I play this CD at the end of my day when I want to unwind and de-stress. It naturally calms you and helps you to relax.

As a life-long insomniac (only kid in kindergarten with bags under his eyes), finding this disc was a true godsend. I bought it on a whim and didn't really learn of its magic until years later, when I got divorced and went through a spell of even worse-than-usual sleepless nights. I found that playing it softly on repeat was enough to help me drop off every time. Not only that, but whenever I woke during the night the waves were there to wash me right back into dreamland. It's been several years now, and a happy second marriage has helped me sleep better, but when I have those tough nights "Ocean Waves" is still there to help me through. Possibly the best money I ever spent on a CD.

Great - - four tracks of beautiful & relaxing sounds of ocean waves! Although description on "CD case" mentions sounds of sea lions/sea gulls, I'm unaware of "sounds of creatures", which is an asset for sleeping. I put this CD on repeat & sleep with these beautiful sounds of ocean waves. So much - - for such a low price! Highly recommend!

Relaxing to Ocean Waves of the Echoes of Nature CD.......2007-01-27

I am sitting here listening to the CD as I type. We live 20 miles from
the Gulf Coast of Florida and don't always get a chance to go to the
beach, so this is as close as I get. I love listening to the calming
sound of the waves rushing into the beach and I was pleasantly surprised
to hear the sea gulls. I highly recommend this CD as a relaxation tech-
nique for those like me who have trouble unwinding at the end of the day.
I also highly recommend the "Thundering Rainstorms" CD.
This society that we all live in is always, "Rush, Rush, Rush" and these
CD's have a real calming effect. LOVE THEM!!!!

With his sensational score to the third Ocean's movie, David Holmes sends the cool-o-meter into the red zone--if the film itself matched his explosive cues, it'd be the most stylish, kinetic thing Hollywood had produced in eons. Never mind that the action is set in Vegas: The vibe here is Swinging London seen through psychedelia-tinted lenses, and augmented with wacked-out Ennio Morricone touches and late '60s/early '70s va-va-voom funk. Every track brims with finger-snapping details, like the great bass line on "Zippo," the cool bongos-and-horns combo on "Earthquake," or the aggressive battle royale between electric guitar and synthesizer on "Fender Roads." Holmes takes a break for a couple of numbers in the middle: Puccio Roelens' insane cover of "Caravan" and Isao Tomita's switched-on early-'70s interpretation of Debussy on the Moog synthesizer. Tucked at the end is the CD's token nod to Vegas, Frank Sinatra's take on Lee Hazlewood's "This Town." Just listen to the horns on this baby: They explode out of the speakers. I agree with the above reviewer that i have also enjoyed all the Oceans sountracks to date and Ocean Thirteen is no exception. the problem is that the term soundtrack implies that the songs heard in the Trailer and Movie would be on the CD. This CD is/would better labled as "The Score" with a few extra songs by additional artists.
Not nearly what i was expecting, but still enjoyable.

Missing Opening Song.......2007-07-22

This soundtrack is excellent, as expected, with great songs that perfectly fit the scenes and the drama of the movie. However, there's at least one missing song, as always happens with soundtracks...
"Neil Richardson - The Riviera Affair" is the song played in the opening credits.

Slick, fun and fabulous.......2007-06-18

All of the "Ocean's" movies have incredible music, and "Ocean's Thirteen" is no exception. The music is so unique: jazz, funk and techno all rolled into one. My biggest complaint is that most of the tracks are incredibly short (under two minutes in length), but that's the case with most movie soundtracks. The best tracks on this album are "Not Their Fight," which is a variation of the theme music used in all the "Ocean's" movies; "Snake Eyes," which is the music that plays in the film during the ingenious three-minute heist scene; and Frank Sinatra's utterly fantastic rendition of "This Town." The "Ocean's" movie soundtracks are always as slick as the films themselves. I'll listen to this CD again and again.

Settle Some Confusion.......2007-06-17

This is a great soundtrack, and I'd thought I'd settle some confusion about the "missing" trailer music. The track is called "Five Diamond Men", and it's exclusive for purchase on iTunes, along with a remix of "This Town" by Frank Sinatra, though there's no reason in hell they should EVER remix a Sinatra song.

Anyway, great album. Too bad about the iTunes exclusive.

Mate, if you've been catching the same trailer as I have recently then the song in question is actually from the OST "Out Of Sight" which of course Holmes also scored, his first collaboration with Soderbergh. Not sure of the exact name of the tune but its on there somewhere (if of course we're talking about the same trailer and song!!).

I saw the movie last weekend and the soundtrack was one of the highlights for sure but that is always the case with Holmes; he's a legend and I'd give any work of his 6 stars if the option was there - fresh, innovative, at times challenging but always, always uber-cool.

