About the Artist
Born In New York and moving to Ghana at the age of three, Nee Sackey grew up in Africa’s Ghana as the son of a highly distinguished international diplomat. Not only did Sackey’s father serve as Ghana’s delegate to the United Nations; he also made world history when he became the first black president of the United Nations’ General Assembly. He later served as Ghana’s Foreign Minister from 1965 - 1966 before eventually returning to America as Ghana’s ambassador to the United States in 1978. After graduating from Berklee, Nee moved to Connecticut and played in various jazz bands with some great musicians. Nee released the internationally acclaimed solo CD "My Father’s Son, My Brother’s Brother" in 1994. Nee has been seen sharing the stage with such formidable jazz luminaries as Herb Alpert (in the video for Lani Hall’s "El Facil Par Amor"), Marion Meadows, Rob Mullins, Brian Hughes and Arnold McCuller among others.

Nee's work is very interesting. He has a very warm, lush sound. It's full of African as well as American Jazz influences; most notably Miles Davis. This is a very upbeat CD that will make you want to get up and dance. Now, if we only knew the steps! The African genres are unknown to me, but the sound is infectious. The American influences are bop based, but very melodic and easy to listen to. I highly recommend this CD to anyone that has eclectic musical tastes.
