If you liked the movie "Sangue Viva" or yearn to become familiar with the authentic traditional folk groups of Campagnia, Puglia, Calabria, or Sicily, this CD is for you. This is one of the best performing and sounding groups across all of the regions formally known as the "Kingdom of Two Sicilies". The legendary sound of Arakne Mediterranea is characteristically portrayed in this album. Instead of travelling to the University of Lecce to learn about this genre, one can find the ensemble of authentic instruments and voices well-preserved in these carefully produced tracks. Throw your Italian dictionary away, as the group sings in Pugliese-Salentino-Sicula languages, the same spoken by many from the wave of Italian immigrants to America. Close your eyes, and imagine being there to hear and see the traditional tarantella dances and songs from very old.