The idea of remaking the Rat Pack's infamous shaggy-dog story cum Vegas heist thriller may have seemed ludicrous without a Rat Pack. If you really want the music...........2007-07-04

DAVID HOLMES made a name with this soundtrack, and to get his name out, he sent out a PROMO COPY for the OSCAR race. now, i don't normally recommend downloading music but it IS ILLEGAL to buy this CD as it was not intended to be bought. i am lucky to OWN it as i bought it on EBAY it its THE ENTIRE SCORE - NO DIALOGE. Its less then 45 mins in length and has 35 tracks if i am not mistaken. it worth getting. my friend have downloaded it off of TORRENTRACTOR or TORRENTSPY and i recommend you do that, plus add the tracks you get here and make a COMPLETE soundtrack. that what i did.

Dialogue helped and hurt........2007-05-21

I understand why some listeners are frustrated that the film's dialogue was included with some of the tracks. For the most part, I enjoy how it brings back memories of this very clever film. But there are times where I wish I didn't have to hear it. Wouldn't it be nice if this was produced like the musical instrument lesson books with CD's that have one set of songs as solo and one set of songs with accompaniment? I'd love that choice. Funny, though, how I never notices some of the background music in scenes. I love those old songs, and would love to be able to have those songs without dialogue. All in all, I am satisfied with this CD. I am glad I knew ahead of time that this was produced so "uniquely".

Oceans Eleven Soundtrack.......2007-05-13

Some songs are a mix of lines and music (mostly moments) from the movie. There are several uninterrupted music only selections. The songs fall in chronological order and all have the same modern, funk. My personal favorite is the rap song (which also has a heavy amount of funk)which is shown in the movie just as Brad Pitt's character is introduced and giving his poker classes. It's funky without being hard or uninteligible. Also, the music played while the heist is being completed is a funky, hip victory song. Great background party music.

For the Circus Animals!.......2007-04-13

i don't want to write an over analyzed review of this soundtrack But what i do want to say is if you're looking to hear the same great music that you heard in the movie& music that made you look this CD up in the first place...you've got it here! you will be able to draw visuals of the movie while listening to it. from Brad Pitt's bar lounge scene to the ending scene in front of the fountain in Vegas...don't over analyze this CD...it's fun and contains all the great tunes from the movie!!! if you're a fan of the Ocean's movies...but this CD!!!

I would have preferred not to have the dialogue mash into the tracks. It's typical of Soderbergh soundtracks, and I don't mind the dialogue being there, I'd just prefer it on its own tracj (like, say, the Snatch soundtrack).

A gem among many.......2007-08-07

A made a transition in my taste in music about four years ago. I was just about finished with high school and all i tended to listen to was hip hop/rap and country. Basically two opposite ends of the spectrums I know. The I noticed i started to lean towards a lot of pop punk/screamo/emo/rock (who the hell cares what the genre is here, its all good music) songs. This was the second cd I bought that fit a different type of genre I wasn't very used to. It was a purchase im glad i made. This cd is one of very few you can put in and just let it play through front to back and enjoy every bit of musical talent this group has. The vocals, violin, and catchy songs will mezmerize you. I was able to relate personally to many of the songs and Im sure most people will say the same. Personal favorites are Breathing, Only One, Believe, and Back Home. But they are all good.

As for the rest of yellocard's cds, i have sampled all of them, and there are a few diamonds in the rough, but none of the albums come within miles of this effort. Ocean Avenue is gem in their collection of efforts.

Okay, I suppose..........2007-03-23

I don't know, this CD just didn't really do it for me. The chord progressions for many of the songs aren't that great. That's not the case for "Way Away", "Ocean Avenue", "Only One", "One Year, Six Months" and a few other very listenable songs on this album. But it's not really worth it to buy the whole album, in my opinion. I guess I could see this being more appealing to some other people, you know, the scream-my-heart-out kind, who don't really need music, they just need a way to vent their anger. Of course, as the afore mentioned songs will prove, there IS some real music on this album. Just not as much as I think Yellowcard is capable of.

A pop rock band with a violin? I'm sorry, I just don't get it. It's not like the band sucks, they're good musicians if you're into that poppy sound, but the violin just confuses me. There's a time and place for violin in rock music, with an ensemble arrangement for example, but not solo. IMHO.

They finally got somewhere.......2006-07-15

Ocean Avenue did wonders for YC. They finally got onto the radio after about 7 years of working their @$$es off. And this album does not dissapoint. It has everything a good band needs to make it big. And compared to their first albums, "Midget Tossing", and "Where We Stand", this album is proof that any band can go from struggling to famous if they try.

