The debut of the young, classically trained international quintet of sopranos Jo Appleby and Tsakane Valentine, tenors David Habbin and Geoff Swell, and basso Nick Garret offers up a familiar take on the crossover formula that has enriched everyone from genre pioneers The Three Tenors to Russell Watson and beyond. While their occasionally electro-pumped rhythms and youth-angled marketing shtick ("The world's first opera band!") may borrow a page from Opera Babes and Bond, it still manages to evoke the spirit (if not the letter) of its eclectic classical sources. And if the world hasn't exactly been burning for yet another dramatized update of Turandot's melodic "Nessun Dorma," The Pearl Fishers, or--for that matter--"Unchained Melody," Amici Forever's takes on the pop side of the crossover equation are indeed promising, recasting Alex North's "Unchained.." ("Senza Catene") and their reworked theme to the miniseries Band of Brothers("Requiem for a Soldier") in a successful, neo-classical light. If Neopolitan-shaded originals like "Canto Alla Vita" and "Vita Mia" sound like Josh Groban clones, their glorious harmonic vocal reworkings of Faure's "Pavane" ("Whisper of Angels") and Elgar's "Enigma Variations" ("Nimrod: Lux Aeterna") bristle with an ambitious sense of adventure that's missing from much of their crossover competition. Serious opera buffs may still quarrel with the daring "impurity" of it all, but if Amici Forever prod a few more pimply punters to peruse Puccini, won't it all have been worth it? --Jerry McCulley

Definitive.......2007-07-27
Beautiful! Even friends who've never cared for opera love this one. A tonic at the end of a grueling day, a weekend afternoon introspective, a late-night lead-in to a flight of dreams ... a whisper of angels.
great choice.......2007-01-11
this was a gift for family. family member loves album quality and selections.
Brilliant offering.......2007-01-10
Amici Forever is suberb in every way. Their arrangements are exceptional and the original lyrics are perfect poetry.
Easy Listening.......2006-09-21
Bought the album after hearing someone talk about the group. Thought the voices were okay (baritone was the best) but in some songs didn't blend properly. Selection of pieces was interesting . . . pop, classical, opera. Good album for "background" music.
Very Relaxing Music.......2006-09-11
I first heard it at a shop that sells English products. I thought it was interesting to hear and decided to get the CD for myself. I find the chorus very relaxing especially the last song which nearly put me to sleep as I am doing my homework. Amici Forever is a good CD to listen to when you have nothing to do or to soothe your wracked nerves.

Incredible!.......2005-11-19
A friend of mine recommended Cris Williamson and played Waterfall for me. I remembered the song vaguely from college and when I picked up the album I was hooked. But my true appreciation for this album was at a major turning point in my life while waiting for surgery in Vibraham hospital in Bangkok Thailand. I listened to to the songs that had become, by that time, old friends, but they took on new meaning. Song of the Soul just perfectly expressed so much about the world. It led me to such acceptance of myself and forgiveness for others. In the middle of Dream Child the nurses arrived to take me for my SRS. Everything turned out wonderfully, but that morning changed me so much in how I look at the world. I still can't listen to the album without the same profound thoughts coming to my mind. I'm deeply indebted.
Like a Comfortable Friend.......2003-01-29
Like an old friend, this album goes with me wherever I go. It's just one of those albums.
Cris Williamson has a low folk voice -- smooth as satin, and yet she can make it "break" at just the right moment of expressiveness. I love the way she sings. She has one of those voices that makes it obvious ... she was born to sing.
The songs are comfortable ballads with a folk edginess, meaning NO watered down lyrics. The songs feel easy and warm, but the lyrics are clear and never dull.
The opening number, WATERFALL, will have you singing along in about three listens. It's a song about feeling good, about being kind, and about relaxing - letting go.
WILD THINGS is a lush ballad that leaves no doubt - this woman can SING like crazy.
And the album as a whole just rings "keeper" from the very first listen. It quickly becomes a staple in your music collection.
Good music and lyrics all the way.......2002-06-20
I had this album in the 80's given to me by a male friend, my daughters loved it and we learnt the words to the songs, recently we began to yearn to hear it again and have been persuing it.
The songs are classic, some will be inspired by their feminist nature but all should be impressed by the lyrics and the emotion in the music.
Totally Awesome!.......2001-12-02
I was introduced to Chris Williamson's music/women's music appoximately 12 years ago at a retreat and fell in love with it almost instantly. I had never heard any music classified as "women's" prior to that. Chris sings with such feeling...she is truly an inspiration.
I have owned the cassette for approximately 12 years and like it so much I plan to purchase a CD of it. I can honestly say I really like all, but one of the songs.
"Wildthings" is out of this world! My nieces and nephews like it too. They sing along...even the nephew that acts like Mr. Cool! When the tape is over, my nieces ask me to play it again.
IF more stars were available...100+ might do it!.......2001-10-23
Cris is the "gift" to music. She shares her heart and soul in vocal stylings that are easy on the ears, touching to the heart, and life affirming. If you have no other woman's albums...start here...you will be ordering all of her albums, none of which deviate from the superb quiality of this album. Cris is undoubtedly the finest musician never palyed on "pop" radio...if they only knew what they are missing!

