It is a shame that the great Italian singers have remained virtually unknown in the United States. Ornella Vanoni is a legend, with one of the few unique voices left in popular music, and this album is one of many high points in her career. As she has always done, Vanoni follows her own muse here, not trying to fit into what the faddish genre of the day is. The result is a wonderful variety of moods, sometimes defiant, sometimes melancholic, sometimes playful. And, while there is certainly a nostalgia factor to these songs (Cher, if you are reading this, there is a cover of "Bang Bang", albeit better than the original), there is none of the usually requisite schmaltz or cutesiness accompanying it. Vanoni fans will be thrilled with this album, and newcomers will gain a great introduction to an exquisite singer.

While it is becoming a rule that in every new album that pop-divas are recording only two-three tracks are worthy some attention while the rest are a pure junk, this new album from Ornella Vanoni one could listen without skipping between tracks. All songs are excellent, from rather nostalgic "Vendo a Casa" to "Casa Mia", inspired by African beat. Vanoni demonstrate her incredible vocal mastery in "Una Ragazza in Due" when she sings from low to high pitch in a single breath with poise that gives a goosebumps. Even people who do not understand Italian will appreciate this excellent album from Italian singer.
