From My Heart features four Morricone classic film scores, including themes from The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, and Once Upon a Time in the West. Giorgia herself translated Sting's "Fields of Gold" for her stunning acoustic-flavored rendition of "Campi d'Oro." She also salutes another of her heroes with her own take on Barbra Streisand's "I've Dreamed of You" while her classical training shines on the "Aria" (based on The Swan from Saint-Saëns).

Great CD. Giorgia has a beautifull voice and the choice of songs is superb.
She has made a CD before, Gio'aria. On Amazon you can only find it with that name, not trough Giorgia's real name.

I just purchased this cd tonight, and I already love it. I heard of her through somebody who posts at the Sarah Brightman fan website. The first song I heard of her's was "Your Love" and I just wanted to hear more after that. She has a really unique sounding voice, and is a breath of fresh air really. Her pitch is also really precise which is what I notice most. I kind of wish she would've done an aria on the cd because I think it would've turned out really nice. But maybe on her next album! =)

I bought this cd, I listened in my car cdplayer.But when I tried to ripped in my computer.my computer didn't recognize any cd in the drive.
IT has some stupid piracy protection. So, I ripped two others cd that I bought at the same time and my computer ripped these cd. why?
I'm returning this cd,because my main source of listening music is thru my pc.the same has happemd to me with others cd that I have bought

It's a shame I liked it a lot when I was listening in my car.

A beautiful voice, wonderful choice of songs and absolutely charming phrasing, there really isn't anything to not like in this extraordinary CD.

I saw and heard Giorgia Fumanti on the Hevenly Voices special on PBS and frankly I was not all that impressed. But this CD is an entirely different deal - great. Enjoy it.

this is a gerat album. Well written e produced. There's something that most of non italian people doesn't know: Giorgia in her first single, vivi davvero, included a wonderful english version of "Di sole ed'azzurro" called "Whit you".It's a very mervellous piece and Giorgia give her best in english too.I know it's difficuolt to find, but if you come to Italy you have to buy it.

Lovely voice, tiresome style.......2006-03-21

The great joy I have in listening to Italian artists like Laura Pausini and Andrea Bocelli, is that they, in their best work, impart something of an Italian artistic sensibility in their music - a quality that I can not easily find in the crowded American music scene. With Giorgia, who undoubtabley has a tremendous voice, one could hardly distinguish her music from anything on American radio if her lyrics would have been written in English. In this sense, the comparison with Whitney Houston is apt. Yet with Whitney, she is authentic to herself, singing in a style that comes from a family steeped in gospel, rhythym and blues, and hip-hop. For an Italian to slavishly imitate an American way of singing that is currently in vogue, while offering little to distinguish it from the hords of other singers/songs in this particular style, is a waste of a great voice for the audience. If I wanted an R and B singer, I have only to look to my backyard, the USA, to find it, since its birthplace has the best in the world. How about something a little more original, that comes from your soul, Giorgia? What you often present is just the mundane repetition and imitation of the "soul" style (which everybody and their brother is doing these days) that a record company pre-packages on your behalf in order to gain record sales from a non-discriminating public.

Giorgia doesn't screetch painfully like Ms Scary, and her songs are much more interesting and touching. Di sole e d'azzurro is one of my all time favorites and Gocce di memoria is up there, too. Giorgia is NOT in a class with Mariah or any other American pop icon, end of story.

If you want to leave for a while very well known operas, then you'd hear this one. The only reasons are: Barber, Steber, Gedda, Elias, Tozzi, Resnik, the MET and Mitropoulos. I think I do not have to say anything more

Someone Revived It!.......2002-10-30

As an addendum to my previous review, I'm pleased to say that the Washington Opera revived Vanessa this year. I haven't seen the production, but my sister raved about it. Maybe this will give new life to this amazing work!

Someone Revive This....Soon!.......2002-06-25

This may be one of the greatest American operas of all time. It is shocking that a work of this quality isn't more widely performed. It is a vocal showcase.

Vanessa suffers perhaps from a bit overwrought libretto. Menotti is guilty of his usual excesses. But Barber more than makes up for this in the sweep of his melodies. Musically, the piece is tonal, but harmonically adventureous. Interestingly, some of the piece calls to mind composers such as Bernard Herrmann or Miklas Rosza...high praise indeed for dramatic music in my mind. The final quintet at the end of the fourth act is rapturous. I find myself listening to it again and again.

The performance is as close to perfect as a composer could wish for. Steber is brilliant as Vanessa and Rosalind Elias is a moving Ericka. Mitropoulos conducts with sweep and power.

I wish opera companies would revive this work. It really deserves it.

A Masterpiece!.......2002-04-30

A truly gorgeous recording. What amazed me the most is the perfect diction of each performer. What a lesson for singers young and old! Barber's score is hauntingly beautiful.The cast is, without exception, brilliant Why isn't this work done at the Metropolitan on a regular basis?

