Buy it, buy it, buy it.......2007-05-01

Chrysalide is my favourite of Patrick Fiori's albums. I stumbled upon his voice in the _Notre Dame de Paris_ soundtrack (excellent as well, btw) that I picked up from my brother's college radio station clearance bin for arround $5. I stopped stock still when I heard Fiori's voice. WHO is that?

I agree with everyone who says that this album is far better than _Prends Moi_. Artistically, _Chrysalide_ is light years ahead of the earlier one and really allows Fiori's voice to shine. The crystalline quality of his tenor combined with the heart... it's rare to find this quality of popular music. I'm thrilled his career is doing so well.

A hero from another century.......2006-02-03

This is Patrick's first album that I listened to. I am glad that I heard this one before "Prends-moi". If "Prends-moi" were my first experience with Patrick Fiori, I would never have given him another chance. As far as essential Patrick Fiori repertoire goes, "Chrysalide" is the official first album. This is when we see the real Patrick. The first album is to commercial and superficial. His beautiful voice gets lost in all the synethetic sound effects. On "Chrysalide" he really shows his true self for the first time. It's Patrick expressing Patrick. Not Patrick expressing what his producers want him to express. In "Chrysalide" he plunges into philosophy, religion, patriotism. It's not just about romantic love. His tone is a perfect blend of melancholy and optimism. His voice appeals to young girls on a very archetypical level. This is what Prince Charming sounds like. This is the romantic hero that 7-year old girls dream of.

La Belle Musique!.......2004-03-03

This is a wonderful CD-- Patrick Fiori has an amazing voice. He is incredibly good with putting emotion and expression into his singing along with being able to actually sing.
You don't really need to understand French to enjoy this music, but I suppose it helps. I haven't been taking it in school for too long, so I obviously did not understand everything, but I still loved it!

This album is also great as well as "Prends-moi" and "Patrick Fiori.", the last one. "Terra Umana" shows the great power of his voice that can be romantic, sad, strong and mild at the same time.
And in general this album shows his vocal capacity. He takes such notes!!! If you listened to "Etre la" (the second song), you would understand what I mean. All songs are really beautiful. They are the mirror of his soul. Definitely.
I encourage you to but it weither you know French or not!!

Wonderful CD.......2003-03-19

I had no idea who Patrick Fiori was until I stumbled upon this CD 3 years ago in Paris. After listening to the first 3 tracks I bought it without any further hesitation. He has a smooth clear high voice which is easy on the ear. The music, being sung in French is too marvellous for words. I don't understand a word, but it's great!! Buy it, you won't regret it!

Singer/Songwriter Jean-jacques Goldman is Once Again on Board and Composed Five Songs for the Album, Including the Single "Tout Les Peines". He also Sings with Fiori and Christine Ricol on "4 Mots Sur Un Piano". Fiori's Partner Julie Zenatti Contributed Three Titles and Patrice Guirao Contributes the Very Romantic "a Genoux" and J. More Rock - still a breath takingly beautiful voice.......2007-05-01

First, let me say that "Je ne serai jamais" makes the album worth every penny. A hauntingly beautiful waltz and simple love song, "Je ne serai jamais" showcases Fiori's voice perfectly. That said, not all the songs on here do. Some of the more pop-rock numbers are a little cheezey and shouty -- Yoenai starts as a cool, accoustic number and then veers frustratingly into electronic over production -- but they're a change of pace and the album on the whole is one of the Fiori's best.

If you're just stumbling upon Patrick Fiori, you're in for a treat. He has one of the most beautiful voices on the planet -- ever. Just as importantly, he's a storyteller. There's character in how and what he sings. Chrysalide is probably still my favourite album, but should an accoustic version of this ever come out....

Growing in creativity.......2006-12-28

I have always enjoyed Mr. Fiori's vocal talents, and I continue to enjoy his artistry with this album, because we are able to here a range of musical styles, from the power rock and rock ballads for which Mr. Fiori is known, to the more playful side of tunes such as "Boite aux Lettres." It is a marked change from his "Chrysalide" album because it offers music that is fun and others that are inspiring and thought provoking.

