Born to a family steeped in centuries-old Spanish musical traditions, singer Rosario perfects her spicy, modern flamenco/rumba/pop/bossa nova mix on her fifth CD, Muchas Flores. The music is as alluring and textured as her dark and lovely looks, with one foot in the Iberian Peninsula and the other in Cuba and New York. "Al Son del Tambor," the title track, and "Tuyo Siempre" dance with urban attitude. "Como Quieres Que Te Quiera" and "Agua y Sal" are midtempo, island-breezed boleros that feature smooth guitar fills. For Rosario, these songs about love and life are the sonic flowers she shares with her fans. It's rare to achieve a "live" sound in a studio, but Rosario, with the expert production of Fernando Illan and Cachorro Lopez, manages to do just that. --Eugene Holley, Jr.

5 out of 5 stars Ritmico, Romantico, Alegre, Gran Disco.......2007-06-09

Este es un disco diferente, con el toque de la musica de España, pero fresco, romantico, alegre y sensual. Indudablemente la mejor produccion de Rosario, voz de mujer intensa y tierna a la vez.
This it is a different disc, with the touch of the Spanish Music, but fresh, romantic, happy and sensual. Doubtlessly the best Rosario's production, voice of intense and tender woman simultaneously.
Dont miss it!!!

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding!!!.......2006-05-20

I was in Spain a few years ago and I caught Rosario on the radio while driving between Barcelona and Cadaques. I immediately became addicted and bought this CD. Her music is so full of energy! It seems that I always have her music on my player--and without fail--someone always asks "This is great! Who is that?" As always, they are on Amazon the next day to order the CD.

You don't have to understand Spanish to appreciate Rosario. Here music is pure life and energy. Buy this CD.

5 out of 5 stars Just excellent!.......2005-10-13

This CD is wonderful, every song is full of happiness and spanish taste. Rosario shares her best expression through all the songs.

5 out of 5 stars Poetic Music.......2005-07-07

I spend three months looking for this CD and couldn't find it anywhere. I heard one of the songs "Agual y Sal" or Salt and water as it would be called in english in one of the spanish soap-operas I used to see. I absolutely love this song but once I heard the samples of all the other tracks I fell in love with many of them...such as: Rosa y Miel, Al Son del Tambor, Tuyo Siempre, muchas flores, and lets not forget La Casa en el Aire. I'd never heard of Rosario Flores in my life...until then! So, like I was saying...the song of "Agua y Sal" is so special to me. I relate to it completely, and more than poetic is my life right there and then. I recomended this CD to anyone that's a hopeless romantic!

5 out of 5 stars Muchas Flores......................2005-02-02

It must have been early morning around seven a.m. A friend of mine was playing some music on his computer. "Déjame Ver" was the name of the song. This guy listens to hardcore rap for the most part, and yet he was listening to this smooth piece of music by Rosario Flores. I stopped, looked at him, sat down and started to listen as well. There's no doubt in my mind that Rosario can sing. Not wanting to be drawn in by one song alone, I listened to the entire CD. Her music reminds me a lot of Spain. I've been there twice in my life time. The people are very hospitable (attempt to speak the language and you'll make instant friends) and the food is awesome. If you get the chance, don't let this CD past you by. Venture out of your comfort zone and listen to something that you've never listen to before.

5 out of 5 stars A refreshing Spanish talent who is new to me. She rocks!.......2004-04-11

Thanks to all Amazoners for your great reviews as yet again I've discovered a great artist totally unknown to me before your collective input. As I know understand Rosario is not a new kid on the block and is the daughter of a very famous flamenco star. Well it seems that the apple does not fall far from the tree.

This CD opens with one of the spiciest singles of recent years titled "El Sol Del Tambor." Rosario sounds great and the production is amazing as she sounds like she's singing right next to you. Next comes "Como Quieres Que Te Quiera," which slows things down to a great midtempo with those classic Spanish guitars providing major atmosphere. "Agua Y Sal" is very seductive and showcases Rosario's unique voice, which sounds very mature yet more current than much of what is out there. She also manages to sound very emotive yet stronger than any of what the world may throw her way. The title song "Muchas Flores" really anchors the CD and it's the catchiest song of the bunch. Again Rosario sounds like she's singing live in a bar being backed by masters. The choruses are out of this world. "Buscame" has a nice bolero feel to it, yet sounds very current. The harmonica interlude is icing on the cake. I think that you get the picture of what I think of this release. It gives me the feeling of an endless summer when everything seems possible.

Although comparisons are sometimes unfair to all, if you have not heard of Rosario and don't know what she sounds like, I would classify her as part Shakira, Gipsy Kings, and all Rosario. I could not recommend this CD any more than I am as it's a winner from beginning to end. Recently I've been drawn to many Spanish artists in both cinema and music so it may be worth noting to some that Rosario appears in Almodovar's gem "Talk To Her." Spain seems to be overflowing with talent and I am just getting started. Sometimes we forget that there is a big world out there and that we lose out by just complaining when US talent does not fill us. In the past couple of years I've had the pleasure of making some discoveries from Mexico, Italy, Argentina, and of course Spain due to you guys so I thank you again and hope that you continue contributing, especially when certain releases don't have many reviews and makes it harder to take a chance without at least some guidance. I just bought Rosario's latest "De Mil Colores" and as soon as it sinks in I will share the wealth.

4 out of 5 stars Nice.......2004-01-08

A nice album here. Not your typical gypsy flamenco record but a nice little mix of different sounds with the flamenco.
Great voice as well!
If you're into flamenco music in any way, this will be worth it.

5 out of 5 stars World class sound.......2003-09-08

Even if your first language is not Spanish, this CD will provide sounds that already seems familiar to you. My husband and i absolutely love it.

5 out of 5 stars Brlliant (Even though I don't speak Spanish!).......2003-08-19

I brought this CD after hearing it in a restaurant in Menorca (a Spanish Island in the Med). I love the vibrancy of the music. Everyone really seems to be partying! My favourite track is Como Quieres Que Te Quiera. A great CD for any occasion, especially a summer barbeque.
