Customer Reviews:
so so album.......2006-01-22
i personally dont like the giving stars option, but have to.
The album was good. However I belive that Indian classical music is not meant to be played in duets. Shujjhat khan has mentioned this, in the booklet.
Tejendra Majumdar Is a amazing player, and Shujjhat is a good player. But both of them would have played more freely and naturally if they played solo. this seems very rehearsed.
Feel The Love, People.......2004-03-29
This is deeply spiritual music that, if listened to mindfully and honestly, can open hearts and bring peace and brotherhood to everyone, regardless of ethnicity and opinion and personality. Unlike rap, this is not the kind of music that causes dissension and partisanship and petty, bickering personal resentments. As evidenced by the reviews below, listening to this beautiful, profound music causes one to see things under the aspect of eternity and realize that we are all one within the endless void of being. Fused into one mind through contemplation of these divine melodies and harmonies, we finally grasp that the chains of Maya that seem to bind us to eternal strife are but an illusion and that it's all about the love.
THAT'S why everyone reviewing this CD is so mellow and cool with everyone else here.
And no need for anyone to "get a life" because there's no life for anyone to "get" after all. Life just IS, man.
Dig, man?
Groovy.
Why Mr. Bose?.......2004-03-29
Welcome back. It was pretty predictable that you would return again. Since you have taken the time to check out some of my reviews, you will probably understand the reference in the title of this one. You know, after you wrote your first "review," telling some of the rest of us that we need to "get a life" for exchanging rebuttal reviews here, it was an almost sure bet that you would feel compelled to come back in here, not one more time, but multiple times to do essentially the same thing you were ripping the rest of us for...only, predictably, outdoing the rest of us for being opinionated, judgemental, and devoid of a "life."
My personal life (i.e. wife, etc.), which btw is none of your freaking concern, is just fine, thanks--and it is a safe bet from the level of vitriol in your latest effort, that whatever kind of personal life I have is more happy, settled, and balanced than yours. Also, my personal hobbies are none of your freaking concern either, but I happen to like to write, have written music reviews in other places, and Amazon just happens to be one of the places I like to contribute, occasionally. Again, none of your business, but it's something I do occasionally when I have a little spare time: I've written 54 reviews in four years--big deal! Some people have written hundreds of reviews--again, so what? As is often the case, you have revealed more about yourself with your "revelation" about my little "hobby" than you have about me. It is not a big secret that I have written other reviews in Amazon; anyone who clicks on my nickname can tell that...that's part of the point.
I think you have now proven beyond a shadow of a doubt to all of us, just how much you know about everything, and we are duly impressed. You are truly one of the most judgemental, opinionated, hostile, people I have ever encountered, in person, or in print, and I for one am thankful that you have vacated California for Calcutta, because we have enough of those kind of people in California already. Yes, I can be judgemental and opinionated, too, although I try not to be...but certain attitudes still "push my buttons," e.g. bigots, and know-it-alls; and sometimes I feel compelled to reveal examples of these social afflictions. Now perhaps it's time for you to get on with your own life.
Also, congratulations on outdoing even the rest of us for disregarding Amazon's review guidelines. Oh, and one more thing: thanks for reading my reviews, by the way...the disapproval of someone like you is a ringing endorsement indeed. It's amazing how bold anonynity makes some people. Namaste (I'm sure there's some evidence of a creator in there somewhere).
VOIDNESS HAS WRITTEN 54 REVIEWS IN AMAZON.......2004-03-29
hey this is hillarious Mr Voidness your name suits you right you are void of a life or probably a wife. i just saw all the lenghty reviws you wrote. christ sake get a life. You seem to have soooooooooooo much time on your hands and nothing in your brain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for the record i have taken sanskrit in my undergrad days, and i presently live in cal (that is calcuttta not California) so i know many LAKXMIS. The name lakshmi is spelt the former way 70% of the time. lakxmi Shankar herself spells it this way many a times. Ravi shankar many a time refers her as LAKXMi. It can be spelt both ways. Why dont you just void your self out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Verdon: Shoe-Jack Con certainly IS the greatest satirist of all time. Never have I heard a better lampoon of the Etawah Gharana, nor do I ever expect to, not even if I live to be a thousand and one years old.
Cost of disc: $15.
Hilarity factor: priceless.

Customer Reviews:
Gorgeous Indian classical music... wow!.......2001-12-06
Sublime classical performance featuring Hussain on percussion and violin master Pandit Vishnu Govind Jog in a live recital, recorded in 1991. The second track, "Rag Rageshri", is a gorgeous violin exploration which primarily features the melodic alap movement; the first track is a much longer full piece, which gradually whirls into a frenzied riff-swapping between the tablas and violin. Despite the breakneck speed, the rich melody is never lost. HIGHLY recommended.

Customer Reviews:
Great music for meditation.......2003-02-11
This is one of the best albums of Shivkumar Sharma. 'Jog' means 'Yoga' - the union of human spirit and the cosmic spirit. Rag Jog brings out a deep spiritual feeling and on Santoor the effect is so deep that the listener will be instantly elevated to a sublime plane. The Alap, Jod, Jhala sequence sets the mood very effectively. The two compositions set to Rupak and Teen Tal are very brilliant. Certain chords that are struck in the fast tempo are so effective that they will keep echoing in your mind even after the music is over. Personally, this album has helped me to win over very stressful situations. I strongly recommend everyone to try this album. Try out Rag Jog played on flute by Hariprasad Chaurasia too... In fact, you can just go for any album that has Rag Jog in it!
