This is ultra-cool-smoothe-mellow stuff. Bebe strums nylon and plays bossanova stylie, singing in English, Portuguese and Japanese. Put it on to chill out, to relax, to set a Latinojapanese mood (God only know why you want that mood, but it's finally available). Put it on to impress. But don't forget to point out the mutlilingual murmurings of the singer, 'cause you wouldn't know it from a casual listen. This album leans more toward Latin than Japanese, but if you're into either, give her a try. Support international blends.

One of the best Nu-Jazz / Nu-Bossa CDs.......2006-05-11

This is a very well crafted session of what is now known as Nu-Jazz or Nu-Bossa; and that is, many recent/new artists (and some mature ones)that pay tribute to these Bossa Nova gems adding up-to-date arrangements and electronic enhancements without losing the harmonic beauty of Bossa Nova.
And this CD does exactly that, spicing it up a bit with Jazzy arrangements since amazing guitarist/singer Celso Fonseca is the producer here.
Another feature that makes this CD so interesting is the compilation in one CD of many offsprings from geniuses from the original Bossa Nova era like:
1) Clara Moreno (daughter of singer Joyce and drummer Tutti Moreno)
2) Moreno Veloso (son of great Caetano Veloso)
3) Bena Lobo (son of Edu Lobo)
4) from BossaCucaNova: Marcio Menescal (son of monster guitarist Roberto Menescal)
5) Mariana de Moraes (granddaughter of poet Vinicius de Moraes)
6) Ana Martins (also daughter of singer/guitarist Joyce)
7) Kay Lyra (daughter of Carlitos Lyra)
and
8) Daniel Jobim (grandson of the one and only Antonio Carlos Jobim)
Along these new and upcoming great musicians, we also have other great musicians/singers like
9) Paula Morelenbaum (perhaps one of the most beautiful Brazilian female voices out there)

11) Celso Fonseca on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, programming, singing, arranging and producing.

Overall is a super enjoyable CD if you love Bossa Nova and appreciate new enhancements that respect the original harmony.
