Italian Sophistication.......2001-11-22

For those of you looking for something musically different yet sophisticated, you've come to the right place. Concato's music is uniquely European, and this LP is a great sampler of his best work yet. "Ballando con Chet Baker" features a mix of part sentimental ballad, part bossa nova, part exciting "James Bond" soundtrack, with a touch of nightclub style Jazz- featuring some great horn riffs inspired by Jazz trumpeter, Chet Baker. Although an added dimension, it is not necessary to understand the Italian lyrics to appreciate this album. Concato's soft voice and multi-layered musical arrangements are quality in itself...there are no American artists to compare! Give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

When I first heard this CD in a lovely bookstore in San Francisco, I thought for sure it must be a Latin artist, but it turned out to be the latest album from Concato. The store was having a hard time keeping it in stock because once a person has heard this rich sound you just have to have it in your collection! It is a soulful rendering of many beautiful sounds blended with wonderful lyrics. There is a great feel of romance and lightheartedness all at once...some songs will move you to tears and others will have you grinning, like Tinti. Overall, there is a sense that one is listening to a Bossa Nova album and that adds to the depth of the music. I played this CD as I drove down the coast of northern CA and it moved me beyond words. I hope that you too will enjoy Cancato and this splendid CD as much as I do! It certainly will leave you touched in your soul!
