A tie with IL RE DEL NIENTE for best Grignani album?.......2005-12-17

I purchased Gianluca's latest effort this summer (IL RE DEL NIENTE [THE KING OF NOTHING], 2005) and instantly became a fan. I then bought all previous CD releases, and I like all of them. He writes his own songs and music and here, on UGUALI E DIVERSI (EQUAL YET DIFFERENT), the effort shines particularly brightly. From the very amusing "Lady Miami" (of the "wrapped around your little finger" subgenre), to the lilting title song, to a personal favorite, "Regina delle farfalle" ("Queen of the Butterflies"), GG will ROK you, babies! (And he got the hair, don't he!) Though I understand the Italian lyrics, I'm don't know that one must comprehend what GG sings to enjoy his music. His gravelly voice and at times wall-of-sound guitars should be broadly appealing to fans of Rock, male and female. His melodies are often lovely (an all-time favorite is "Falco a meta'" on debut album DESTINAZIONE PARADISO). GG generally gets progressively better. As I've mentioned elsewhere, his voice is clear enough that students of the Italian language would benefit from listening to the Milanese Rock star. If you have some aversion to compilation albums (as some do), then skip the excellent collection SUCCO DI VITA and pick up UGUALI E DIVERSI, or IL RE DEL NIENTE, to start. Take a risk and purchase one of his CDs. "Nasce la mia canzone, davanti alla televisione, in questo pomeriggio di domenica... " O, la passione that you've awakened in me! You're so cruel! You've made me your schiavo! Lasciami stare! Ooooooooooo! Oh... oh... oooh... GEEEEEAAN-LOOO-KAA!

If it wasn't for my sister who bought this cd in Italy I don't think I would have known about this cd. It is so great like his other album. Gianluca is a very talented songwriter and his voice is incredible..I could listen to this cd over and over again..I'm so happy I found it on Amazon.com..they always have the great stuff...now I can't wait to have my own copy. Buenisimo! Ciao

When I first heard Gianluca Grigniani's music, I was so moved beyond words... One listen and your soul & heart will want to keep playing it over and over again... Gianluca Grigniani is not from this planet!
