"Fantastic ... A Masterpiece ... Incredible"

Product Description
A stunning debut from English guitarist and composer Anthony Hindson in the stellar company of world renowned musicians and a Grammy winning production team. A unique band merging styles and traditions from three continents: Europe, India and North America.

Cutting edge global fusion at the edge of the 21st century ... rock and raga perhaps. Bringing together for the first time Rock legend Jack Bruce from Cream on bass and vocals with phenomenal double violinist Shankar from Peter Gabriel's band and 'Shakti with John McLaughlin'. Also featured are the incredible drumming maestros Tony Williams (Miles Davis), Zakir Hussain and Vikku Vinayakram (Shakti / Planet Drum) and Gary Husband (Level 42 / Billy Cobham / Allan Holdsworth). Scott Thunes from Frank Zappa's band adds further incendiary bass playing. Track#7 includes the first time that Tony Williams and Zakir Hussain ever played and recorded together. The project was co-produced with David Hentschel whose extensive credits include Genesis, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Jean-Luc Ponty, Mike Oldfield, Yellowjackets, Andy Summers and Brand X.

The exceptional skills of James Guthrie were applied to the post production and mastering phase. James won a Grammy for producing and engineering Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' and his attention to the sonic quality of this disc is amazing. Signature Pink Floyd elements enhance the production with dramatic effect.

Widely respected for his recorded work with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, L. Subramaniam and Zakir Hussain & The Rhythm Experience, among others, the ten superb original compositions on 'It's A Curious Life' present Anthony's exhilarating virtuosity, passion and energy on both electric and 13-string acoustic guitars.

World Music and Global Fusion at the edge of the 21st century!

Band Members are... Jack Bruce (bass and vocals), Shankar (double violin), Tony Williams (drums), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Gary Husband (drums / keys), Scott Thunes (basses), Vikku Vinayakram (ghatam), John Good (flutes), Mark Robertson (piano / synth) and Deborah Winters (vocal)

5 out of 5 stars terrific, warm music.......2003-11-24

it took a little while to get used to, but this is truly superb rock-jazz-indian music fusion - ideal for a Sunday afternoon!

    5 out of 5 stars Great Album!!.......2003-01-21

The CD is great!! Perfect to pop in the CD player after a hard days work. The sound is soothing.

    5 out of 5 stars A Haunting Gem.......2000-02-28

Anthony Hindson, when asked to describe the album, called it "Turn of the century rock and raga...perhaps." While there certainly are historical references, the album sounds fresh and explores new territory. "Strewth" is a highlight with stellar musicianship from Shankar and Zakir Hussain. "Sunjog Variation" conjures up the fondest memories of the dearly departed Tony Williams. This is an album for the adventurous soul.

5 out of 5 stars One of the most incredible albums I've ever heard !.......1999-09-27

This album was recommended to me by 2 friends. One, a professional guitarist, is a long time Jack Bruce devotee. The other, a life long eastern music afficianado ( she writes for the international music press ). I wasn't particularly interested in either genre until I had a listen to this fabulous recording. The virtuosity is astounding. The compositions as diverse and luscious as anything I've ever heard. I was completely overwhelmed and have listened to it every day, discovering something new and wonderful with each playing. Jack Bruce's voice is certainly one of the finest ever to be recorded. Add to that, the infinitely exquisite jazz rhythms of Tony Williams, the haunting swirls of Shankar's omnipotent violin and Anthony Hindson's masterful work on thirteen string guitar and you have a deeply moving, intensely rocking fusion of Eastern and Western musical delights. Be certain to check out the song " The Whole Romantic Affair ( sung by the honey-throated Deborah Winters ). Its one of those you hear and ask yourself ..." where are songs like this at Grammy Time" ? Get this disc, you'll be touched forever by it.
