This is one the best albums - how could one call such great songs as Au Ras Des Paquerettes , Rive gauche, Une Guitare Un Citoyen - flat ?????
I would definitely recomend it to anyone who likes Alain Souchon art.

Over-produced music and mediocre lyrics.......2004-06-22

In general, this album is only mediocre unless you are truly a fan of Alain Souchon. None of the songs seem to have an edge and the music seems to fall flat. There is just nothing unique about this album. The exception to all of this is the amazing "Le Baiser." Quite possibly one of the most entrancing songs I have ever heard, Le Baiser conjures up rich imagery of North Belgium as powerful as that of Renaud's "Mistral gagnant" with a magical tune to support it. But in the end, it's not enough to save the album from the throes of mediocrity. Bref, buy the single, borrow the album.

This was my introduction to Alain Souchon, thanks to the miracle of Internet radio. There are so many fine songs on this CD, but I would buy it for "Rive Gauche" alone. Whenever I hear it, I see the rainy Paris streets I walked, the Metro trains I rode, the Pont Neuf across the Seine, everything. To me, that understated voice *is* France.

Another gem from Alain. After a hiatus of several years, it was wonderful to get some new material from the master of French modern romance. Viva le Souchon!

Alain Souchon masters his subject, as usual. All titles are of equal(great) quality. Not to be missed if you want to discover a future french classic !
