Evil".

Album Description

Compiled from two back-to-back shows in Union, New Jersey, this historic live recording captures three CDs' worth of eclectic performances by the stripped-down quartet configuration of the JGB. Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter takes vocals on his compositions "Promontory Rider" and "Tiger Rose." Packed with key originals and plenty of covers, it's an essential snapshot of Jerry at his peak.

One of rock's true icons, Grateful Dead lead guitarist, vocalist, and goodwill ambassador Jerry Garcia pursued an eclectic array of folk, bluegrass, roots-rock, and R&B-influenced solo projects throughout his career. Recorded both solo and with the Jerry Garcia Band, his albums include a slew of classic covers and many songs that became an integral part of the Grateful Dead's live set.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars No Money for Koontz.......2007-04-25

I have spent thousands of dollars on Jerry and Dead shows, albums, etc. since my first Dead show in 1973.

I was about to purchase this item on Amazon when I saw the references to the Garcia Estate aka. Koontz.

I believe she is the antithesis of the Dead spirit and is only looking to make a buck. As a result, I pass on this purchase and will only buy through GDM - non Koontz profit.

3 out of 5 stars Not the best JGB.......2007-02-26

3 stars is way too harsh for this recording, but there are better JGB discs out there. I'd start with the 1991 double disc recordings, then I'd go back the Saunders/Garcia era. Check out the Legion of Mary vol. 1 from Rhino, or the old Keystone discs. The problem with these discs, is that it's all Garcia. It's Jerry jamming, with 3 other guys backing him up. There are great moments in it, but in my opinion there is just nothing too special about this show that warrants this release.

5 out of 5 stars Nice jammin'.......2006-06-30

I bought this based on how I liked another JGB cd (welcome to our world) and am pleased with the sounds on this one. Garcia shows his genius on these extended jams. I get an upbeat feeling while listening to this music. Even the synthesizer music, which is corny in the context of current synthetic sounds, adds to the groove. All three discs are great, especially if you are looking for some great guitar jamming sounds. If you like this one, I encourage you to take a look at the JGB's "Welcome to our world".

4 out of 5 stars wow........2006-06-01

i can't believe this is out on cd. i just stumbled across it today! my late husband and i had this on tape years and years ago. absolutely my favorite dead/jerry related show. but the one we had.. had masterpiece, dear prudence and russian lullaby on it. it's really too bad they didn't include those with this release and it's the reason i'm giving it four stars. i did however find the complete version at the jerry garcia store. the extra disc is included free and has the late show.. entitled "way after midnight."

4 out of 5 stars Not even close to the 1991 JGB Release.......2006-03-01

Kean is a better than average performance but pales in comparison to the 1991 2 CD JGB release which is the Cornell 1977 of JGB shows. Kean lacks electricity and magic typically found at the better shows.

Nat "King" Cole endured more than his share of scorn and rebuke from all manner of fans and critics. He wasn't jazzy enough to satisfy many, not white enough to please the pop cultural obsession with Anglo- and Euro-American stardom. In answer to all of this, Cole simply proceeded, crooning beautifully even after he'd walked away from the piano and become primarily a vocal sensation. This 1956 collection is famous as Cole's riposte to the critique that he wasn't jazzy. The session brings several Swing Era stars on board: violinist Stuff Smith, trumpeter Harry "Sweets" Edison, trombonist Juan Tizol, and alto saxophonist Willie Smith. The horns and violin fronted a semistandard jazz setup of guitar, drums, and percussion, along with Cole's own considerable chops on piano. As an improviser, Cole heavily influenced a generation of ivory ticklers, including Oscar Peterson and others, and here he shows himself a stellar pianist. His runs bespeak Cole's utter perfection on the keyboard. This is a crucial document. --Andrew Bartlett

5 out of 5 stars 'And Still...The King..'.......2006-12-18

I've been wearing this out-and I don't know who's in his league as an entertainer;actually,I think it's a toss-up between Nat-and Louis Armstrong-for 'the greatest' title.Just as it's a tough call to decide whether I prefer Armstrong's playing-or singing,I'd say the same about Nat(I've played his 'instrumental classics' cd for several people;all of them have done a double take.."That's Nat King Cole..?"). This cd is a very balanced work as to what Cole is about(aside fronm the 'Ramblin' Rose'stuff-and,who beats him as a pop singer?,anyway).Maybe, even more importantly,I think I'd enlist him as the number one weapon against illiteracy-and-the general mangling of the English language...nah,with Nat,you can understand every word...whoops..syllable-perfectly.

5 out of 5 stars A unique Nat King Cole collection.......2006-02-12

There is some great stuff here that you won't find anywhere else, including one of my favorites, "Don't Let It Go To Your Head" (Lavene/Nast/Hadamik), that I simply can't find anywhere else and sheet music for it doesn't seem to exist. Willie Smith plays some sweet sax, too.