What can I say, Bocelli is just one beautiful song after another. Even though I already had most of these songs on other Bocelli CDs such s Romanza, this is still worth getting for the Bocelli fan because it has The Bonus Track of Vivo Per Lei With Judy Weiss (It also include Vivi Per Lei With Giorgia which is also on Romanza), and it has The Power of Love with Bocelli in English with a Beatiful rendition. Every song on this CD rules, Con Te Partiro, Per Amore, Macchine Da Guerra, E Chiove, Romanza, The Power Of Love, Vivo Per Lei (with Giorgia), La Tue Parole, Sempre Sempre, Voglio Restare Cosim and Vivo Per Lei Iwith Judy Weiss) What can I say I can't get enoght Bocelli.

I love Giorgia's voice but this album falls a bit short for her. Not woefully bad, but her studio work is much more polished. This live set has some fun moments and it is nice to hear her sing some songs in English. Stevie Wonder's appearance was a pleasant surprise, too!

New Songs!!.......2005-11-07

With only a couple new songs and some english classics with Giorgia's spin on them, I love this new CD.
Best 24 dollars I ever spent. Worth every penny for all you penny pinchers.

New Concert, Some Old Material.......2005-08-04

I randomly stumbled upon Giorgia, who I believe to be one of the most talented singers in the world, when I was studying Italian several years ago. I've been a huge fan ever since. I think she has an absolutely beautiful voice that is rivalled by few other singers. Judging from other reviews of her albums on Amazon, those who have discovered Giorgia agree that she is one of their favorite singers.

I have listened to most of her albums and own several of them (I'm still building-up my collection). My favorite is, without a doubt, "I Primi Anni", a live in-concert recording from the early 90's. All of the tracks happen to be in English, and her renditions of popular songs are outstanding. I would highly recommend "I Primi Anni" to those wanting to see the extent of her talent. It is hard to get ahold of (you'll probably only find expensive used copies) but well worth it in my opinion. "I Primi Anni" is also sold as two separate albums called "Natural Woman" (my favorite) and "One More Go Round". Copies are occasionally available on Amazon (try the U.S. site as well as the UK, France, and Germany), but often quite expensive. Giorgia's other more recent albums are great, too, and are mostly sung in Italian. This is probably why she is not known by most of America. I don't know whether she will ever develop a bigger following in this country, but if more people heard her sing, I don't doubt that she would be extremely successful here. I have to say that I prefer that she is is more of a secret around here, though I wish her a well-deserved success outside of Italy.

Now about this specific album, "MTV Unplugged: Giorgia". I'd been waiting for this CD to come out ever since I read that Giorgia would be recording an MTV Unplugged concert. I was glad to learn that it was available on Amazon not long after its June 2005 release in Italy. Things I like about this particular CD are that it's a live recording, there are some new tracks, and she does renditions of some songs that I haven't heard her do before. One complaint I have is that there are many tracks I already have on other albums that really aren't arranged all that differently. Also, while Giorgia's voice is always right-on, some of her back-up singers and duets seems a bit off-key. This doesn't bother me too much, but I find it mildly distracting. I think I would have preferred her Unplugged concert to consist only of new tracks and new renditions of popular songs.

I guess what I really wanted was something more along the lines of "I Primi Anni". I'm still happy to own Giorgia Unplugged, and would recommend it to her fans that already appreciate her voice and music. For those who have not yet heard Giorgia, I would suggest starting with "I Primi Anni" or, for Italian tracks, one of her other albums. If you don't mind owning a greatest hits album, check out "Giorgia Greatest Hits: Le Cose Non Vanno Mai Come Credi", which contains most,but not all, of her best Italian songs.

Her single "Infinite Volte" makes this Cd worth every penny.

I heard Giorgia's amazing voice with her single Vivo Per lei with Andrea Bocelli and was immeadiately surprised as how she can hit every possible note in existence with ease. So, i immedialtely bought her CD "Senza ali". This CD brings to life her beautiful voice. The CD expresses a common theme thorughout the album, which is that she often dreams of flying. All of the songs recorded are incredible notably, "Senza ali", " di sole e d'azzuro", "girasole" and " un sole dentro al cuore" is a song that will make any individual content after listening to the lyrics and beautiful voice of the amazing Giorgia.

I first heard this album in a music store while doing an exchange in Italy. I randomly pressed track 3 (DI SOLE E D'AZZURRO) and was totally amazed by what I heard. ..., the melodies and music I receive from Giorgia's voice is absolutely priceless. Her voice is so powerful, yet sweet which leaves the listen feeling as though s/he is a part of the song. You'll never know what to expect the first time you listen to the album, but by the time you get used to it, it will be difficult to stop playing the album. She will either steal your heart or lift your spirits with her tracks. ...

Mangio Troppa Cioccolata was my favorite album. I liked about half of Senza Ali. Her vocal talent still seems to be escalating, but I expected more music-wise since Herbie Hancock helped on this album.