Beautiful music - awful arrangement.......2006-04-05

This album was ruined by the horrible arrangement. You get the same beautiful music, the same beautiful lyrics, the same beautiful voice that one has grown to expect from Patrick Fiori. But all that beauty is drowned in horrible accompaniment. Screeching electric guitars and hissing synthesizers produce that generic background that overshadows Patrick. I really miss the soft piano and accoustic guitars of his second and third albums. That type of minimalistic accompaniment just enhances Patrick's voice. But on this album he sounds like he's trying to outscream the electric guitars. Producers, hello! This is not a competition between Man and Synthesizer. Let Patrick shine. Let him do what he does best.

In the world of cynicism and instant gratifications, it is truly refreshing to come across an artist who believes in patriotism and old-fashioned chivalry. His songs automatically transport the listener into the world of Southern France. His music reminds me of Jean Giono's fiction. (Jean Giono is a French writer of the late 19th century). He promotes the same values and attitudes as Patrick Fiori.

Very entertaining CD!! Fiori has a beautiful voice........2003-10-20

Like most people I learned of Patrick Fiori from the Notre-Dame de Paris musical. Patrick's self-titled disc is well executed, beautifully sung, and a fun listen. Marseille, Debout, Bleu et Vert and Pardonne-Moi are all stand outs that will make the album worth buying. My only criticism of the album is the song selection. Marseille, Mon Pays and Je Sais Ou Aller are a little redundant since they all have the same "longing for home" theme. And furthermore I'd like to see some politics or something a little more edgy interjected to avoid a French Michael Bolton album. But having said that, each song on its own is fantastic so I kept my score at 5 stars; a great piece of French Pop music.

These words are words of Patrick Fiori. And I can say it's true, because in this album he decided not to show his vocal advantages with all power that he has. He sings more like an artist than a singer. Please, don't get me wrong: it doesn't mean than you won't hear how beautiful his voice is. He just decided to make this album from another point of view. That's why the title of this album is "Patrick Fiori."
Songs: "Sans bruit" and "Si tu revenais" are really dramatically, "Miraval" is very unusual, "Marselle" & "Je sais ou aller" ("I know where to go") are about his origin and his home, etc..
It's a pleasure to listen to this album!!!!! I'm sure you won't have any regrets (at least I don't have it :))

Beautiful and sweet voice.......2002-12-14

This album will make you feel at peace with the world, if you like songs about love and companionship that actually have something to say about those topics. Some of them are slow, like "Sans bruit" (Noiselessly) and "Si tu revenais" (If you'd come back) -really dramatic- while others are more lively, like "Ligne numero 13" (Line number 13) -a critique of the coldness of the world-. The last one, "Miraval", is like 15 minutes long, because it has ambient sounds and brief echoes of his songs. If you've heard Julie Zenatti's songs you'll guess which one she contributed with in this album. He sounds so much like her in that one. Another album of his, "Chrysalide", is very well made also.

Fiori's weakest album.......2006-06-24

The nauseating title ("Take me") apart, this is the weakest album from Patrick Fiori. It does not reflect his potential and his creativity. All songs sound the same. There is too much heavy synthetic noise in the background. You can hardly hear his voice. The melodies are not captivating at all. In fact, there is not much going on in terms of melodies. It's all one-dimensional generic pop. I know that Patrick is capable of so much more.

Patrick Fiori is the wonderful singer!!!! Even if you don't really understand songs' words (since it's French), it doesn't matter. This language sounds very beautiful and your soul will understand everything! Patrick has a GREAT voice!!! And he writes a beautiful music also (for example, "Vivre en toi").
In "Notre Dame de Paris" he was brilliant! And here he is on the top too!!!
Believe me, this disk is worth to be heard.

Fiori is absolutely amazing. If his outstanding performance in Notre Dame de Paris isn't enough to get you to buy this album, notthing will. This CD is brilliant. His voice is soothing and entrancing. I encourage everyone to purchase this album whether or not you know him from Notre Dame. Excellent music!
