The best singing bowl CD.......2007-05-22
This one is the best tibetan singing bowl CD I have. If you make your own contribution by relaxation, It takes you into the theta brain state easily.
Very good but not the best.......2007-04-10
In my humble opinion, the best Tibetan Bells or bowls cd I have heard is Benjamin Iobst's "7 Metals". It is easier to listen to.
Although I like Becher's offering - don't get me wrong, I do own it and play it - I just think that Iobst's is more listenable and has a better meditative quality. Sometimes Becher's sound patterns seem redundant and almost annoying.
I also highly recommend the crystal bowl offerings of the "Crystal Voices". These have an even higher vibration, that is a more spiritual/mental effect on me, but they too can be annoying if you are not in the mood for them.
For Tibetan Bowls, I have heard about 8 different cd's and I consider Iobst's the best. But Becher's isn't bad.
Amazing grace.......2007-01-25
Not only beautiful but effective, I find listening to this cd very helpful to meditation. Last evening I felt the bowls were ringing me.
Otherworldly.......2006-05-13
I use this CD and his other release for meditation. This artist in a different level than the rest tibetan bowl players. This CD creates a deep level theta trance. The ironic part is that it holds you there throughout the CD.
One with my spirit.......2005-05-27
The sounds from this CD are amazing for meditation or massage. The sounds vibrate deeply within me, slowing my heartbeat, and floating my spirit on waves of bliss. At times the sound is almost electric, deep and thrumming, causing my nerves to resonate. This is my favorite CD for massage. I can leave my body in the capable hands of my massuese, and let my spirit travel to another level.

Customer Reviews:
Singing Bowels?.......2002-08-21
What a great typo THAT was ... thank you, other Mr. Kramer.
This is an excellent CD. The sound quality is superb, and Xumantra allows the natural harmonics and resonances of each bowl to shine through, both individually and in combination with other bowls. The flow of the pieces is superb, and the music created is truly -- and I know this word is utterly overused, particularly in these types of recordings -- transcendant.
If you want the best in singing bowels, I highly suggest a homemade bean burrito -- none of that frozen stuff. And use a little pork fat, while you're at it.
If you want the best in singing bowls, pick up this CD. For meditation, for relaxation/sleepytime, and for listening to the sublime and subtle resonances of these simple-seeming instruments, give a listen to Xumantra.
NONLYRICAL!!.......2002-06-05
I was hoping for something alittle more lyrical....little use of the higher octave bowls here....the ones that produce the most pleasant sounds. This CD will be excellent for meditation, however, since the reverberations of the bowls literally "penetrate" the body and, therefore, carry you to a different plane of consciousness. But to use as "quiet backround" in the home this CD isn't "pleasant" enough...I had hoped to use it for that purpose too.
Xumantra singing bowls.......2001-08-05
For people who like singing bowls it is a good CD though a bit slow.
Best of the meditative "bell"s.......2000-05-07
What makes this outstanding is the way it is recorded...many of this type of recordings become very soft and then abruptly become loud and "blow your trance" or if your using this for sleep music wake you up in a jarring manner...this Cd is as good if not better than any of the singing bowels and this and Karma Moffet are the two best by light years....

Product Description
Recorded live at the Land of the Medicine Buddha Monastery in 1995, this is an international classic in the field of meditation music. The exquisite tones and harmonics of Moffett's carefully chosen antique Tibetan Singing Bowls, augmented by their wide range of notes, assist one's practice of meditation, massage, T'ai Chi or yoga. The tones from these bowls are designed to penetrate the particles of rainbow dust which hold together this impermanent illusion, he says.

