5 out of 5 stars More Great Music from Austin.......2002-08-08

A tale of two musicians: one is a hong-haired American icon with a track record of pushing musical boundries and appealing to an ever-widening audience of listeners. The other is more likely to pass for an attorney or a Federal Judge(he is). One spends lots of time honing his craft "On the Road Again". John Blinn, on the other hand, is patiently composing in a MIDI studio based on his own travel experiences("Notes From The Road, "Going Again", "Portraits"). What these two Austin-based musicians have in common, however, is surprising: both display the remarkable ability to produce and arrange a variety of emininetly listenable music reflecting their willingness to stretch and experiment ; both have recent recordings mastered with the help of Jerry Tubb at Terra Nova Digital Audio; and both are capable of surprising fans with a new dimension in their repertoire.

The majority of Blinn's pieces on his latest release called "Riding A Camel In Cuba" are musical reflections on his time spent recently in Cuba, whereas "air-conditioned station wagon stop light encounter blues"(sic.) features John's recitation about a chance meeting between a suburban couple and a former high school classmate. Kudos to this prolific artist who continues to present the listener with recordings of the highest quality designed to share a musical vision.