Dan Gibson consistently mastered, if not invented the art of nature recordings. This is not a music CD. Mr. Gibson used a very sensitive directional microphone and sat still like a guru while nature spoke. Not so easy--think about how frequently planes fly over our heads. Yet, this is not another noisy, monotonous hissing ocean recording either. Throughout, it is consistently relaxing as well as rich with almost visual detail. It is not distracting for massage, meditation, relaxation, sleeping, etc. unless it is played too loudly. However, turn up the volume while hanging out at home and it can transform your landlocked condo into a beachfront bungalow.

Annoying rocks.......2007-01-17

The sound of the surf is what I was looking for but the added trickle of the water movement amound the tide pools is not restful in fact they are down right annoying.

PURE OCEAN; use this with Deep Breathing! Therapy for the Soul.......2006-12-11

This Dan Gibson CD is one I use to teach deep, diaphragmatic breathing...the tempo is good if you use one breath in, with one wave, and one breath out, with the second wave. This is very helpful for relaxation and for breathing practice for Anxiety disorders. There are no annoying "extra noises" like seagulls, foghorns, boat motors, or otherwise extraneous distractions. What you get is Pure Ocean Waves...something quite difficult to find in the "ocean" of SFX and "relaxation CD's" out there. Slightly over an hour long, you can use this for one great calming break. No music in this one either, JUST the waves resounding a crash, trickle, smooth movement. If you can't relax with this one, we should talk!!

This was Clapton's comeback record after a long bout with heroin addiction. Up through 1970 or so, he had been a restless musical seeker, opening rock up with his guitar experimentation, trying to get to the bottom of the blues. There is none of this on 461. He seems relieved just to be alive. It's a low-key affair, and that suits him. Some of his best songs are here, as well as his cover of Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff." TANNED, RESTED, AND READY, CLAPTON COMES BACK MELLOW, BUT STRONG, WITH 461 OCEAN BOULEVARD !.......2007-07-03

Eric Clapton recorded 461 Ocean Boulevard (1974) after kicking his heroin habit, and during the time he was living at, you guessed it, 461 Ocean Boulevard in Miami, Florida (the house is pictured on the album cover). This is a strong Eric Clapton album, even though it's nothing like a Cream or a Derek and The Dominos album. His time in Florida definitely affected his outlook on life, and that's not a bad thing. The album really rocks in some places, like Motherless Children and Mainline Florida, but the rock is fun and laid back, not foreboding or contentious. There is some blues on the album, as he covers Elmore James' I Can't Hold Out, and Robert Johnson's Steady Rollin' Man, but again, these songs have an easy-going feel to them, too, and they are very good. The huge reggae hit, Bob Marley's I Shot The Sherriff, put Clapton's solo career on track, and of course, sounds great. Clapton plays his dobro on Cowboy's Please Be With Me (his late friend, Duane Allman, played dobro on the original). Let It Grow has a layered acoustic/electric guitar sound, a steady, leisurely beat, and is classic Clapton. Recording artist/actress Yvonne Elliman sings backing vocals on the album, and trades lead vocals with Eric on the funky Get Ready. 461 Ocean Boulevard is a very good, laid back album, with some solid guitar work blended in with the mellow atmosphere and carefree rocking beat of most of the songs. It's also one of Eric Clapton's best solo albums.

The comeback. Claptons passion for the blues is doing the talking here, but still slowhand makes the best album of his career. He had replaced his heroin addiction with an alcohol fixation, which made him very laid back, but it all works here very well.

Laid Back EC, Living and Loving in South Florida.......2006-07-26

I have to confess that, while I love Clapton, his albums are often a hit-and-miss affair. And I can't say I am a fan of the numerous recent blues tribute albums he has put out lately. For me I enjoy his work with Cream, his guest work, his first few albums, the one he recorded with The Band, a few older live albums, and bits of the Phil Collins-produced record in the early 80s. After that it's a fall-off, but I am thankful for all the great music he has turned out over the years.

I have been listening to 461 a lot lately. It holds up exceedingly well. The groove is laid-back, with solid musicianship and expert song selection. It makes for great road music, especially "Willie and the Hand Jive," "I Shot the Sheriff," and the classic closer, "Mainline Florida."

The ballads are beautiful, too. There is not a weak track on the album. There is a consistent tone, an aversion to excess and a concentration on the note and harmonic "fit" that makes this album an overall winner in EC's catalog. As someone who used to party in EC's old house at 461 Ocean Boulevard in Golden Beach in the early 80s, let me say -- you did it (and us) proud.

32 years ago I was so stoked that Clapton was finally coming out with a new album, I walked five miles to Deorsey's Records in Lewiston, Maine the day that it was released to buy this much anticipated record. The still near virgin vinyl remains in my LP collection and has only been played once. Once was enough. Heroin robbed a true master of his creativeness, inspiration and technical ability. Sad.

