Great vocal warmup, especially of breath control, with unique syllabic exercises!.......2007-06-17
I am a piano teacher who also teaches voice, and this CD has been a lifesaver for me, it has helped improve problems with my voice students that
common popular exercises have failed to achieve. The breath control exercises especially have been an enormous help, and my students find them
not only challenging but fun as well. The warmup exercises are a little unique, bringing in tweet, hweet, and unique ways to improve sound production with exercises that combine air production with compression against the lips and teeth. The exercises as a whole help students with the lower register as well as the upper, and effectively improve power without yelling. A great program, I highly recommend!
Enjoyment.......2007-05-20
I haven't had the opportunity to review it for myself. However, my niece in california was so excited to receive this. She said she's enjoying it. She's working on her vocals daily.
great service.......2007-05-13
Came really quickly and just in time! I needed some help warming up for an early morning service I had to sing for and I was hoarse. this really helped.
Good tool.......2007-05-12
I find this material very useful. The teacher makes it feel like you are in actual face to face voice lessons. Technically acceptable.
GREAT INVESTMENT.......2007-03-09
IT COVERS THE BASICS AND THAT'S PERFECT FOR ME. IF YOU ARE MORE ADVANCED AND HAVE HAD PRIOR VOICE LESSONS YOU MAY FIND THIS TO BE TOO SIMPLE TECHNIQUES. I ENJOYED FOLLOWING THE EXERCISES AND REPATING THEM. I WILL DEFINATELY BUY THE NEXT VOLUME. [...]

Whether Tom Cruise's portrayal of a 19th century American soldier cum samurai warrior will be remembered with the same pangs of pop-cultural bemusement that befell John Wayne playing Genghis Khan remains to be seen. But its musical soundtrack does mark an auspicious occasion: pop musician-turned-composer Hans Zimmer's 100th score since beginning his film career in 1988. A pioneer of fusing both the electronic and orchestral and the Westernized with the indigenous, Zimmer does both here with skill, drawing heavily on samples of the traditional Taiko (a massive Japanese drum) for its rhythmic action sequences, while constructing a melodic Western motif for Cruise's character that's both centerpiece and counterpoint for the score's transcultural intent. Aside from the brief, ominous thunder of the expected action/suspense boilerplate, Zimmer has constructed passages of gentle, Asian-inflected pastoralism that have parallels with much of his evocative work on The Thin Red Line. Those cues are the score's very soul, a canvas against which his more traditional themes reverberate all the stronger. --Jerry McCulley

If you liked Dances With Wolves this is it in Japan - I do think it is Tom C's best movie. The sound track is excellent - Zimmer also did Batman Returns which has a fantastic soundtrack - Hans is comming on
A Diverse Score from the Land of the Rising Sun.......2007-03-02
I always love it when composers branch out and write music that you would never expect them to write, yet retaining their own trademark sound. Here, Hans Zimmer utilizes his own, recognizable sound, where you know it's him with eastern instrumentation, such as Taiko drums, the shakuhachi (a staple in Horner scores lately), and the koto harp. It's east meets west, a route in which Tan Dun took on in the film "Hero", and Zimmer's score follows many of those same musical ideas, only not quite as eastern sounding as Dun's score.
The main theme is a powerful 7-note anthem which tends to build its way up each time, as in "A Way of Life", "Spectres in the Fog", "Idyll's End", and "Safe Passage". You can tell it is a Zimmer theme just by its sound, but with the oriental flavor thrown in, it really adds to the mix.
The action music in the score is exciting with energetic Taiko drums keeping the pulse moving. They do not get tiresome, as you might think because Zimmer uses them more like a heartbeat, not a heart attack! "Red Warrior" is a powerful anthem, consisting of japanese warrior chants, which really add to the scope of the sound. Other noteworthy tracks are "Ronin" and "The Way of the Sword", which are enjoyable pieces of music.
I was pleased of the results of Zimmer's work here. It showcases Zimmer's diversity with his music. I hope he gets the opportunity to write more diverse scores such as this. The Da Vinci Code is certainly one of them!
One of the best themes ever composed.......2007-02-28
This soundtrack is brilliant, and Hans Zimmer even more. He is truly one of the great film composers. The Last Samurai's sounds never fail to draw emotion from me.

