All in Italian, I have no idea what any of the songs mean (except 'beautiful and impossible') but this is a favorite, turn down the lights, evening at home with just the two of you and Gianna. Her voice is deep and seductive, the songs perfectly paced with rythmic motion. An excellent gift item for someone you want to know better.

I studied for a couple of years in Rome, Italy. So I love Italian songs and I love Nannini's expressionist voice.

It is her first, I think it is her best!

May be an acquired taste.......2006-07-10

While some Italian pop music has successfully crossed borders (e.g. Laura Pausini, Eros Ramazzotti), a lot of it isn't exactly easy to listen to. Among other idiosyncrasies, it often seems as if a singer's surest path to success is to sound as if he's smoked 3 packs a day since childhood. Or as if she has.

Gianna Nannini is such a singer. I'm not familiar with her earlier work (she's about 50 now), but on this CD she sounds like grizzled and raspy male rock star Luciano Ligabue. Moreover, she is often way off-pitch.

Still, I found it hard not to like this album. Her voice packs a wallop. The opening track, "Sei nell'anima" has a great melody, sentimental lyrics ("Sei nell'anima,/e li ti lascio per sempre [You're in my mind/and I'm leaving you there forever]") and all her emotion packed into it. Many of the other tracks are satisfying as well, albeit they're very conventional pop-rock like you've often heard before in English. If you can tolerate Nannini's barely-OK technical skills and a voice that's anything but sweet, you'll find a lot to enjoy here.

Excellent, Gianna!.......2006-06-30

An excellent cd from Gianna Nannini, Italy, surely the greatest female rock-singer of today! It starts out with "Sei nell' anima" a beautiful ballad, so nice and so easy. "Le carezze" a favourite, a tune with a heavy, groovy touch. "IO" another favourite, almost a disco-happy-feelings-tune, though the lyrics is oh so heartbreaking. In "Treno" you can enjoy Giannas close and touching voice, accompanied by a beautiful guitar and strings just so lovely. You'll get some good rocksongs in "Possiamo sempre" and "Mi fai incazzare". All the other songs are very good too. Gianna is surrounded by very good musicans all together, and by Will Malone, not the least, as Co-producer. Don't ever belive me! Find out yourself by getting your on cd. And I know you will give me only one answer for reviewing this: Grazie!

That's how I would describe Gianna to any American who has never heard her. Some might call her a female Rod Stewart (she has indeed toured with him) but I think she's better than that. On this CD, I maschi especially has that magic Spector quality. Personally, I think that song itself makes this CD worth every penny. There are some other super recordings on this CD too (what would you expect? These are her greatest hits, and Gianna is indeed the "Queen of European Rock.") I especially like Bello e impossibile and fotoromanza, but there are plenty of others. Unfortunately for me, I don't care for a few of the extra hard rock songs on here, maybe 3 or 4, but I just skip over those. If you like that type of rock, then you'll probably give this one 5 stars. There's about 75 minutes of music here, so you really are getting your money's worth, even if you don't like the whole CD. Gianna rocks!

Rock Italian style.......1999-03-22

Gianna Nannini is a talented Italian Rock star whose "I Maschi" from this CD has been featured in the movie "Il ladro di bambini" (stolen children). Her raspy voice is her trademark and never gets tiring. I have four of her CDs and continue to search for more. Anyone who like this one will also like her CD "Dispetto." Ciao.

My brother went to Italy in the early 90's and I asked him to bring me back some italian music and what he brought back was a tape of gianna nanninni. All I remember is her voice. Rough but yet good.

Many years later, I became curious about her again since it's been so long I haven't heard some of her music. So I picked this one up without really knowing what's the deal.
All I can say is that it's good...very good!
Tight production...great rhythms...some electronic beats thrown in for good measure and that voice....unique!

If you're looking for a good record that pop fans and experimental fans can enjoy equally then this is it!

well, what else can I say? I love all the songs, the music, the lirycs and of course her VOICE. Gianna sings in italian which I think is a really good thing. She has a very personal way to write and make music and I really like that. She has used very interesting sounds, rhytmhs and words to express herself.

If you've liked her earlier production, this won't be any exception. Hearing the for the first time this record the reaction was the same as usual with her music, I was stunned.

Got this CD for my husband for Christmas. Maybe I did not read the fine print, but I was shocked to find out that this CD is really SHORT, something like 12 minutes? Why whould I pay this much money for one short song? I was really disappointed.
