Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Extraordinary Persian Music.......2000-10-07

This is without a doubt the finest example of Persian traditional music that I have ever heard. Being a connaisseur with exacting tastes, the brothers Tabassian met all of my high standards. Oh what bliss to hear the setar and tombak played so artfully. If I were in Tehran right now I would be bowing to the gods of Kiya and Ziya. Kudos to you my friends!! Mike

5 out of 5 stars the sétar's star and the tombak s' back.......2000-08-05

This recording is is a rightful reflexion of the Tabassian brothers's art. There musical brotherhood brings them to embrace their fascinating culture with an attentionate pleasure.

I listen to this music often, and with a great pleasure and amazement. I find it as fresh as improvisationnal jazz and as solemn as ancient chants. Kiya's sétar, endowed with a delicate and pure tone, emits fresh melodies with something more; a honest rythmic refinement . The last is marvelously driven by the softest percussion instrument I know, the tombak, from wich Ziya extracts a great variety of tone, as fluid and driving as waves. To me, listening is like wandering in a foreing and sacred garden, where I might contemplate processions of swarming bees, rosewater fountains and the flickering flames of an eternal brazier.

I wish you to get in touch with this heartfelt expression of the persian culture and I assure you of its rare preciousness (both CD and culture ;).