The Most Simple Exercise Songs For Young Children From Bobby Susser.......2006-05-22
I have three day care centers in Florida where music and exercise are favorites in the curriculum for my little children. This collection of very simple songs and exercises is just that. It shows, through the repetition of catchy lines, that Bobby Susser is very aware of children's needs. Susser knows that when he hits upon something catchy for the kids and through his repetition of lyrical and musical phrases, not to let up, giving the kids just what they want. He doesn't give them too much, but enough so they are thoroughly interested, satisfied, and enthusiastic. He knows when to keep going, and when to let up. For those of you who work with kids, you know the importance of repetition. Bobby Susser has mastered repetition of very catchy sections of songs he's created and in doing so, holds children's interest, gives them a heck of a good time, and teaches them all at the same time. I majored in preschool education and music, and believe me, Bobby Susser is a subtle master at teaching through his simple, catchy, songs with repetetive phrases written especially for little ones.
THIS CD IS OLD TRIED AND TRUE.......2006-05-04
I AM A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER AND HAVE USED THIS ALBUM IN CASSETTE FIRST. THEN I BOUGHT THE CD WHEN MY TAPE WORE OUT. I JUST GOT ANOTHER CD BECAUSE I GAVE A TEACHER FRIEND THE CD TO BORROW. SHE LOVED IT SO MUCH FOR HER KINDERGARTEN CLASS THAT SHE ASKED IF SHE COULD KEEP IT. I GAVE IT TO HER AS A GIFT, AND I AM ENJOYING WORKING WITH MY NEW CD, AND WATCHING MY CLASS ENJOY THEMSELVES WHILE THEY EXERCISE AND LEARN OTHER GOOD HEALTH HABITS TO THESE CATCHY SONGS."WIGGLE WIGGLE AND OTHER EXERCISES" IS ONE EARLY CHILDHOOD ALBUM YOU CAN SURELY LABEL AS 'OLD TRIED AND TRUE.' IT NEVER FAILS TO WORK WITH THE KIDS.
The Benchmark Exercise Album For Young Children.......2005-10-24
While B.B. King is the benchmark guitarist for playing the blues, Ray Charles, the benchmark singer for combining soul and gospel music, Barbra Streisand the benchmark vocalist for her range and clarity, Paul Simon, the benchmark singer/songwriter for telling his stories in song format, and Bob Dylan, the benchmark singer/songwriter for using unique phrases and the delivery of them, Bobby Susser's album "Wiggle Wiggle And Other Exercises" is undoubtedly the benchmark album for original songs for young children to exercise to. I am a kindergarten teacher, and I specialize in teaching music, and subjects through music. I have used virtually every collection of songs available for young children to sing along with and exercise to. Some are OK, and some are somewhat good. However, if you want the real thing, Bobby Susser gives it to you in every exercise song in this collection. The repetition of his catchy phrases and melodies is not boring, but rather very successful in teaching the kids the songs and exercises, and in keeping the children always interested. He's a master at using repetition in a positive way for children. It is very obvious, after seeing the children respond immediately to the simple rhythms, friendly vocal deliveries, and all the fun and easy to learn songs that convey the importance of exercise, good health habits, having fun, and incorporating these ideas into your daily routine at an early age, Bobby Susser knows how to make the very most of a song, and a simple 'Wiggle' for young children like noone else I've heard in the nineteen years I've taught little children.
When you listen to the songs "Wiggle Wiggle", "March Around In A Circle", "Let's Pretend", "Hello Hello Goodbye Goodbye", and "Rest Awhile", it is apparent that Bobby Susser is no accident and creates collections for young children that makes children's music history the first time any of his titles are heard. Anyone can easily tell that he cares and is dedicated to the children.
The Finest Kid Songs For Kid Exercises From Bobby Susser.......2005-05-05
This album has everything you possibly want and need for an exercise album for young kids. My preschool class never tires of "Wiggle Wiggle And Other Exercises." Every song is so catchy and exciting for my class. Every song states a purpose, and has printed lyrics and suggested activities in the teacher/parent notes booklet. Subjects covered are developing gross and fine motor skills, coordination, right/left discrimination, listening skills, rhythm, counting, and good health habits, while exercising, and singing. Bobby Susser ends this great collection with a soothing rest song for the kids. This album has it all.
Bobby Susser's Songs And Exercises Are #1 On My Kids' List.......2005-04-04
I'm a first grade teacher who has worked with exercises, and movement songs with my kids. From day to day and year to year this Bobby Susser album "Wiggle Wiggle And Other Exercises" is #1 on my kids' list. The songs are very catchy, but also simple enough for young kids to easily learn. The beats and rhythms are excellent for my young class. They quickly learn the songs and exercises, and have loads of fun doing and learning important health and exercise habits that will benefit them throughout their lives.

