The second great Incantation album.......2003-01-17

This band is like the metal underground a paradox: brilliant when at top of form, and listless when not. By my reckoning, they've put out one genius work, "Onward to Golgotha," several excellent live albums and compilations including "Forsaken Mourning of Angelic Anguish," and one solidly excellent but not over-the-top-genre-redefining work, "Diabolical Conquest."

I like this album. Every song has a collection of solid riffs and some artistic mechanism at its center, whether deliberate or not. Further, there is some experimentation with ambient dissonance on later tracks, and a tendency to seek a higher degree of discernible melody in the context of storytelling songs with consistent punch but not repetitive loops of emotional or musical statements. If you enjoy the roaring extremity of this band, purchase this after "Onward to Golgotha" and it will rapidly lay claim to space in your CD rack.

Incantation - Great Death and Doom metal!.......2001-06-23

Incantation is one of the best death/doom bands around. Their riffs are heavy, the drumms are skilled, the vocalist kills, and you can actually hear the bass! Someone else put down about how the bass drum kick is off, im sorry bro, but i am a musician myself, i play drums guitar, bass, vocals ect..and i know for a fact that when the bass drum is not going as fast as the snare drum it is on purpose. Cause when he slows down on the snare drum, he goes fast on the bass drum again. This cd also had something you would never have suspected a death metal band to do. The last track on the cd is 2 songs put together and the total time is over 16 minutes long! I would expect that from a straight up doom or a black band but not a death band! If you want to hear some quality death metal that slows down at times to let your neck get a break from headbanging. But don't let the slowness fool ya, those slow riffs are pounding with evil and heaviness. I would suggest this to any death metal fan!

This is more "evil" than most trendy black metal bands could ever hope to be. Everything from the artwork to the lyrics to the music itself shows how passionate these guys are about their cause. They're not just some nobody's using a satanic image to sell more records, they mean it all, and it shows. Very powerful, doomy death metal. Far superior to the legions of uninspired bands. My favorite tracks are Desecration(of the heavenly graceful), Unheavenly Skies, and Ethereal Misery. The drumming is very solid, with atleast a little variation between blast beats. I don't remember there being any solos on the entire album,but the riffs are good, and create a feeling of impending doom.

I totally agree with the reviewer before me. How can you bash on Incantation! Incantation is one of the most violent & destructive Death Metal band to ever walk the earth! This CD is a perfect example of their ugliness. Real abysmal Death metal, filled with anti-melodic guitar riffing, heavy-as-hell bass attacks, and insane drumming! Not to mention the great vo-killss! Listening to this musick fills me with anguish. Just about all the tracks on here are great, especially 'United In Repungence' I look forward to their next release! Infernal Storms. Also check out their previous opus. 'Onward To Golgotha.' Praise The Goat!

Unbeatably heavy death metal.......1999-11-05

How can people bad-mouth Incantation? I don't get it man. These guys create just an aura of pure evil. Listening to Diabolical Conquest is almost like sitting in an air-tight box at the bottom of the ocean. It's just totally oppressive and heavy. Unbelieveable. If you don't like Incantation, you totally don't know what's up.

One of the most brutal death metal albums of the early 90's........2005-05-15

I have been a long time Incantation fan (even owning the Entrantment Of Evil demo from way back in the day), but this album helped put this band on the forefront because it had the conviction to ensure this band longevity. The music is barbarically heavy and continually alternates from fast to slow and vice versa. Craig Pillard's voice is inhuman!! This whole album just kicks ass from start to finish, all they to do now is finally play Immortal Cessation when I see them live next month.

Incantation's Brutal Blasphemous debut.......2004-12-28

Incantation's Onward To Golgotha is a calssick indeed! I was fortunate enough to be able to buy this cd from Incantation's current drummer Kyle Severn, I even had him, John, and Joe sign it for me, which might sound retarded since Kyle and Joe didn't play on this record but I thought that it would be cool for them to sign it b/c Kyle is a major part of the Incantation history and Joe is becoming a big part of their history, and both are amazing at their instruments...plus to top all of that off Blasphemy happens to be my favorite Incantation release so far, which Kyle and Joe played on...