Giorgia is the equivalent of a pound of white sugar, it hits you hard and then it lets you down!
Teeny bopper at best, superficial and inconsequential

A Wonderful Voice a Wonderful CD........2002-02-17

I first heard Giorgia singing the Duet "Vivo Per Lay" with Andrea Bocelli on his Romanza CD. I instantly fell in love with her voice and search around for her CDs. I did not find any in the local stores but was glad to see Amazon carries a full slate. This CD Girsole is very good and I would divide it up into two types of songs. Pretty Love songs (or ballads) and Infectious pop songs that go from funky techno electrica to a bluesy rock feel. The Pretty love songs are; "Tradirefare"-which has a nice acoustic feel to it, it is also a pretty song with a sad feel. "Dicembre"-slow ballad with a great chorus. "Voglio Solo Te"- Wonderfully sang, a beatiful song. "Solo Amore, "Se Cj Sei," and "Il Cielo Una Stanza 99" again all wonderfully sang. The songs that very from pop to rock are Girsole, "Io Come Te"- A very catchy song with a rock blues feel, it almost reminds me of the fun Dobbie brothers songs. "E La Verita"- a very funky song, "Parlami D Amore" A bluesy song with pretty vocals that have a lot of emotion in them. "Dimmi Che Tieni"- Very cool funky song, again very catchy as are all the songs on this CD. And "What is love," a Very electronic song, very fast paced but with haunting vocals in the chorus, very cool. Giorgia's singing is excellent on all the songs, the musicians on the album are top notch and the harmonies are wonderful. Giorgia has a Wonderful Voice and Girasole is a Wonderful CD.

I was lucky enough to have found this CD just stumbling around Amazon's recommended titles... what a treasure it has turned out to be. Giorgia's voice is truly uncomparable, an amazing range and lots of emotion. The album has lots of great stylistic variety including pop-y fare to jazzy sounding stuff (Il cielo in una stanza '99) to some really beautiful ballads (Tradirefare). All of the tracks are pretty light lyrically, mostly proclamations of love, etc., which I personally don't mind at all, and if you don't understand Italian, then it really doesn't matter anyway. In sum, quite a pleasureable listening experience. I had never had any experience with Giorgia before but I am definitely going after her other albums. I'm hooked.

What a marvelous album. I picked this CD up in Milan this past spring and each time I listen to it, I feel sunshine on my back and a lump in my throat. Such sensuality and passion from a most unique and sensitive artist. To know the music of love is to listen to this album. Given the chance, Giorgia would receive far more acclaim than Andrea Bocelli in the states. If she can overcome the language barrier, look out! Each song on this CD is well written, beautifully versed and balanced between vocals and accompaniment. Giorgia's voice is passionate and real, and stands well on it's own merits. Although the words translated are beautiful and haunting, it is the exquisite blending of words and music that make this music memorable. This is one the best CDs I have ever heard. Lo compri! Bellissima..........2000-05-30

I can't say enough about this album. I first heard of Giorgia on a trip to Italy when I came across one of her older albums. Her amazing voice grabbed my attention on the first song. She has such a beautiful voice which makes this album a pleasure to listen to. Moreover, she sings about feelings that she has obviously experienced - otherwise she's done a great job of imagining those experiences - each and every word sung with such emotion. Standouts for me are 'Dimmi che ci tieni' and 'Il cielo in una stanza', though I haven't been able to stop playing the entire album since I bought it. I think you'd enjoy this album whether you understand the language or not, it's that fantastic. Plus the words are included in the album sleeve, so even if you don't understand them, you can still sing along!

Voice of an angel.......2004-08-10

I had the opportunity to hear this CD via a friend and what an amazing discovery. She has a magnificent voice, that of a true angel. My favourite songs on this album are Psalmus Ode, a total masterpiece, Like A Dream, a song that totally takes you to another planet and the Friend's of Mr. Cairo. This 13 song album has the best of Vangelis, the composer of the music for this CD. GioAria is an exciting artist, I am surprised I never heard from her in the past and I am not sure if this is her first album or not. Go for it!

Intriguing but rather flat.......2004-08-06

The idea of an italian soprano doing Vangelis vocal music may sound intriguing to many, as it was to me. But upon a cursory listen its main flaw becomes evident: all the songs are given a light "pop" treatment. Gioaria's voice is fine enough but lacks some more expressive range, all the tracks have more or less the same atmosphere, so four songs into the album you are no longer in for any surprises.
Maybe the main flaw actually is the absence of Vangelis himself. With him at the helm, this project may have come out very differently. I'd say seek out the originals instead.

This is a must have set of CD's. I saw the PBS Special and was captivated by the beautiful sounds and extremely wonderful and talented singers. I had to buy it and make it a part of my CD collection. You will not be disappointed with this purchase!