Tristano was a jazz genius.......2007-02-27
Mixed in with many of the more well known jazz musicians were some wonderful musicians that other musicians knew and loved, but the general public knew little about. Unfortunately, Tristano was one of these. A brilliant composer and pianst, his body of music is often hard for the average listener to access, since it didn't always follow along "traditional" lines. I always thought of Tristano as the technically magnificent Monk, but that sells both musicians short. Tristano was his own man, and the music that poured out from him was challenging, but always brilliant. It is a crime against nature and Tristano that the recording company left "C Minor Complex" off of this CD, though. Obviously, whoever made this CD knew very little about the music.
A very important jazz record from an underestimated genius.......2004-05-07
Lennie Tristano was a piano genius and also a master of arranging and making new and inspirational jazz music. The best example is here in this double package of his 2 most well-known jazz records: Lennie Tristano from 1955 and The New Tristano from 1962. The first contains the 4 masteful compositions Line Up, Requiem, Turkish Mambo and East Thirty-Second Street which is brilliant in its use of time changes, melody lines and atmosphere. Requiem is a great tribute to Charlie Parker who died the same year as this record was made. The rest of the record is 5 live recordings with Lee Konitz on tenor sax. Ghost of a chance is a very fine version. Lennie was a fan of the long, emotional improvisational line on the piano, and this is most evident in the solo record The New Tristano. This is a great piano classic with Lennie mixing in classical inspirations as well as bop, stride and whatever path his feelings lead him to in the creation of the music. My favourites here are Becoming, Love Lines and G Minor Complex. Absolutely essential jazz. Another record which is recommended is the hard-to-get Descent In the Maelstrom with the incredible title track.
difficult, but excellent jazz.......2000-06-15
Immortalized in Jack Kerouac's On the Road, this CD features Lennie Tristano in a variety of settings. If Bill Evans is the most colorful piano player jazz has ever produced, then Tristano is certainly the most "black and white", as his playing focuses on technique and composition rather than feeling. This takes a little bit of getting used to, even if you're a jazz fan; his playing at first might seem a little clunky and off-kilter, but it defintiely uncovers new rewards with each listen. In my opinion the only drawback is the live recordings, which, despite the prescence of the excellent Lee Konitz, aren't quite as special as the rest.
Great music; poor release........2000-01-21
If you are at all interested in the art of solo jazz piano you _must_ listen to this CD, which contains two Tristano albums, 'Lennie Tristano' (which also includes his trio), and 'The New Tristano' (which doesn't). The first of these albums features Tristano's revolutionary use of overdubbing, which led critics in the fifties to savage this album; many considered the technique as being somehow 'anti-jazz'. To answer these critcs/iques Tristano recorded 'The New Tristano' which used no overdubbing. Many people feel that this album is his masterwork. Here his improvisations have the intellectual rigour of the Bach preludes and fugues, while maintaining a strong swinging forward motion reminiscent of Art Tatum. Some of the best 'line playing' in jazz can be found here -- I love this album! The only reservation I have with this 'two for one' release is that the crown jewel of 'The New Tristano', 'C Minor Complex', is not included for lack of space. This is almost an insult to Tristano's memory, and at least a crying shame. This muck-up could be compared to leaving 'So What' off Miles Davis's 'Kind of Blue'. For this reason I give this CD 4, not 5 (or 10 if I could) stars.

This CD brings together some of the greatest cool jazz ever recorded--Tristano's 1949 sextet sessions for Capitol and Marsh's 1956 masterpiece Jazz of Two Cities. Tristano's sessions (which feature Marsh and Lee Konitz on sax) are breathtaking displays of exciting and intellectually challenging bop, and the final two cuts--"Intuition" and "Digression"--prefigure free jazz. While less adventurous, Marsh's 1956 outing (with Ted Brown on tenor sax) is a beautiful collection of standards and originals. It clearly demonstrates why Tristano thought Marsh was one of the great jazz improvisers. --Bill Holdship
Customer Reviews:
Way Ahead of the Times!.......2002-08-29
Tristano was a musician more talked about than listened to during his heyday. But he was way ahead of his time...really music hasn't truly caught up with him (as it hasn't really caught up with any of the great innovators.) This album contains all of Tristano's classic 1949 sides recorded for Capitol with his sextet. On the surface, this stuff sounds like bop...but listen closely, it is really another world.
