Xutos&Pontapés Rock'n'roll Band appeared in 1978, in the way of the vacant punk that entered in Portugal after the 25 of April. They had started with the project of Zé Pedro and Zé Leonel to form a punk band, the "Delirium Tremens" that never arrived to exist. They had passed then to "Xutos&Pontapés", after the name "Beijinhos&Parabéns" was refused(that they always use to pass unobserved). They had joined Kalu and later Tim, they had made two hours of assay and they played for the first time the 13 of January of 1979, in the party of the 25 years of Rock in "Alunos de Apolo" - less than ten minutes, but to deserve this critical :
"... the 2000 heads of all blown-up with the sound of the year, the people did not stop to dance since the beginning.
(... proper subjects (only half dozen) in a sound, truly "hard-punk" ,perhaps with more assays and work, maybe they become an important document of music punk in our country."
The band that was launched ,would mark the Rock in Portugal during two decades - the first (and perhaps the only one) band of cult. With the exit of the Zé Leonel (today vocal of Ex-Votos) it remained the base constitution of the group: Zé Pedro, Kalu and Tim, passing this to be the vocal. Then Francis enters , he still participated in theit first album (1978-1982), and after the exit of Francis,enters João Cabeleira and soon to follow GUI, that would leave after the album "Gritos Mudos".
