Wild Birds Indeed .......2007-05-13

This is an excellent disc for the casual Peter Murphy fan. It is a bang for the buck CD from an often overlooked eclectic artist. There are some true masterpieces here mixed in with a few clams in the middle of the disc. Tracks 1-3 and 9-16 are all excellent. "Cuts you up" may be the only true "hit" on the disc but there is some really remarkable material that rock fans of all genres can appreciate. One need not be familiar with his work in his previous band Bauhaus to enjoy this music as the music on this best of is quite varied. Very little of this disc would be classified as Goth.

some hits, some of Peter's fave's.......2004-12-06

As far as greatest hits albums, this one delivers just because Peter's hits are just masterful. If I was going to be nitpicky, I'd complain that this compilation does not capture all of his best work, but the collection clearly captures some of Peter's own favorites -- such as 'Deep Ocean Vast Sea', 'Dragnet Drag' and 'Jemal'. While all good songs, they probably mean more to Peter than some of his most devout fans. I would have liked to have seen 'Marlene Dietrich's Favorite Poem', 'Blind Sublime', or 'Crystal Wrists' myself.

But again, this is a really good greatest hits album, and well worth the money for either collector or newly minted fan.

Don't get me wrong!.......2003-12-13

Some supposed fans did not buy the album for sure as they did not see "All night long" song on the album?? It is on mine (track 11) and was the major reason why I have bought it. This song is really awsome with french speaking in it (done like an extract of Zelda game). Also, there is not 5 but 4 songs from "Cascade" album.

His major songs are on there "Cuts you up", "Indigo eyes",
"Subway", "Roll call" and a new "Jemal" version. Unfortunately for me,"Marlene Dietrich's favorite poem" is missing.

All his artistic talents on one album.

A great voice.......2003-10-16

Since I hear for the first time "All night long", in a brazilian radio, in the 80's, I've never been the same to hear music. He surprises anyone at every time, in every song, with his powerful voice, and his gothic atmosphere. Yes, atmospheric, this is the best definition to a singer that creates with real feeling, making something that is really deep, and at the same time, cool. It's impossible to hear "Subway" and don't hear it again and again...passing the tracks, "I'll Fall With You Knife" is there, beatiful...and so many other songs, all beatiful. So,I think that "Wild Birds" is a good choice.

A Superior Mix of Great Songs!.......2002-06-13

This album might be a redundant buy for those of you who have followed Peter Murphy since Bauhaus and Dali's Car days... although it does have a nice mix of well-known Murphy favorites that would be great for a road trip without having to lug all of the albums along with you.

I find myself suggesting this ablum as a first buy for my friends who are just getting into Peter's work... after this one I tend to draw them in further with "Deep" or "Dust".

After a point, it's very easy to become completely absorbed by Peter's music, and this album touches on many of his different musical ventures with fairness to many years of very fine work.

Re-Release BTC's studio albums.......2004-10-27

This album is as close as one can come to finding a BTC cd this century. This release is a compilation of some of their best tracks both live and studio. If you've never experienced the BTC live and up-close, you may not appreciate this album to the fullest extent because to love them is to see them live, and alas, they are no more as they broke up a few years back. But, ahhh, back in the day, they were the show to see and be seen at. P.s. - if the powers that be can find it in their heart to re-release the "Shyfolk" album it would be greatly appreciated.

Sadly, the only BTC stuff available on CD.......2003-10-10

As far as I know, most of their other stuff is out-of-print or never got released on CD in the first plan which is a grave injustice to Toronto's #1 party band of the late 1980s/early 1990s. Their music is catchy, up beat, fun and smart without taking itself too serious. A great "feel good" collection of songs to be sure. Kate Fenner and Chris Brown have gone on to release some decent (albeit "mature") solo stuff if you're really into this one. Later!

Shut up. He is. This dude has more soul in his dandruff than you will ever have in your whole body, so just shut up. Al Green, shut up. James Brown, shut the hell up. Put that nasty funk back in your trousers and sit your ass down, because it's the BOLTON. And it's ON. Michael Bolton- The name alone is enough to send any American Woman over 40 into aural ecstasy.
His voice is like molten lava being poured over a coyote with rabies. And "Hits 1985-1995: Best of the Best Gold" is, quite simply, a classic.
If I could be the filling inside a Michael Bolton/David Hasslehoff sandwich, you can bet I'd say "YES! YES! TIME, LOVE AND TENDERNESS!"
I can only pray that Bolton will once again grace the world with his gorgeous, permed mullet. It is only befitting this renaissance man, part singer, part UN ambassador. Best of luck, Mike.

Bound For Classic Bolton.......2004-01-24

It is just so unbelieveable to find out that when it really comes to great music, we often do realize that we forget about somebody and their voice, because of what comes next in the industry, and thensome. That does come with the case of Michael Bolton. Throughout the last half of the 80's, and the early to late 90's, he proved himself as one of the most dynamic vocalists of our generation. His voice is truly a treasure that has to be accepted for. Still, when it does come to Greatest Hits collections, they always seem to be a miss from one another. That definitely makes it hard to tell for which is the exact one to buy and which one not to buy. As that case for Michael Bolton, he may not get the best buy, from other collections of hits.

Hits 1985-1995: Best Of The Best Gold, is a collection of Michael Bolton's biggest tunes from the era that made him a legend. The songs are truly matched by his elegant voice and material that is just priceless. Although there are so many great songs to the mix, there is a downside to the process. While, there are great songs like Soul Provider, Time, Love And Tenderness, and How Am I Suppose To Live Without You, there is a drawback to the mix. Most of the songs are similar to the U.S. record, Greatest Hits 1985-1995, and the mix, whixh might be considered as a rejection from people who already have that collection. The only song that wasn't on that collection, Lean On Me, is on this one. The other factor is that so many songs were overlooked on this collection of hits that should've been added, including Love Is A Wonderful Thing, That's What Love Is All About, Once In A Lifetime, and so many more great ballads to the addition of this one as well.

Although Michael Bolton is a marvelous vocalis, they haven't perfected the right kind of Greatest Hits collection for him yet. Hopefully, that will happen soon on both sides of the Atlantic. Otherwise, you'll just have to make your own from those burned ones soon.