Most of the tunes are based on traditional chord changes, like bop heads. But the heads are more intricate, requiring more arrangement, sometimes quite complex arrangement. Warne Marsh and Lee Konitz are terrific in their solos. Both show a penchant for long winding lines that explore the farthest reaches of the chord changes, and an approach to rhythm that is both smooth and angular at the same time. The phrasing is quick and light, but the accents of the lines reach accross the time signatures.
Tristano is a wonder. He was the master of the impossibly long line...melodic material spins out from his fingers in seemingly endless streams. Tristano is all about invention. He doesn't seem to have any licks at all. You never know where line will end up. It is endlessly inventive and exciting playing. And his harmonic structure is nearly Scriabinesque.
The revolutionary cuts from this period are Intuition and Digression. Both are examples of completely free playing, something that Tristano'sgroups had been experimenting with for many years in their live gigs. This is not the kind of free playing that you would hear from the great avant-gardists of the 60's. Rather, it is full of feeling, but not emotive...exploratory but not dissonant for dissonance's sake. The players form an almost telepathic bond, with motives and phrases past around from member to member. The freedom, which is intense, never descends into chaos, as it could in the worst examples of the New York energy school. And Tristano, like Cecil Taylor after him, directs everything from the keyboard. These are experiments, but ones that every musician should hear. Close study of Tristano would put alot of energy back into the worn out "New Traditionalist" movement in jazz.
The Warne Marsh cuts from the late 50s initially disappointed me, partly because I hadn't looked carefully at the cover info, and I was expecting all Tristano. Compared to the adventurousness of the 1949 cuts, the Marsh sides sound like alot of other "West Coast School" jazz albums. But that's just a superficial reading of the recordings. More careful listening shows that Marsh really profitted from his time in New York with Tristano. His lines are still exploratory and "out" in a way that Chet Baker and even Gerry Mulligan never really approached. Marsh may have been one of the more underrated tenor players of the 50's. This set swings, but repays careful listening as well.
tThe remastering of the sides is terrific. They both sound much more modern than their dates would suggest...the Tristano sides sound cleaner than I've ever heard them, even on vinyl!
So get this disc for the Tristano sides, they are classic. But the Marsh sides are worth a listen too. You owe it to yourself to listen to these searching musicians. They will expand your appreciation of the art form of jazz.
Thank you Amazon Listomania!.......2001-10-05
If not for listomania and the people who have chosen this cd as one of their favorites; as well as giving it glowing reviews, I never would have found it. I've never heard of Lennie Tristano in my life, but after finding this cd on Amazon I thought that I would give it a try. You can tell by my rating that I was very pleased with the results. Thanks again, everyone who recommended this one to me. I never would have discovered it without you guys.
this music sounds as fresh today as the day it was recorded!.......1999-07-26
Years ago as a high school student, one evening after midnight, I turned on my bedside radio and came upon radio station WJZ from New York. The DJ was Symphony Sid Torin who played jazz from midnight to five A.M. That was the first time heard WOW which appears on this CD. That tune got me hooked on the players of the Tristano school. The music was entirely different than what was happening at the time and remains so today. This music sounds as fresh today as the day it was recorded. All tunes except Digression and Intuition which are the first recorded attempts at free form playing, are based on the chord progressions of standard tunes. Marionette is September in the rain, Sax of a kind is on the Fine and Dandy changes and so forth. The Warne Marsh Quintet recordings originally released in mono as Jazz of Two Cities and stereo as The Winds of Marsh, are a lot looser and more swinging. Every selection in this CD has stood the test of time. I had the 78rpm copies of the Tristano material, later on LP, and also the Warne Marsh LP. The Warne Marsh tracks also feature tenor saxophonist Ted Brown who I believe to be the freshest improviser in jazz today. Two fine examples of Ted's more current playing can be heard on the Lee Konitz CD called Figure and Spirit and Ted's own date for Criss Cross called Free Spirit. Don't miss hearing it.
The greatest cool jazz artists you never heard of...........1999-01-13
After falling in love with The Cool (Chet Baker, Mulligan, Miles, McCoy Tyner and others) I was searching for new names. BINGO. This recording is up there with the best of the them. Buy this if you're wondering if anything will ever approach birth of the cool....
This is beautiful music by some under-appreciated musicians.......1998-12-02
Before buying this wonderful CD, I had read that Lennie Tristano was an under-appreciated musical genius. After buying it, I understand that he was a genius and needs to be listened to by more people. I can't believe that Tristano was making music like this in the late '40s. It is complex, but beautiful. The song "Yesterdays" is a flowing melody between piano and guitar that is one of the prettiest pieces of music I have ever heard. I sincerely hope that more music enthusiasts will introduce themselves to Lennie Tristano.
