5 out of 5 stars Astonishing masterpiece.......2003-12-08

This is one of Banerjee's greatest recorded performances - - although I hesitate to say that in light of the large number of live performances that seem to be lurking in the vaults. I own twenty-something vinyl and CD albums of his performances, but I had not run across this one until recently. The pacing and mystery of the lengthy introductory Alap is wonderful, and the rest of this amazing performance lives up to that marvelous introduction ... For those who don't know classical Indian music, a better introduction is the great duet album with Banerjee and Ali Akbar Khan. But people who love this music should surely find space in their collection for this dazzling Munich concert.

5 out of 5 stars Another Masterpiece.......2003-10-01

Thanks to Raga Records for bringing forth this beautiful CD. The late Nikhil Banerjee is in a class of his own. He is a true "Indian Classical" sitarist. He doesn't venture into other "western" territories. So with Mr. banerjee you have purity and seriousness. Also, BEAUTY. This one from 1976 should become part of everyone's Nikhil Banerjee collection. It is in Mono (the only drawback but one that is easy to live with). I am primarily a rock music fan. But recently I've been listening to Indian Classical music on a regular basis. I find Mr. Banerjee is also very good for meditation. His alap's will take you to another dimension. Thank you Nikhil Banerjee and Thank you Raga Records