5 out of 5 stars better than a greatest hits CD.......2005-10-07

"greatest hits" collections are nice but usually they have a quality of being too familiar. These are just familiar enough. These songs became standards, and the title says it all. After midnight has a relaxed quality to Nat's piano playing. Not to be rushed, he sings with ease of a late night jam with enough intensity to warm your insides. "You can depend on me" alone is worth the entire purchase price and you still get 17 more songs!!!

5 out of 5 stars After Midnight.......2005-08-17

I don't believe I have ever heard a bad recording of his, but this is exceptionally inspiring for any Nat Cole fan.

5 out of 5 stars If you think you know Nat "King" Cole..........2005-03-15

If you only know King Cole through his big, heavily orchestrated hits, then you don't know him all that well.
"After Midnight" showcases the extraordinary talent of this man as a vocalist and pianist, with spare, perfect accompaniment by top-notch jazzmen. It is a treasure to discover, and rediscover with every listening.

5 out of 5 stars A Christmas Celebration: Kathleen Battle.......2007-01-19

what can i say about the best of the best? As always, Miss Battle makes me wonder how anyone else would dare to sing this music after her rendition. A beautiful CD

5 out of 5 stars One of the most beautiful Christmas albums .......2005-11-22

I love Kathleen Battle's voice, and to get such a great collection of beautiful sacred music, it was like a dream come true. She sings many traditional carols like Holy Night, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night, which is possibly my favorite here, you may think you have heard this song so many times, but Kathleen's voice really shines in it. Her English diction is so incredible, you can understand every word, which is not something many opera singers can achieve. Her singing is always so natural and lovely. Many other songs are oustanding on this album, I love the two version of Ave Maria and the Italian song Gesu Bambino. If you are looking for a really beautiful collection of Christmas music, this album is a great choice.

5 out of 5 stars A Christmas Collection For The Ages.......2005-11-13

If there is one performer I miss hearing on a regular basis, it is Kathleen Battle. Anytime I knew that she'd be in a Metropolitan Opera radio broadcast, I knew it would be a performance to remember and more often than not, I was correct. She has a light voice that reaches the upper reregisters with ease and has as a gorgeous sound. She not a regular at many opera houses these days, and in likelihood, if she still did perform on the world's opera stages, we'd be hearing critics say her voice was not what it once was, but thanks to her recorded legacy, her voice will, always have that youthful, energetic sound.

Overall I believe that Ms. Battle performs better in complete opera recordings than recital albums, but most of her recital recordings are of at least good quality and this Christmas collection is outstanding. She handles all of the works with apparent similar ease, but since the recording is so varied, this is a compliment to her skill as a performer. She begins and ends with "O Come All Ye Faithful" where she does a few vocal acrobatics but it's never overdone. Each time I think of what the bets part of the collection is, my mind changes. She brings her skills from the operatic stage in her renditions of "O Holy Night," "Gesu Bambino" (only Pavarotti sings this better, but it's a very close second), and "The Zither Carol" which sounds so much like something that could come from the mouths of Oscar from UN BALLO or Zurbinetta from ARIADNE AUF NAXOS, two of her signature roles. The music from the African American Spirituals tradition and American background are well done and the accompaniment of the Harlem Boys Choir, used to great advantage here adds so much.

With so many Christmas collections from the world of opera available, choosing one can be difficult, but this is one collection that has proven to be a joy for almost fifteen years and will continue to give holiday pleasure for years to come.

5 out of 5 stars Kathleen Battle, My Madam Christmas.......2004-12-28

I probably have 50 Christmas albums. I love many of them. This is my favorite. Leaves me astounded and breathless every time I enjoy it.

5 out of 5 stars Pure Joy.......2003-12-07

In a world where disturbing things are all too common, Christian scripture guides us to dwell on that which is lovely. Kathleen Battle's blessed voice is most certainly one of those lovely things.

I bought this CD in the early 1990's, and I am here to buy it again because I have worn out the original with scratches, etc. I only listen to it during the Christmas season, but I enjoy it enough to hear it all year.

The 'Christmas Celebration' CD should be enough to convince you to also purchase Kathleen's 'A Carnegie Hall Christmas Concert'. Ms. Battle's wonderful soprano voice is joined by that of the mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade, and the blending is more than memorable. There are a couple of songs which are on both CD's, but you'll want to hear both. In fact, the video of the PBS special is also available, and I recommend buying all three. You won't regret it.

Some of my favorite selections from 'Christmas Celebration' include 'Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabelle' and 'Fum, Fum, Fum', both of which are from a culture different from my own. I found such glimpses into unfamiliar favorites to enhance my own enjoyment of the Christmas season, as long as all of my traditional American favorites were included. They were. "I Wonder As I Wander" and "Oh Come, All Ye Faithful" are there among the other favorites.

This CD's music is the kind that sets a wonderful Christmas mood. It can establish memories that say "Christmas" in the memories of children for life. Along with other classics like 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' and 'The Nutcraker' (from your favorite orchesta) and George Winston's 'December' and a few others, you will slowly be able to assemble a Christmas music library that will stay with you for life.

