From the All Music Guide:
This is a combination rerelease of Pecker Power and Instant Rasta, two albums recorded by Japanese percussionist Pecker in conjunction with Jamaican musicians. It's an interesting effort, combining a certain Jamaican rawness with a sophisticated Japanese surface, and it certainly comes equipped with the reggae muscle to kick it along Sly & Robbie on the one hand, and the Wailers band on the other, and both Channel One and Tuff Gong studios (if only they'd managed Federal as well, but that might have meant the Dragonaires as a backing band). I'm not sure exactly how much of Pecker's work is really being heard on this album, but that really isn't the point the point is more that it's a good reggae and dub set. ROIR is the home of some killer reggae, and this album is no exception to Neil Cooper's rule. Steven McDonald

Album Description
The current reigning big chief of tribal house and caveman congas, producer Tony Thomas adds a mysterious injection of primal funk and drive that reverberates to the heart of the dancefloor!Presently one of the most in-demand producers and remixers on the underground dance music circuit, Tony's music cuts across musical boundaries - house, techno, progressive - and you're very likely to find at least one of his tracks deeply rooted in the box of any self respecting DJ.
His list of fans runs longer than a roll of toilet paper, including the luminary likes of Pete Tong, Carl Cox, Slam and Darren Emerson among them. With over one hundred and fifty productions he is the hardest working man in house, appearing on labels such as End Recordings, Tango, Honchos, Serious, Hooj, Subliminal, Loaded, Jamayka and of course Soma.
His debut album, 21st Century Dub, is a trip to the center of the dancefloor. His unique style of pulsating afro enchantment is punctuated with seriously dubbed out effects, the thick, potent mix of rhythms are embedded with some spooked out bongo business. Future jungle funk indeed!
