What an incredible and misterious recording!!!!!.......2005-10-31

I've never heard this album, I knew it was deleted several years ago, but now Emi Music edited the digital remaster and WOW...it's a marvellous and impressive recording!!! Like a italian version of Tim Buckley's "Starsailor" and " Happy Sad" together...a voice with a high operatic expression that revolves the entire world...at least a masterpiece, no doubt!!
The eponymous title, a side-lenght epic with almost 20 minutes is a kind of disturbing symphony, opening with bird chants and ending in a rhythmically dramatic manner. It's structure seems a patchwork, beautifully adorned with Jean-Luc Ponty's violin as a guest...a superb progressive theme in the genre!!
The other three songs are in the similar quality, especially "La Mia Mente", with Sorrenti stretching some words (of course in italian with much more dramatic accent!!) in a neurotic (spooky!!!) manner...it is poetry at the most intense in music, certainly a classic (a masterpiece I've said already)!!!

a pleasant comeback.......2003-07-25

Alan Sorrenti is a veteran of Italian pop music, he started his career with progressive music in the early seventies (Aria, a magnificent album, is arguably his best) and proceeded in writing and performing enjoyable pop songs in the eighties (Figli delle stelle) that became wildly popular. One of his best pop songs from that period, Tu sei l'unica donna per me, is currently the soundtrack of a car commercial, showing he's still loved despite the fact that he makes new music every now and then.

His latest release, Sott'acqua, even though far from being a masterpiece, is an excellent collection of pop ballads and light disco rhythms. All the tracks are finely crafted, starting with the sunny Paradiso Beach, currently on heavy rotation. This is the kind of CD that grows on you after repeat listenings, so for whoever is interested in this fine artist I would definitely recommend a fast purchase. The music is well balanced, the lyrics are all interesting and the singing is suave. My picks?
Sky, Adesso dove sei, Mi fai venire un'eclisse.... but the rest of the tracks are really good too... enjoy!
