Product Description
This compact disc compilation includes two sessions completed sixteen years apart. Gypsy Fever was recorded in Watertown, Massachusetts in 1980 and Rom-Anadolu Session in Hollywood, Florida in 1996. The threads that run through both works include spontaneity of performance, original songs, and new arrangements. Also, three musicians, Ken Kalajian, George Stathos and I are playing on both recordings. Much of the material is drawn from the folk repertoire, but the spirit and the style of playing make the music ideal for danse orientale and its fusion offspring. - Joe Zeytoonian

Really Wonderful Music!.......2003-03-12
Danse Orientale Project was produced by Joe Zeytoonian. According to (brief) liner notes, it was recorded in two sessions 16 years apart. The first session is dubbed "Gypsy Fever" (1980) and the second "Rom-Anadolu" (1996). The music is original, "drawn from the folk repertoire."
While there may be modern instruments (like the harmonica) in some of these original songs, they still sound wonderfully traditional. Wonderful, gorgeous, lush music. This is a fabulous CD. The music is sensual, at times playful, always a pleasure to hear. There are a number of songs on here that would be a real joy to dance to. If you like the more traditional-sounding music, then this belongs in your collection. I fell in love with it on the first listen. I highly recommend this CD.
