Feast of Saturnalia

Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This is the first post - Group Du Jour CD by Daniel Crommie to feature all the elements of the Group Du Jour sound: eclectic pop songs with electric dulcimer, flutes and synthesizer sequences - broken up by ethereal sections and quirky instrumentals. Garnering little critical notice this remains the harbinger of things to come as several of these songs are now performed by Daniel's new band Saturnalia Trio Quartet, whose album The Juturna Codex has in fact received critical acclaim. Janie Mitchell recorded her Psalm & Squall album with Daniel Crommie producing and contributes an uncredited vocal to Eve of Saturnalia. The album has a few fairly rockin' moments, particularly the Jethro Tull influenced TerminUs and the moody River Running Over.

4 out of 5 stars First post-Group Du Jour CD from Daniel Crommie.......2001-12-21

It's only proper after recently attending the Camlann Medieval Fair in Carnation that I come back and find a review CD of similar overtones. Northwest artist Daniel Crommie's niche combines medieval instruments (flutes, hand drums, dulcimers) on "The Stags Dance" and more recent Jethro Tull influences on "TerminUs" and "Calm that Stills the Water". He combines it all in a new-age synthesizer feel on "Ripples on the Pond". This is pretty relaxing and inclusive, a melting pot of new-age spice and folksy medieval flair, thrown in with a pinch of Jethro Tull. Review by Mike Savola, The Rocket.
