Milagro Acustico’s latest endeavor, The Rubaiyyat of Omar Khayyam, is based on the quatrains of the 12th century Persian poet and scientist.

The quatrains were translated into the Sicilian dialect with the exception of two songs in which the original Persian language was used. Traditional instruments from the Mediterranean regions were incorporated throughout including the mandolino, marranzano, daf, tarr, and darbouka as well as instruments from Persia: the santur and duduk.

Like previous works of Milagro Acustico, The Rubaiyyat of Omar Khayyam, is a concept record. The realization of the project required more than two years of work.

What has been produced is a moving interpretation of the poet’s work and a brilliant blending of cultures and traditions.

Great for "alone time" or background for adult party.......2007-05-10

This CD is fantastic for those times when you want some music playing while you concentrate on a cerebral task or just need some "meditation" music. It also makes a great background CD for a mature party. My guests commented very positively on it when it came up in rotation at my last dinner party. It also made a nice addition to a romantic, candle-lit dinner with my girlfriend. All in all, a versatile little disc.