By the way, the Warne Marsh tracks are almost as beautiful. Buy this music!!!

Longtime Van Morrison fans may prefer the Belfast bard's tougher, emphatically R&B-driven work, yet it's his lusher, mid-'80s output that helped him consolidate the scrappy gains made in the prior decades. The once-heightened polarity between the earthy and the ethereal seemed muted on albums that traded in a softer-focus, romantic mysticism mirrored by the expanded scale of Morrison's band and arrangements, and left room for him to dabble in instrumental compositions or his renewed love of sax and piano. No Method, No Guru, No Teacher proves among the more durable, convincing chapters in this era, carrying a now-familiar array of symbolic touchstones (the Celtic legacy of "Tir Na Nog" or an extended instrumental allusion to a hymn set to William Blake's musings on England) and offering two of Morrison's better meditations on redemption, "In the Garden" and "A Town Called Paradise," which echoes the fevered waltz-time trance of "Astral Weeks" itself. --Sam Sutherland
Customer Reviews:
One of Van's Classics.......2007-06-29
It's a shame that this phase of Van's career is over. This is just a brilliant recording of the bard from Belfast.
outstanding mid-period van morrison release........2007-02-20
mid-period morrison (1986) here, and an oustanding release at that. despite ending with the the fantastic rollicking up-tempo number "ivory tower," the rest of this beautiful set is comprised of mid-tempo to slow-tempo numbers. plenty of back up vocals from a group of four fine ladies add a lushness to the record that serves it well, and saxophones and trumpets and the oboe add tasteful touches along the way. van's vocals are wonderful, as usual, with perhaps a cleaner, clearer ennunciation than on some of his more recent releases. a fantastic album from beginning to end. highly recommended.
One of Van's understated albums.......2006-03-19
A very understated album from Van Morrison prior to release of his critically acclaimed "Poetic Champions Compose". Van engages in some deep introspection on "Got to Go Back" and "In the Garden", the latter which addresses the album title.
Van draws on Irish folk music to pen the beautiful "One Irish Rover" and pays homage to the Gaelic language in "Tir Na Nog" - land of the young.
A very laid back album full of hauntiing and romantic songs in the genre that preceded Van's "blues period" about 10 years later.
Six songs for the ages.......2006-02-01
The first six songs on this disc stack up against any music I've heard in my 35 years as a collector, and the last four are pretty darn good, too. This record and the one that followed, Poetic Champions Compose, show an artist continuing to make great music long after exiting the pop music spotlight. Van Morrison has had an extraordinary career--remarkably, largely under the radar--and these songs are a beacon to his fertile middle period. Essential.
The Best.......2006-01-08
This is Van Morrison's best studio album, and I have heard them all.
In fact this is one of the ten best albums made by anyone, anywhere, in any era or genre.

Album Description
Teacher Therapy is a collection of 13 humorous songs written especially for teachers. Judy Domeny Bowen, songwriter and longtime educator, performs her original songs accompanying herself on acoustic guitar. Judy's funny songs reflect day-to-day happenings and emotions every teacher experiences. These songs will make any teacher laugh out loud and say "I've done that very same thing!" Judy sings of "Happy Snow Days," of the "February Teacher Blues," of the "Million Things" for which a teacher is responsible, of concern for a foster child in "Brandon Moved Away," of dreaded "Faculty Meetings", of the "Schoolteacher Stampede" to get snacks in the workroom and much more. Every teacher you know needs a copy of Teacher Therapy to play for the humor and stress-relief it provides at the end of a long day, at faculty meetings, or at any gathering of educators.

Hilarious--And TRUE!.......2003-12-15
These songs sure hit home with me--and made me laugh at myself! I think Judy Domeny Bowen must have been in my classroom looking over my shoulder when she wrote these songs. Simply done with one voice and one guitar, clarity of words is great. I highly recommend it! I'm planning to buy them as gifts for my teacher friends!
its okay - not as I expected.......2003-12-07
After hearing such great reviews on amazon, and being a new teacher I thought his would be a great cd that i could listen to and pass on to my collegues. Honestly, I would not agree with the rest of the reviewers, yeah some of the songs are pretty funny, but everyone song is the same. They all sound identicial and I had a hard time listening to the whole cd. I don't know - I guess I was expecting more upbeat and a cd that I just had to listen to. The songs on this Cd are very folkish, and its really hard not to tune them out, and if the lyrics is what makes the songs so funny, if i am tuning them out - i am not listening to the lyrics.
