Album Description

Real Life has been an important name in the synthpop scene since the early 80's. The Australian band started their successful career with the popular album "Heartland" which featured instant hits like "Send Me an Angel" and "Catch Me I'm Falling". Those songs still appear on many 80's hits collections today. The band again hit dance floor popularity with the song "God Tonight" and as the 1990's progressed, Real Life found themselves moving into the underground along with most of the world's synthpop acts. The band released new music in the independent market, finding a new audience with their album "Happy" in the mid 90's. Now, the Australian synthpop heros are back again with a modern electronic pop sound that's as accessible as anything they released in the past, while remaining on the cutting edge of the synthpop / industrial scene.

This special American edition of the "Imperfection" features a bonus disc with extra remixes for fans and DJ's.

This CD is awesome! I loved every track and the bonus CD full of remixes was the icing on the cake. I knew Real Life from "Send Me An Angel" back in the 80's but I had not followed their more recent work. With how good this CD is I will definitely have to look into more of their recent work. Great lyrics, great sound and a beat that just keeps moving forward. I recommend this to all synthpop fans.

Im glad theyre back with a great cd.This one is more elaborated than the last one "Happy".Im crazy about synth music and better if its into electronic sounds and I think that one fill my needs.I hope that they keep going making music for us.

the lifetime album/cd wasnt released until 1990, not 1998.
i have been a fan since the first release of Heartland, i have partied with the band in Chicago in 1998 on the "Happy" tour.
I keep in contact with the lead singer David Sterry which is the last remaining remember of the original Real life, if you can find the album "down comes the hammer" its very very good and shows the true talent, as for imperfection.........just like the title says, imperfection was the correct choice, it basically sounds like a HAPPY 2 release. come on dave get back to the REAL music!!!!!!!

Welcome Real Life To..........2004-06-16

...The 21st Century. Previously I'd only heard two other Real Life albums (Best Of and Lifetime). Lifetime was put out in 1998 but the sound was rooted in the band's 80s sound. Witht his album they have arrived in the 21st cenrutry and while they sound like the same band they also have a "new" sound that is faithful to their roots and contemporary. The songs are very sold sounds that compare to other synthpop bands of today and the bonus disc or remixes is very club friendly and catchy. If you're a fan of synthpop, Real Life or club music this album is for you.

Bring it on!.......2004-04-10

After recently obtaining Happy and subsequently falling in absolute LOVE with it, I could not wait for this newest release. I'm happy to say it does not disappoint. Granted, I don't like it quite as much as Happy, but I really didn't think there was any way Happy could be topped. Imperfection may not be perfect, but it's pretty dang close. The first three tracks are irresistable dance numbers that really make you move. The rest of the album, however, pretty much sticks to a midtempo formula, which isn't necessarily bad, but leaves you wanting maybe one or two more danceable tracks. The only track I dislike is "Kamikaze." It sounds a little too much like it's title. It's decent - just not great. All the others, though, are wonderful, my favorite being the single, "Oblivion." One of the things I like most about Real Life is their ability to write ultra-catchy songs that are easy to sing along to after only a couple listens. At first I wished that the songs had a darker tone like that on Happy. But after a few listenings (and reading some of the lyrics), I realized that the darkness is still there - it's just a bit more subtle. Many of the songs have almost a sarcastic quality, "Celebrate" showcasing this brilliantly ("half the world is suicidal and everybody is in denial / celebrate / celebrate"). Pick up Imperfection and Happy as soon as possible. They are not to be missed.

Something old, something new and something blue!.......2006-01-08

Back in the 50s-60's, Shuman and Doc Pomus were successful songwriters along with their Brill Building colleages. There is little to search out from these 2 talents in the way of pop music still in print. But, this album contains the most recent work of Shuman. A small together band, led by keyboardist Rod Argent [from the old Rock band Argent?] leads the way. Suman,s lyrics are quite poetic paeans to lost love and his singing is pleasant a la Cat Steven's sound of years gone by. Both Shuman and Pomus are gone so this has historical value.