The Best For Meditation, Yoga, Massage, Healing.......2006-12-07
Karma Moffett has created several wonderful albums of his Tibetan Bells. This is the first and maybe that is why it is my favorite. Tranquility Bells and Chakra Bells are also wonderful. There is no better music for the practice of meditation, for healing work, yoga, or where ever you wish to experience transcendance. Visit his website for information on his other works. This recording is special.
A Special Album.......2006-06-05
Far removed from the airy fairy banality of much new age music, Karma Moffett's 'Golden Bowls' manages to preserve the depth and spirituality of Tibetan bell music without diluting its essence. For meditation, relaxation, or any other quiet moments, this is a classic of the genre.
Guaranteed to send you to another dimension.......2006-02-07
Since the CD Golden Bowls came out, I've bought a number of copies ... two for myself and the others for friends. While I've purchased other CDs of Tibetan music, none comes close to this in the serene otherworldly tones produced as the bowls resonate. Golden Bowls is perfect for meditation. When the world is closing in or I'm anxious and ungrounded, all I have to do is stretch out and listen to the deeply vibrating tones of the bowls as they're struck one by one. They take me to a transcendent place where I seem to float above my body and mind.

slipping.......2006-05-20
I have been a big Stephan Micus fan for quite a few years, but I have to think that his last three CDs show signs his musical inventiveness is progressively slipping. This latest effort retains his honest, commercialism-be-damned approach--for which he should continue to be congratulated--but not very much in the way of listenable musicality. Honesty and spirit are one thing, but entertainment, even in honest and spiritual terms, is another. Here, the koan has taken center stage, in my opinion at the expense of the music(al entertainment). I hate to criticize the plan, but perhaps the first, rather long, narration should have been stretched longer yet to embrace the entire koan (to twenty plus minutes, that is), leaving the rest of the program open to material of greater accessibility. I'm afraid I can only take so much in the way of Zen chants, and I have never considered Micus' vocal powers one of his greatest assets to begin with.
A spiritual rather than musical attempt.......2005-08-05
Micus has always been a genre of his own, representing a unique way of musical expression in an otherwise musically dry 20th century. He dares to explore equipped with his vast knowledge of instruments and his never ending spiritual wandering. All these are more than enough to place him among the most important modern musical figures.
Nevertheless, I tend to believe that his last work crossed a certain threshold: The spirit dominated senses. He uses (or rather, exploits) music to convey his spiritual and rather esoteric message. It would have been quite acceptable should we were talking about a purely religious effort, or about something more inspired like his "Athos" work. But Micus stands for more than this.
I hope that soon we will be back experiencing the sheer magnificence of works like "Towards the Wind", "East of the Night" or "Wings over Water"
Oh Nelly.......2005-07-30
Not the best Micus album...hence the 4 stars, but let me say this...have you ever found yourself wandering aloft amongst the clouds wondering how you got there, wondering what happened to transport you through your own skin to something other than yourself? Well, if not, this album will get you there.
A very emotional journey, a nice blend of a variety of implements allows Micus to challenge us to break through our defenses. You will see that after listening to this album, like the man walking on the cover, you have been stripped of your past and your future, and are left with very little but a desire to warm up with your true self and the home you have been missing.
Micus gets "it", people. Thank God there are people like him to show us the way, at least musically....Peace.

Xumantra (shoo-mantra), cosmic voyagers.......2001-05-30
I have not read much about the members of Xumantra or their artistic aims, but fortunately, their music pretty much seems to speak for itself. This is not so much an album as it is a headspace- created by gongs, bells, bowls, and other metallic implements used in meditation and ritual in the east- which will serve to relax and center you, no matter what your beliefs may be. Buy this album, buy some incense (I recommend Nag Champa), turn out the lights, and just EXIST in the music, if you have the courage. This is not party music, and it is not 'easy listening'.. it is simply sculpted sound with magnificent power and scope. And yet it is extremely minimalistic. A person conditioned by commercial radio and television might call it boring, but the fact that Xumantra doesn't call to mind the flashing lights and flickering images of our modern world only adds to their appeal. If you like this, you may also want to look into the works of Steve Roach, Robert Rich, percussionists like Jim McGrath and tuvan singers like Jim Cole (Colescence).

a gift in sound!.......2004-06-19
the sound quality of these bowls is just so clear! the clarity is excellent and listening is so calming and centering... I use this CD in my therapy work to help my clients go beyond talk therapy and I am amazed at what comes up. With the composers' permission, I have added the track to my grief and forgiveness presentations to great effect. Thank you! Celia Ryan, grief therapist.