Product Description
Vicki Randle - vocalist, percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and one of the most visible and hard working musicians in America. For 14 years Vicki Randle has been the lead singer and percussionist of the acclaimed Tonight Show Band.
Album Description
Vicki Randle's amazing voice and musicianship are widely known, but until now, her song writing hasn't been! Her songs tend to be rhythmically complex, musically diverse and lyrically very personal. With a style that runs the gamut from jazz and blues to pop, rock, country and soul, she tackles issues from all sides. Relationships, faith, death and the entertainment industry are all fair game for Randle - her withering look at the latter, "Next Big Thing," is an album highlight. If the voice sounds familiar, you might know Vicki from her "day job" as the percussionist and vocalist in the Tonight Show band!
Customer Reviews:
Vicki Randle is more than the woman in the band.......2007-06-20
Vicki was a familiar face and voice from The Tonight Show. The lone woman, and sole vocalist she has a stong presence. Big smile, congas at her side, what did I really know about this familiar late night face? I came across her cd by accident, and in one of those coincidental sort of happanstances found out that she was to perform at the tavern down the street from my home in the next week. I listened to the cd and was surprised that the big, percussion heavy sound of the Tonight Show band was nowhere to be found. Instead, a very feminine, tender, and more personal folksy sound is represented on this selection of music. In person (on stage with keyboardist Julie Wolf, Barbara Higbie on fiddle, Teresa Trull on back-up vocals and Lisa Koch on bass) the songs really sprang to life with a richness that is missing from some of the tracks on the cd. The most accessible tracks are "I've Been Thinking", "Carry On" and the beautiful "Broken Heart". These songs are warm and rich. Vicki plays guitar beautifully. It is easy to see why she has had such a wide ranging and consistent career. Check out her website, her life has been as interesting as her career. This one is worth a listen.

save yourself.......2003-09-10
As a fan of many years, this endavour of Cris' leaves me cold.
This cd unfortunately lacks soul, the poetry of imagination on has come to expect from Cris. It lacks score, scope and heart. And its a sorry thing . . . though it may be due to the relationship detritting.
no stars if that is possible.......2001-10-24
I bought this soon after it's release. I was excited to have another Cris Album. I own them all!! I was so disappointed in it. I have listened to it several times looking for the depth, sincerity and thought provoking movement that is present in ALL of Cris's work. It simply is not available in this CD. I am glad to add a New solo album "Ashes" from Cris recently that returns to all of the creativity and depth that make her a tremendous artist! The break up of the duo may have wounded her personal life, but it seems to have saved her career!
Wonderful CD.......2001-08-08
Everything they've ever recorded has been very good, and this is no exception. There are some excellent songs here--the kind that leave you humming all day. I'm sorry that there won't be any more CD's by these two.
Disappointing........2000-01-15
The songs all sound the same, with a beat that, after so much repetition, is annoying. The lyrics strain to match the music. I've listened to Cris for 25 years and this is the first time I haven't liked something she's done.

