Lena Ka, having truncated her last name from Lena Kann, has recorded a solid album. Unlike other French albums that I have listened to, Ka's album holds from beginning to end. Her voice and music choices are well-suited. The flow of the album is not disrupted by any music-deviating genre track as some chanteurs often stumble over.
For a non-native French speaker, her singing has clarity, which one could follow and sing along with. The title track is a gentle lullaby, as well as 'Papillion' ("Butterfly"). 'Sage' captures the essence of a French folk-chanteuse. While her duet with Italian singer Umberto Tozzi is an anthem of love declaration, 'Tous Les Cris Les S.O.S.' contains an anthemic quality on a different level. The concluding tracks leaves the listener anticipating for Ka's follow-up album--whenever she is ready to record more songs.
Preferably, I listen to the first seven tracks separate from the latter half of the album--like two sides of a music cassette.
