A unique South African-Dutch duo bringing a superb blend of gentle, melancholy, folkis songs with a hint of jazz. The duo has been established in 1998 and has toured all over the world and released 2 albums: Song for Nomsa in 1999 and Keeping the Dream in 2003 (both on EWM Music)

Tasteful fusion.......2002-05-17

Stylistically similar to Metheny and diMeola, Wayne Johnson mixes elements of jazz, rock, and pop together tastefully with plenty of space for melodic improvisation. He's ably backed by Tribal Tech bassist Gary Willis and drummer Bill Berg, who also get in their share of licks. More aggressive than most smooth jazz, but still refined listening music. Guitar synth is used to good effect on "Portrait of a Yak". This is his best album as a leader, definitely worth having in your collection if you enjoy refined fusion music.

Album Description

"For the Sake of Love" is a tribute in song to the healing journey. Centered on personal and global healing with a Celtic feel to some music and Asian flavor to others, the songs range from a single ethereal voice and exquisite piano to full harmonies and orchestration, driving rhythms and percussive expression. The lyrics are inspiring and intimate, written from Demian's personal experience in overcoming childhood abuse.

The music on this CD is fashionably current with the latest music styles. However, the main reason it's great is that when you purchase it, a portion of the cost goes for Multiple Sclerosis research. I really enjoyed the songs perfomed by many well-known people including Montel Williams, who was recently diagnosed with MS. You can't go wrong with "Keeping the Dream Alive" when you get music and a way to contribute to a worthwhile cause.

This album main purpose is to help research and find a cure for MS a debastating disease that is affecting so many people in this planet. That in itself should be a motivation for many to support it. One day...you may have to lean on another, hopefully someone will be there to hold you in moments of darkness and despair. My thanks to all that participated in this great album and its production, it shows the nobility and generosity of their spirit. May others share this attributes by being part of it and buying the CD.