Onward To Golgotha was Incantation's first full-length release and although I was still in diapers at the time, it seemed to make quite an impact on the U.S Death Metal scene, and now enjoying it's contents, I can see why...Now I have had this cd since March, so I have had quite a few good listens, and it still makes me smile at the heaviness and darkness that is contained on this cd. Songs like Golgotha, Devoured Death, Rotting Spiritual Embodiment, Entrantment Of Evil, Christening The Afterbirth, and the classicks Unholy Massacre and Profanation make me want to destroy churches and burn bibles, which here in east Texas is a good thing...Deep, Demonic, Unholy Death vokills spew forth from Craig's mouth like he is actually possessed by DEATH itself...John's guitar skills seem as good on here as they are now, and the drummer doesn't play fast all the time which is a good thing, like another reviewer said he seems to use ALL of his drum kit, not just the hi-hats, bass drums, and snare.

All in all this a very awesome release in my opinion and definitely one of the best debuts I have ever heard, every track is filled with pure Death Metal enjoyment! In fact I like the Entrantment Of Evil demo cover so much that I got it tattooed on my arm, the figure of DEATH on the goat head gondola transporting the souls to hell was just irresistible! Overall Incantation is one of my favorite blasphemous Death Metal bands, I prefer them any day over the black finger nail painting, corpse paint wearing dorks of black metal any day! (the only exception being Immortal) So do yourself a favor and pick this classick up today!

Also, this seems to be about the only Incantation cd with little guitar solos/leads on it, which is weird because even without guitar solos all the other Incantation releases kick ass too!

...Whenever i listing to an album by incantation it just makes me smile because it is so damn good. If you love old school deathmetal then its a must you own and support incantation because they been in the scene for quite a while now and still making amazing music and i don't they think they'll stop any time soon. Onward to golgotha, is in my opinion incantation's best album todate and prolly one of the best deathmetal albums yet... With the perfect production and lirycs as well as very orginal i might add. For old school deathmetal fans out there! Recommended!!

I have enjoyed Andean music since the early 80s when I bought an album by the Peruvian group Urubamba (which I still play). This CD has all the beauty and texture of the traditional instruments, and additionally is melodically and rhythmically original and intriguing. All of the compositions are by the members of the group, and all ten tracks are winners.

Caminito a Nacza and Inti Raimi bring to mind my favorite McCoy Tyner album. This is a group of very fine musicians.

The music on this CD is beautiful and unique. You will hear bamboo pan flutes, Latin guitars, a rainstick, a variety of drums, and sounds from nature. I find this music both relaxing and uplifting.

The Chilean Group Formed in 1965 Writing Lyrics Inspired by Social Issues Related to Its Country and Combining them with Autochthonous Musical Arrangements. In 1966, the Band Came in First Place at the Festival De Festivales, Releasing Its First Album that Same Year. Folk Singer and Songwriter Victor Jara Helped the Band by Promoting Quilapayun's Music and Making the Record Canciones Folkloricas De America Together. As Chilean New Song's Ambassador, Quilapayun Went on Its First European Tour in 1968. Due to Chilean Political and Social Changes in the Early '70s, the Group Settled in Foreign Countries for More Than a Decade.

Inspiring Music........2000-06-25

Music with an Andean theme. A must for the New Age enthusiast. I first heard this disc at a conference in Montevideo, Uruguay where the sponsors used it as theme music. It was so captivating that I had to ask what it was so that I could add it to my collection. It turns out that the first track was from the soundtrack for the movie "The Mission." Takes a little time to get, but well worth the wait.

This CD is another of the series of bootlegs that came in from Italy in the mid '90s, featuring Yma Sumac. Selling (or buying) it is illegal and it has no business being available on amazon.com. All of Yma Sumac's early material is owned by Capitol Records / EMI and without exception, every legitimate pressing bears their trademark while this one does not. Buy it at your own risk!
