Year after year, Gene Mitchell comes up with albums that raise spirits and move souls. The originality he has always puts into his music certainly shows in Vacation. I am glad I purchased this CD!

LV is so far the best Japanese TV series.......2001-09-29

LV is so far the best Japanese TV series and one of the reason for its success is its music. This is just a great CD.Anyone who has or has not watch LV should own it ! It worths your money.

A very good disc!.......1999-04-29

This is a very good CD, for me it rates 5 stars, but I listen to a lot of Import CDs, from Japan in particular so I like it better than the average listener probally would. But If you have seen Long Vacation or even if you have not. And like pop especially J-pop I think you will not be dissapointed in this selection of music.

I liked this disc very much, actually I have hoped that a soundtrack to this show would be released on CD ever since I first saw the Long Vacation TV drama on the International Channel a few years ago and never knew there was one until just a few days ago.

So I highly suggest you get it if you also like J-Pop or any of vocals from some of the Japanese Anime series that are out there. but if you don't like music with lyrics in another language than this is probally not the disc for you. There is a couple tracks that are instrumental and even a few english vocals, but around half of them is in Japanese. So I believe there is a enough here for everyone. You might want to try the samples to get a taste of it, and I believe after listening to these few tracks you'll love this disc also. Oh and by the way if you have a chance, try to see the series also. Very good even though short. because the music is even better if you have seen it when you remember the story.

Actually The only thing I did not like about it is, it does not include the most excellent Opening Theme song of the show "La La La love Song". I just hope they release a Vol. 2 CD with it as well as a little BGM too. And it is a little short at around 40 minutes. But altogether is a very good disc and rates at 5 stars, but the release gets 4 stars, not because of the amount of minutes on the disc but because it does not include the very very good and in my opinion best piece of music from the series, next to "Close to you Sena's Piano II. I wonder why it was not included, maybe because it is not by Cagnet the main composers of the songs on the rest of the album. but I could be wrong. But a 5 star disc it is none the less, even without the before mentioned song.

Well that is my opinion, and I hope this review helps anyone reading this decide if they want to purchase it. Thanks.

If you have watched the LV, I sure you will love this CD........1999-03-21

The film LV is so hit. One of the reasons is the background songs and music are so great. Apart from the "Close to you Sena's piano II" is so touching, the "Sobani Iteyo" is also impressive. Don't miss it. Buy it now!

Even if you are not LV fans, you'd love this CD. Cagnet's Songs are simple but great! Song like "What will I do" and "Deeper and Deeper"are touching. Must have for every LV fans

The Greatest Japanese Pop Album in 1980s.......2006-09-10

Many people say this is the greatest Japanese pop album in the early 1980s. Several million copies are sold in Japan. The creator, Eich Otaki, is one of the most respected composers and producers in the commercial popular music industry in Japan.

Collaborating with Takashi Matsumoto, Otaki's melodious sound earns the romanticism of Matsumoto's lyrics and creates an unparalleled kind of popular music of that time in Japan. The outcome was phenomenal. "A Long Vacation" and Otaki's other compositions greatly influence Japanese pop music in 1980's.

If you have lived in early 1980 as a young adult in Japan, this album must bring you back all kinds of memories of your old days. This is an important piece in the history of Japanese popular music.