Customer Reviews:
Her healing is our healing.......2005-02-17
I have just spent the last hour doing my emotional healing work to Ashes. It's something I do from time to time--get out the CD and allow it to take me through the grieving-releasing-healing paces. And no, what I've used it to heal from was not related to the specifics of what catalyzed her to write it--but the wounds of this world are universal--the pain of feeling separated from Spirit, and the healing process is the healing process is the healing process! The energy patterns involved in healing are universal and when we blaze a trail up and out, others can use that path to more easily find their way.
In our quest for sustainable Joy, there are times when you just need to clear out emotional stuff and sometimes you have no idea what that lump in the pit of your stomach is about--you just know that if you are to rise in frequency and reclaim Joy, you need for it to "liquefy" and flow on through. That was the case today, and I alternated between feeling huge grief to heart-leaping-up Joy in the process. Most of the time, I was crying--but all tears are not grief. We are always so close to Joy when we let the impediments to it go. When I finished my "session," I put on my favorite rocket-me-to-the-Joy-space music, and was able to feel the magic of full-fledged Joy for the first time in days. What a blessing!
Whenever we heal ourselves, we heal the world. Whenever we share our healing with the world as Cris has done, we bless all Creation. THANK YOU, Cris.
Phoenix rising.......2001-12-03
Some of her best work ever, honest, painful, healing.
genre free music.......2001-12-01
I saw Chris play a small venue many years ago in Santa Cruz as part of a benefit for the Christic Institute (remember them?). I was about knocked out of my seat as much by her music as by her...being... I guess.
A few weeks ago, wandering through a music store, I decided to take a listen to her new CD. I must have stood there for a half hour. Bought the CD and it hasn't been out of the player since.
I'd characterize it as very musical without being overproduced. The production seems clean and true to the spirit of the compositions. I really love the way her musical stylings range all over the place.
My sister who is more aware of Chris explained all the autobiographical background. The CD plays just as well without knowing all of that and it somehow reduced the experience of the music for me. ... but that's probably just me...
Way to go Chris. So glad you're still out there lighting the world with your fugitive mind...
Interesting, but lacking..........2001-12-01
While I really enjoyed "Cry, Cry, Cry" and I was speechless when I read the lyrics to "Ashes", I'm somewhat disappointed in this CD as a whole. It sounds just like most of her other cd's/albums; there's no variety. I could have been listening to any other cd. Bonnie Raitt was definitely a great person to work with and she certainly added a lot. I won't, however, be rushing out to buy my own copy. I'll wait for the next cd and see if it's any better.
Paying for her therapy.......2001-12-01
Being a long time Cris fan, I went out and purchased this CD right away. Perhaps I should have waited for reviews. This album is nothing more than the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth of a once so talented woman. The only two songs that hold any merit are "Cry, Cry, Cry" - and that is because Bonnie Raitt carries the song, and the acoustic song about letting the girl go. Well, it is time to let her go!

ON Second Thought!.... Get It !.......2003-03-05
Kinda funny thing happened to me. I wrote the below review also that states "Pass on this one". Then I took the cd home and listened to it again at home instead of at work. I really enjoyed the cd second time around. It is a bit more "jazzy" than their other cd, but there is plenty to keep ones interest. Overall, I am in fact happy I have this cd. I think I'll listen to cds more than once before reviewing them!
Pass on this one.......2003-02-11
I have "Dream Song" and I absolutely love that cd. I bought this one hoping it would at least be somewhat like it but it is not. Its pretty quiet, non eventful, and not very memorable. No song on this cd grabbed me at all. I'm glad I bought it used. To me, this cd is not very Native American themed at all. Maybe you can pick out something that is, but again its nothing like Dream Song. I gave 2 stars for effort, but I was let down.
Strong Album But Little Known...........2002-03-15
With the exception of 1 or two tracks I would say this is a very nice CD. I dont know the possibility of the average person picking this up but if your into native american or tribal music then this definately should be checked out.

Cris-better with time.......2006-11-22
Cris has outdone herself with Real Deal. From her signature easy to follow lyrics to her impressive deeper alto voice. I am so happy she is still recording after 30 years.
She gets better with age, more insight, more fun and sexier than ever. The last cut on this CD "Real Deal" is SO sultry that I nearly ran off the freeway!
Atta woman Cris!
A joy!.......2006-05-25
I LOVE this album! And I have just about all of Cris's music. I confess that when I first got Real Deal, I was not bowled over, and put it aside for awhile. I got it back out a few days ago and played it to find that its simplicity and clarity truly grows on you. Now I'm hooked! It's now getting quite the workout.
There are so many songs that really stick with you--Songbird, Footprints, True Story/True Blue, and My House Tonight, to name a few. And I have been singing "Hecho En Mexico" ALL DAY LONG! It's the ultimate addictive song, perfectly crafted, with its breezy Latin rhythm and delightful lyrics--it transports you South of the Border, and gives you the sense that you're sipping a perfect coin Margarita on a sunny balcony overlooking the ocean, your lover by your side, not a care in the world! If I could only have one song off this album, it would be this one--but I'm glad I don't have to choose!

Pianoforte Opus 5: Broadway Delight!.......2007-03-20
Christopher Peacock is an extremely talented pianist. This CD is both exciting and soothing. I play it in my office as background music and use the auto reverse mode! I am planing to purchase additional CDs of his.
Music that is great to accompany any quiet project or event........1998-09-27
This CD is my favorite when I work on my computer especially after a long day at work. The music is current and liked by teens as well as adults. My niece asked her parents to buy a copy after hearing it during Easter dinner at our house. The music simply makes me feel good.
