Jamaican-born, Florida-based Digital K (Keith Ruddock) was introduced to reggae and dub as a child by his uncle Osborne Ruddock, the legendary King Tubby. Hanging out in King Tubby's Waterhouse District (Jamaica) studios, he was immersed daily in the studio machinations of Bunny Lee, U Roy, Bob Marley, Scientist and Prince Jammy. By age 15, he was a full-fledged assistant in the studio, learning production and assimilating the new technologies of the day under the guidance of his Uncle Tubby. In 1985, Digital K moved to the United States and set up his own production unit and studio. His "take" on dub is most unusual and avant garde.

Using roots reggae rhythms as his very basic skeleton grid, Digital K takes studio remixing and sampling into new froniers of hip hop, house and acid jazz, creating a "window" towards a new genre that is very beat & rhythm oriented and very hardcore! This is tribal Africa-derived, reggae roots-driven, passionate, alienated "black music" - as close to the street as it gets. A modern urban dub.

Although his roots are in reggae/dub, Digital K uses his studio and remixing expertise to expand into different musical styles, heard on King Tubby's in the House. While it's very rhythmic-oriented, the album's compositions are a mix of hip-hop, house, and acid jazz, with reggae's trademark off-time beats and vocal samples being a nice final touch. The upbeat opener, "King Tubby's Dub," and sets the tone for the rest of the album, which is followed by the just-as-intriguing "Dancehall Jazz Dub," "Piano Dub," and "Alice Dub." Three bonus tracks are added to the end of the CD — remixes of "Tubby's Dub," "Speed Dub," and a "Digital Distortion Mix" of "Gangsta Dub," which all successfully expand on the album's original versions.

Among his best work . . ........2003-06-01
It wasn't long after this that Pablo's records began to suffer from what sounded like a lack of inspiration, after this he made only an album or two I'd call truly essential. This release has four tracks (from singles of the era) that weren't on the original album, as well as improved sound and short but fine liner notes. The definitive Pablo collection has yet to be compiled, despite a fine attempt recently on Trojan Records ("Skanking With Pablo"). That aside, Shanachie deserves high marks from what looks like the beginning of a fine reissue program. "East Of The River Nile", Pablo's commonly acknowledged high point, has also been reissued with similarly fine sound and some bonus tracks, and is at least the equal of this release.
