Traditional Hawaiian Music.......2004-03-29

Sean is a very talented artist. Unfortunately, his career is heading in a less than desirable direction--popular music rather than traditional. This album, Holomua, to my mind, points in the direction he should move. It is one of the most musical, nonfatiguing, original and listenable Hawaiian traditional music albums I have heard (and own). His voice is totally enjoyable, the arrangements and backgrounds are wonderful and well thought out. He also mixes in a little "modern" Hawaiian music, all of which blends well into the traditional approach, and which keeps the tracks from sounding monotonous. This is an album you'll want to listen to when you aren't trying to fall asleep; and it'll keep listeners of all ages (but primarily those above 40 or those who love traditional Hawaiian music) entertained. It's a pity I haven't been able to find another of his albums that is in this style. I recommend it highly; and I ask Sean, when do we get Volume 2? It's time to HOLO'MUA.