I'll still pass the cd along to my collegues - maybe they'll enjoy it more than i did. Overall, nothing great, could have lived without it, not worth much more than 3 stars.
We all love it!.......2003-06-11
I have laughed and laughed over the songs on Teacher Therapy! My kids are absolutely nuts about this CD, too. It gives them an inside look at teachers that they think is so funny. We sing along with the songs in the car. I've even played it in my classroom and my students have a great time listening to it. After I received my copy I ordered 3 more CDs for friends of mine. They love it, too!
The Best!.......2003-06-06
This is the BEST CD about Teachers and their lives that has ever been recorded! Everybody that has stood in sensible shoes in front of a group of small students will relate to all that Judy has to say! It's all soooo true! It's also good music, presented in a clear and folksy manner! Fun and a truly inspirational CD - YOU'VE GOT TO HEAR IT!
Teacher Therapy.......2003-05-15
This album is wonderful. I tried to play just one song at a teachers' workshop, and everybody wanted to hear more. The words are sung with such clarity that evreyone can understand them, and the messages are so relevant that some of the audience was clapping and cheering!

Album Description
Wino is back. Revered in the hard rock/heavy metal work with bands like ST.VITUS, THE OBSESSED and SPIRIT CARAVAN, Wino started this band not only as a means to create powerful music, but to address the disillusioned political apathy of our time. One of the most intense albums you'll hear, musically, lyrically and emotionally. Wino's profile is at an all-time high after helping to promote last year's PROBOT album, on which he appears.
Customer Reviews:
One of Wino's Best .......2007-05-12
An excellent output from one of my favorite doom riff masters and friends.
As a matter of fact I think this might be my all time favorite release from Wino and co. in anyone of his many fine vehicles. It is that good!!
The lyric are sharp biting political commentary and the music is some of Wino's finest ever including his St. Vitus efforts. The vocals are also as good as I have heard on any recent doom release. This Cd stands tall next to not only Wino's work but also along side all time classic doomsters like Trouble , Candlemass, Electric Wizard etc..So do not hesitate to buy it and play it loud !!! Let There Be Doom !!!!
Stoner/Doom Fans Rejoice!!.......2005-11-03
A damn masterpiece! A total genre (re)definining work of art! If you're into bands of the stoner doom type, or are any kind of "Wino" fan... what are you waiting for... you NEED this album!
intelligent stoner rock.......2005-10-22
right from the start, this album lurches forward with a heavy sound and a solid groove. the music is heavy, but tuneful and never sways too far away from it's foundations in pure rock and roll. there are lots of different textures and moods applied and some amazing and thoughtful arrangements. i especially dug the song "Half Mast", with it's rolling basslines and acoustic guitars; showing an appreciation for prog rock and even a little bit of blues. the production of this record is stellar and manages to capture the intensity of the band's live show without losing a bit of the crystal clear sound quality. but above all, the songs just shine with brilliance and a sense of maturity that one would come to expect from the seasoned doom veteran behind the guitar and microphone. if there is such a thing as as intelligent doom stoner rock, then The Hidden Hand have set the template for how it should be done. a cornerstone album.
The first Doom poets?.......2005-06-06
Wino have done very interesting things in the field of Doom metal, St Vitus, The Obssessed and now The Hidden Hand , were doom metal is taken to a next level, to another building, sabbath riffs, Floydesque philosophy and melancholic and progresive changes of structures , also very deligthfull intrumental pieces , the sound of this charming trio is very heavy, poetic in lyrics and visual concept and artwork is appealing in a way hard to be described in words, Wino from my point of view can be easily defined as a visionary musician a key for the future of heavy music, lets see if this their second offer reaches the status of classic as some crtics have described "mother Teacher Destroyer"
HM
Heavy, Heavy, Heavy, Heavy, Heavy........2005-06-03
This time around Wino and the boys take it slow, really slow and add a few layers of ultra-heaviness to the recording. On my first listen, I was a bit disappointed at the lack of melody and "dirge-like" tempo to most of the songs. I thought of Spinal Tap's "Stonehenge" about 30 seconds into the album. On repeated listenings, however, the album really grows on you. The slower tempos really set a mood; and enhances the listeners ability to hear and absorb the lyrics. There is also some tasty organ playing throughout which adds a bit of a psychedelic flavor to a few tunes. Most importantly, Wino rips off some of his best lead breaks in recent memory.
All in all a worthy sophmore effort and must purchase for any fan of the band or Wino's music.
