That's a music gem.-.......2007-02-09

This one was the first LP that I have bought in my life (saving the money to buy my food in the high school), and has marked my taste by the music of a form that has made me take a persecution for good music, charming, rich and sophisticated, over 30, yes, for over 30 years ago. It continues being one of the best done musical works for me, one of the ten CD's favorite of between more than thousands than I have. I am hoping something better to listen in this kind of music,even from Chick itself, but it does not happen...

Amazing .."If you listen".......2007-01-10

I purchased this album after seeing Chick's performance at the Blue Note this past year with his "Leprechaun Band". Most of his covers were from this album and the "Friends" album. To see chick do these songs made me understand this album much more. But you really have to sit and listen because you can easily miss some key detailing of this disk. And also to mention Gayle is amazing on this disk, Granted she is not the most amazing singer but her voice compliments these tunes with a pin point acuracy. Please puchase you will see and understand what I am saying.

SUCKATHON!.......2006-02-16

This album was terrible. It was as if Chick was talking to his wife and said, "Hey baby, why don't you sing on my album?" and she was all like, "Ok, but I really don't know how to sing." Don't buy this album. As a beginning Chick fan, I thought that all Chick Corea albums were good. I was dead wrong. After listening to this album, I was downright embarrassed for Chick, because I knew that he would look back on that album years into the future and just frown. Do yourself a favor and buy something better like Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy, or even the disco album, Where Have I Known You Before? Spare yourself the humility

The Chick Corea Trio.......2005-08-27

I'm a big fan of Chick Corea's fusion days. I love most of his Elektric Band stuff, and most stuff he put out between 1974-1992.

This album has great players on it; Steve Gadd on drums and Eddie Gomez on bass. I love both of them. And they were Chick Corea regulars around this time.

This album has some great tunes, like Lenore. One of the greatest Corea tunes I ever heard. But then, there are some boring tracks without drums, or Chick is using a vocalist.

Now I'm not a vocals fan, so mainly when a jazz musician uses vocals for a recording or two, I look in the other direction, but this album has enough good material to over-shadow the bad stuff. Still worthy of getting; make your own opinion about it.

If nothing else, a DRUMMER'S ALBUM.......2004-09-27

Yeah yeah it's from 1975 and those analog synths sound dated, but if you really wanna hear musicians play in stunning form then you will grow to appreciate, even like the quirks on here. Yeah yeah there's a few tracks that could be called throwaways, but they help to give the album a completeness of character, aka the title. Deal with it, you'll hear incredible songs AND incredible singing (listen to Gayle's crystalline voice at the end of "Lenore").
For the drummers out there, I discovered this album 2 1/2 years ago and it has become a chapter in my drum bible, God being Gadd. He's known as the best drummer with us today for a reason (but I like him better than Buddy or Gene..) and this album demonstrates as clearly as possible. However, once you're converted, you'll soon learn that absolutely ANYTHING with Steve Gadd on it shows him at his best-- just as musical as demonstrated here, because he is the best. So once you've cried over this album, go find anything with this guy on it. You form the impossible impression that this guy is literally perfect.
Back to reality, "Lenore", "Nite Sprite", and "Leprechaun's Dream Part 2" are the highlights and can be listened to thousands of times and you'll still be noticing interplay between just SOMETHING that you didn't notice before. I'll go against the grain of the drum community on this one, but I think "Dream Pt2" is the best Gadd work on here, and also (probably by no coincidence) the best song, but that's just my opinion.
Oh yeah, Chick, Eddie, Anthony and the horn and string sections were all inspiring too.

the bonus disc only makes this cd. Flip proves on this cd why he is the freestyle king & silences all the doubts, if you don't beleive me go buy vol.8 "you seen da vibe" it's his best underground cd by far.

Pretty good.......2005-07-20

This is maybe Lil Flip's best lyrical effort. The beats are solid, yet not outstanding at all. "I Got Flow," "I Can Do Dat," and "Dirty Souf," are standout tracks in my opinion. In the end, Undaground King is a stronger album from Flip. I'd rather listen to this one than U Gotta Feel Me though.

