A Japanese techno classic!.......2002-04-08
Amazon lists this item as simply "Denki Groove", but from the track listing I can see that it's their excellent CD "Dragon". This came out in 1994, and it was the first Denki Groove CD I ever heard. Needless to say, it blew me away! I don't speak Japanese, but as a techno/electronica fan I was amazed at their programming, mixing, and artistic expertise. Some of the tracks, like Popo and Noi Noi Noi are very "poppy", but the others are great techno showcases. Mujina dabbles into hardcore, and the Baron Dance/Kame Life mix is great. But Brazilian Cowboy has got to be one of the coolest techno tracks I've ever heard! It alone is worth the price of the CD. Denki never bores you, and even if you can't understand Japanese you'll be dancing and laughing at their flamboyant humor.

Voxxx Roxxx! (what a cheesy title).......2001-03-07
This album starts out with a little intro track with some lady speaking none other than Japanese. The next track, "Eine Kleine Melodie" is a really catchy tune that you'll be humming all the livelong day. "Eine Kleine Melodie" jumps right into "Nothing's Gonna Change" which is a good dance track. "Flashback Disco" is the next song, which is what it sounds like. "Chicken Sea", I won't lie, is a really silly song. The first time I heard it I got confused and hid in the corner of my room. "Homerun Tiger in a Bush" is a really cool song, which includes scratching and of course vocal sampling. "Themes From The Invader" is a very spacy song, and not just because a guy keeps saying space invader. "Edisonden" is my favorite song on Voxxx. This song includes horn sampling that sounds like it was taken from an 80's Anime. This song is heavy on vocal sampling but soon breaks out into the crazy beats. For another good dance track check out "TKO Techno Queen", which has a very oriental feel to it. The album ends on a very fun feel with "Hello! Mr. Monkey Magic Orcastra". This album contains 16 songs, which range from over 8 min ("Edisonden") to under 2 min ("Roukyoku Inbeder"). This album is heavy on the vocal sampling, if you haven't figured that out by now, but Denki Groove is so good that you don't have to be able understand Japanese to enjoy this album.
beware the space invaders.......2000-08-18
"nothing's gonna change" and "flashback disco" are both so so so good that it somehow salvages the rest of the album. the entire 20 minutes of space invader garbage is boring regardless of your japanese abilities. kind of funny, but gets old from the second time you hear it. these guys are very talented and clever, but listening to the whole thing at one time is kind of a drag. but please, do run out and get the "nothing's gonna change" single.
voxxx.......2000-07-19
The cd opens with a robotic voice greeting you with "Konnichiwa". It then introduces the band members and goes on about nonsence things while an upbeat tune plays around in the backround. It ends by introducing the next track. "Eine Kleine Melodie", the next track, is one of my favorite songs on the album. It's a happy little spin on the dancefloor filled with vocoded voices and playful synthesizers. "Nothing's Gonna Change" is a more traditional dance number, swooping computer effects and sweet, diva vocals. "Flashback Disco" is a song clad in polyester, swinging from a disco ball. One of the best the cd has to offer it. Other highlights are "Homerun Tiger in a Bush", a song filled with rabbid fans cheering for the Osaka Tigers and "Chicken Sea", which is Denki Groove as I'm used to, being silly. "TKO Tekno Queen" is also very good even though it is not what I'd expect from Denki Groove. It's a lot more serious than the other tracks and shows that Denki Groove is not being off-the-wall because of their lack of musical ability. The CD ends with "Hello! Mr. Monkey Magic Orchestra", a spaced out tack that see's Denki Groove doing the kind of song they do best. The only thing dragging the album down are the short transition tracks and "Themes from the Invader", both of which might become boring to non Japanese speakers.

voxx by denki groove.......2005-04-15
I VISITED JAPAN 6 YEARS AGO AND WENT LOOKING FOR JAPANESE ELECTRO AND STUMBLED ON D.G. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURATE ALBUMS OF THEIRS AND ALTHOUGH I DONT HAVE SUFFICIANT JAPANESE TO UNDERSTAND THE LYRICS I FIND IT A CRAZY AND REFRESHING CHANGE TO THE USUAL ELECRONIC MUSIC THAT WE TEND TO BUY THESE DAYS. THE USE OF SAMPLES AND THE MIX OF VARIOUS STYLES OF ELETRO ADDS TO THEIR UNUSUAL MUSIC. I FIND NYSELF TOTALLY ADDICTED TO THEIR ALBUMS AND IF YOU WISH TO FIND MORE LIKE THIS I SUGGEST LAST SUPPER. EACH SONG IS A UNIQUE WORK AND THEREFORE HARD TO QUANTIFY. UNLIKE MOST ARTISTS EACH ALBUM IS UNIQUE TOO. YOU ARE TAKEN ON A ROLLER COASTER RIDE THROUGH TECHNO ELECTRO HOUSE AND FREESTYLE ELECRONIC MUSIC. THE USE OF ENGLISH JAPANESE AND GERMAN IN THEIR ALBUMS MAKES FOR INTERESTING LISTENING. WITH SONGS ABOUT JUMPERS AND ICE DRINK PRODUCTS POCKET COWBOYS AND SPACE INVADERS I FIND IT BOTH CHEERFULLY ENTERTAINING AND TOTALLY UNIQUE. ALTHOUGH I WRITE THIS REVIEW ON VOXX I SPEAK FOR ALL THE D.G. STUFF CHECK THEM ALL OUT IF YOU CAN AND CHOOSE YOUR FLAVOUR THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.

Denki Groove rules!.......2002-06-27
Takkyu Ishino and company have certainly improved since their dorky early efforts. "Orange" had them upgrading their nutty electro sound to European techno standards. The fantastic "A" showed they could inject Orbital-style techno, Beastie Boys rap, and Morodorish disco tracks with an unparalleled infectious goofiness. Now, with "VOXXX", you've got house, digi-hip-hop, and YMO-style electronica in an alien-themed, totally bizzaro mix that any fan of creative electronic music will definitely dig. Sugoi!
Voxxx is superb........2002-03-28
The only reason Voxxx does not receive 5 stars is because of the couple weird songs that seem to not quite fit in with the rest of the cd. Voxxx is an excellent blend of techno and japanese hip hop. Denki fans will appreciate both the old school and new flavors of this album. For those who have never heard of Denki Groove, this is a must have.