In an interesting partnering in elegance, Marcus Roberts continues his intellectual exploration of the piano trio in Cole After Midnight--a collection of arrangements honoring the music of Nat "King" Cole and Cole Porter. Roberts is a glimmer of hope amidst the current deluge of artists paying tribute to Nat "King" Cole, having built a career on clever, modern interpretations of conservative standards. However, he handles this tribute with a bit too much reverence. The pianist has the extraordinary ability to cohesively cite the whole of jazz history within a single composition, but his scholarly appreciation fails to reference the brightness of Mr. Cole's trio work. Roberts has recorded Gershwin's "Embraceable You" before (on 1992's If I Could Be with You)--a sweet, deceptive interpretation far more successful than what he's offering here. Despite the witty hand-drum treatment of "Mona Lisa" and the wonderful bass exchange of Roland Guerin and Thaddeus Expose on "Paper Moon," this album doesn't start to breathe until Roberts's own energetic original, "Cole After Midnight." Once free of honoring the master of piano trios, this group sets off on a number of smartly arranged Cole Porter tunes. The sultriness of "I Concentrate on You" sidles smoothly into the funky "What Is This Thing Called Love," which showcases the sharpness of drummer Jason Marsalis. Roland Guerin hands over a rare delicacy of a slap bass solo on "It's DeLovely." Roberts takes it alone on "You're the Top," playing with a postmodern meld of a Morton-on-Monk style that is all his own. While not the best showcase of Roberts's talent and insight, this album contains many satisfying moments. --Susan Lewandowski

5 out of 5 stars Love those jazz standards!.......2005-05-02

This CD delivers exactly what it promises - a creative mix of standards from popularized by Nat "King" Cole and Cole Porter. If you like melodic, creative, swinging arrangements of some great jazz standards, you'll love this CD.

4 out of 5 stars Well Planned.......2001-10-09

Roberts attacks this project to honor Porter and Cole with analytical skill, and succeeds in educating, if not thrilling the listener.

The liner notes were among the best I have seen, as Roberts lays out his project, goals, and tactics on every song. Very informative.

He also seems committed to letting the trio flex its muscles, so that we get a lot of variety in drumming styles, a lot of work for the bass, including duets and interesting solos.

There is also care taken to blend the music, with interesting bookend versions of "Answer Me, My Love," some great interludes, and the very good original bridge "Cole After Midnight."

Structurally, this is a very sound album, leaving only personal taste to judge between a 3-star and 5-star effort. I come down in the middle.

4 out of 5 stars "latin to jazz...and back again".......2001-09-03

Before I really get into this review...would like to point out the highlight of this CD..."WHAT IS THIS THING CALLED LOVE", Marcus gives this standard tune his all, great arrangement and outstanding performance...Sinatra put this tune on the charts with his signature style, but there is something about Roberts rendition, grabs you and doesn't let go.

There is a lot of Ella on many of the tracks...being one of my favorites, think this might be the case with our pianist...Marcus backup is truly terrific ~ Roland Guerin (bass), Thaddeus Expose' (bass), Jason Marsalis (drums), Leon Anderson (drums), listen as this group mix the perfect ingredients for a Jazz trip down the avenue known as "Cole!"

Total Time: 65:21 on 16 Tracks ~ Sony/Columbia CK-69781 ~ (2001)

3 out of 5 stars solid, but not outstanding.......2001-07-22

mr. roberts returns to the format he used on his previous album, "gershwin for lovers" for this set of cole porter standards with a couple of originals thrown in for good measure. the results are a fine reading of the porter songbook with each tune easily recognizable and downright hummable. but therein lies a problem. in the best standards collections, the tunes are revealed in the first couple of bars, but then the artist gives their own interpretation illuminating their own personal spin and relationship with each song--a fine example being any of the keith jarrett "standards" sessions, or even mr. roberts' gershwin set. mr. roberts offers very little new or extraordinary in his solos, and with eleven of the tracks weighing in four minutes or less, there really isn't much room for exploration. oh, well... if you love cole porter, this is a great set. if you love cole porter and jazz exploration of mr. porter's songbook, go with oscar peterson or mr. jarrett.

    4 out of 5 stars A difference of opinion........2000-07-05

Classic CD magazine gave this CD one star and I really don't understand why. Admittedly the reviewer's credentials are better than mine, but I really enjoyed this disc. I have several versions of "Vienna, City of My Dreams" both vocal and instrumental, in my collection and it's interesting to compare interpretations. The Kreisler piece "Tambourin Chinois" will never be my favorite, no matter who plays it. This is a Telarc disc and their CD's are generally very well done. To sum up, I like Erich Kunzel and I like the selections from the Viennese Romantic repetoire.

5 out of 5 stars Stunning and melodic, each song is a joy and surprise........1999-07-31

Mr. McDuffie's style and artistry creates a CD that is wonderful to listen to. The CD appeals to all ages being a favorite of my small children. I would strongly recommend this work to anyone who loves violin music.
