This CD features a live performance by sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan and tabla master Shafaat Ahmed Khan. Amjad Ali Khan performs the afternoon rag Bhimpalasi. Amjad Ali Khan lives up to his highest standard of technical perfection and crystal clear play. His sensitive play beautifully captures the serene and gentle mood of the rag. Shafaat Khan on tabla does a terrific job of adding to the serenity of the rag by focusing on rythmnic subtely, rather than on raw speed. The 2 masters evoke the mood of the rag to perfection and therefore i rank this cd as among the best of classical indian music.