Not quite as bad as album cover.......2004-06-22

If anyone could get past what is possibly the worst cover art on an album ever there is a mediocre C.D. inside. Lil Flip has since blown up and crossed over to become a commercial success. His patented slow as molasses flow is sometimes tedious to listen to. His vocabulary and subject matter are limited on this album. The "Trojans" song was a regional hit. There really aren't any stand out tracks on the album, I'd pass and pick up the Underground Legend album.

His music was original, while taking bits and pieces from traditional tunes. He really does not get the credit he deserves! I never imagined he meant for some of his songs to be played the way he played them.

Staggering Virtuosity!.......1998-12-20

Percy Grainger was a man of spectacular gifts. He was one of the most original composer/arrangers in the early part of this century. He was also a spectacular pianist in an age of spectacular pianists. This amazing CD documents Grainger's formidible gifts. It cannot be over-praised. Both the music and the performances are well worthy of any piano lover's attention. Don't miss this one!

I want to say that I am proud of Lil Flip, and all the things he has done.The world isnt ready for him.When I first heard him on a song called diamonds in yo face I knew from that point that he was going to be big.Alot of people hate on him cause how he blew up so fast,but he didnt let them get him down.I will continue to support him,on all his albums to come.If you like da Leprechaun then you will definitely like The Undergrond Legend,its his best album to date.Once you hear it you will listen to it over and over.My favorite tracks are 1,2,4,5,6,8,9,10,11,12,15,16,but the whole album goes hard.

The Leprechaun.......2002-09-03

The Leprechaun. The first Lil' Flip cd I have ever heard, and more than likely it won't be the last. I brought it almost a week ago. The first time I heard that cd, I wasn't very impressed, but deep down, I knew it was going to get better after I listened to it. And I was very right. It is a tight cd. Here's what gets me about the cd: everybody says he is the freestyle king, and he has the worse beats ever. He got a tight freestyle on some parts of the cd, but I've heard better freestyles then what I've heard on this cd. And the beats are pretty tight for a person who is only 18 at the time, and plus he made beats this tight on a budget. I think his new cd, Undaground Legend will be very tight, though.

Simply amazing synth score to a not-so-amazing movie.......2005-11-29

Even though the movie wasn't the best one ever made, the music is another thing entirely. Even though this score is completely synthesized, it features the ability to sound like an actual orchestra a lot of the time. The soundtrack also features cues that were drowned out by sound effects in the movie that I never knew were there. All I can say is even if you not a big fan of synth (like me), this album will actually surprise you in how real it sounds. I prefer orchestra over synth but with Hollywood's decision to mix synth and orchestra together, there's not much of it left today. John Ottman is the best when it comes to mixing synth and orchestra. Sorry, Jerry Goldsmith, but even though I'm a fan of several of your scores, your electronic scores didn't interest me in the slightest. And it has a recurring theme that doesn't play just once and go away, it's featured alot and it's not that bad. If you can find a copy, buy it while ya can.

Album Description

Tracy Dahl's fourth appearance on the CBC Records label showcases her flair as an actress as well as her outstanding vocal abilities, bringing the listener a collection of songs from around the world that is zany and fun on the one hand and gently rocking on the other. Take zany for example, with W.H.Belyea's Zoo Songs, as inspired by giraffes, elephants, monkeys, peacocks, kangaroos, bear, lions and rabbits. Speaking of rabbits, there is also the musical tale Peter Rabbit by Dudley Glass. Add Aaron Copland's I bought me a cat, and you're on a musical animal merry go round - where she stops, nobody knows. Well, it doesn't stop, but it does slow down to lullaby proportions as Tracy also explores music that will allow your children a bit of shut-eye after getting off the merry go round, like the music of Johannes Brahms or Robert Schumann, or a traditional Irish Lullaby.