NOT A BAD ALBUM BY ANY MEANS, BUT A BIT 'PATCHY'.......2006-06-16

I GENERALLY PREFER EC WHEN HE DOES HIS 'LAID BACK' COUNTRY ROCK/COUNTRY BLUES STUFF AND THERE ARE A FEW TRACKS THAT FALL INTO THIS CATEGORY. I'M NOT A REAL BLUES FAN BUT I LIKE THE WAY EC (AND MANY OF HIS CONTEMPORARIES) PRESENT BLUES MUSIC IN A WAY THAT MAKES IT MORE ACCESSIBLE TO A WIDER AUDIENCE (INCLUDING MYSELF). THERE IS SOME FINE GUITAR PLAYING ON THIS ALBUM AND EC IS IN FINE FORM VOCALLY (ALTHOUGH, PERHAPS, NOT AT HIS BEST). I BELIEVE SOME OF THE GUITAR PLAYING WAS SHARED BY GEORGE TERRY, SO HE DESERVES SOME CREDIT ALSO.

HERE ARE A FEW COMMENTS ABOUT INDIVIDUAL TRACKS (* DENOTES A FAVOURITE)(SONGWRITERS IN BRACKETS):

MOTHERLESS CHILDREN (Trad. arr. Eric Clapton/Carl Radle) - A real 'rocker'. Great drumming and slide guitar. Vocals a bit indistinct (perhaps, slightly over-produced).

GIVE ME STRENGTH* (Eric Clapton) - Slow tempo song with some really mellow dobro playing (incl. 40 second solo intro.). EC's vocals are restrained but not without some emotion (as befitting this type of song). Organ accompaniment gives a gospel feel to the sound.

WILLY AND THE HAND JIVE* (Johnny Otis) - Instrumentally unexceptional but great 'shuffling' rhythm and really 'laid back' vocals.

GET READY (Eric Clapton/Yvonne Elliman) - Features EC and Yvonne Elliman sharing vocals. OK, but a bit monotonous.

I SHOT THE SHERIFF (Bob Marley) - I'm not that keen on reggae music (to me, it has a rhythm that 'plods' rather than 'rocks'). Instrumentally, nothing 'to write home about'. However, its a pretty good track - decent song, tight harmony vocals delivered by Yvonne Elliman & co. EC does a good job with a 'pseudo-jamaican' inflection in his voice.

I CAN'T HOLD OUT* (Elmore James arr. Eric Clapton)) - A jazz/blues sound. Features some more amazing slide guitar playing.

PLEASE BE WITH ME (Charles Scott Boyer) - A lilting ditty with a 'folksy' sound. Features acoustic and electric guitar. Pleasant, but a bit too 'sugary' for me.

LET IT GROW (Eric Clapton) - Ordinary song, vocally and instrumentally unexceptional, tedious and 'drones' on a bit.

STEADY ROLLIN' MAN* (Robert Johnson arr. Eric Clapton) - Great percussion and keyboards. Features some nice sharp guitar licks.

MAINLINE FLORIDA (George Terry) - Ordinary song. EC's vocals are drowned by the backing vocals and instruments. Pretty awful really.

AN ALBUM WORTH HAVING FOR SOME EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD 'BLUESY' GUITAR PLAYING AND, ON MOST TRACKS, GOOD VOCALS. NOT BAD AT ALL - BUT OVER RATED. I HAVE THE REMASTERED VERSION OF THIS ALBUM AND OTHER REVIEWERS HAVE COMMENTED ON THE QUESTIONABLE REMASTERING QUALITY - I TEND TO AGREE WITH THEM.

I absolutely love this CD. I listen to it every night when going to bed. It completely knocks me out. My husband who dislikes listening to music as we sleep LOVES this CD. Recently I went away on a 2 week trip and took the CD with me. He missed listening to the nightly sound of the ocean, this says alot! I highly recommend it.

Remember, You have to like the sound of the ocean to like this.

La Caution does the song "The A La Menthe" that is missing on the soundtrack CD. iTunes carries it for 99 cents. That's where I got it.

I read other reviews in search of the best song of the movie but not on the soundtrack and I did some searching and found the CD but it's not on Amazon anymore although the page is still up, the name of the CD is "Peines De Maures / Arc-En-Ciel Pour Daltoniens [IMPORT]"by La Caution. You can probably buy it on ebay or your local underground music store.

The nightfox laser dance song without question is a sample/remix/remake/ BAM from a part of the score from the 1979 Italian movie, The Concorde Affair. Just saw it on 3-8-07 and saw Ocean 12 like 2 weeks prior.

No doubt it is the same thing only redone.
