The best crystal bowl cd ever? Yeah right..........2007-02-17

That's what I said as I read the reviews here and clicked over to the author's website... so I reluctantly handed over my cash with little expectation, and well, I have to say... I agree!

Frankly, I was a little surprised, I love this kind of music and my last purchase of Stephen Halpern's Crystal Bowls was disappointing to say the least as it was filled with synthesizers and other cheesy New Age effects. This one is not and I wouldn't even lump it with a New Age tag (as the product description has). It' just truly beautiful music. The resonance is wonderful and the first chakra track is great for getting me, or my space back into alignment. Simply put it on in the background and clear your space. Wonderful! The other tracks on the CD have beautiful touches including shamanic instruments like the Buffalo drums, rattles, native flutes, rain sticks and other instruments. All appropriately added, expertly played and NO New Age cheese. What's interesting about it is that the CD recorded in one evening with no manipulations. I love reading books and listening to audio of people that have opened their heart - you can feel that in the work... in a similar way I think this is transmitted through music and it most definately is here.

I have since recommended and raved about this CD to all my friends. If you're a healer with a practice, you're going to want it for background music or just clearing your space. For everyone else, it's wonderful for relaxation and coming back into balance (put on your headphones for a real treat) or just some soothing music to play after a hard day or most definately for people who are not feeling well.

Other crystal bowl CDs I like include Benjamin Iobst Seven Metal Singing Bowls of Tibet and Crystal Voices by Deborah Van Dyke. Daniel Goleman's work is also fantastic - Chakra Dance, Chakra Chants and his Om CD (although all his work is good).

I highly recommend this beautiful CD. There are extra touches, with different instruments so if you're using it purely for meditation, that may distract you (as some other reviewers seem to have experienced). That is, I guess, a matter of personal preference - some people would be okay with the other instruments. It's the kind of CD where you that makes you go and buy everything the artist has ever produced. Of the hundreds of the healing type CDs I have, this is, and will remain, well and truly at the top of the heap. This might just be... the best crystal bowl CD ever!

This CD, just like all Crystal Vibrations productions, is pure healing. I can always count on the first track (Chakra Alignment) to bring me back into balance and alignment. I also use this disc as a space clearing tool for my home... the high vibrations resonate throughout, leaving my space feeling warm and wonderful. Pretty incredible music that makes everything I do while listening seem to happen effortlessly. It shifts and "tunes up" the energy in the room and in me! The Chakra alignment is like a warm up to the magic of all the other instruments that weave in and out of the singing bowls. So you can stay really focused and present or drift off into deeply meditative states. Listening to the soothing music on this CD is one of the best prescriptions you can give yourself! Lighten Up, Chill Out and Recharge.......2005-10-17

This is my favorite of all the meditation and singing crystal bowl music I own and I have a huge collection. Initially, I used it for meditation in the morning before work and then again when I got home. It left me calm for the day and recharged at night. Then I thought to put it on while paying bills and doing stressful chores. The resonance of the crystal bowl tones had an immediate effect. I was able to focus and breathe with ease while I completed my tasks. The sound quality is superb and you get all the beautiful overtones that can only come on a live recording. And the effect is lasting. For a real vacation, listen to this CD with headphones.

I own every project he has put out but this is the first CD of his that I own (the rest are cassettes). His music is evokative and profound, the way he can make a cello cry like a mournful dove is simply fantastic.
I hope to increase my Michael Card CD collection in the very near future.

THE REAL "SUMMER OF LOVE" .......2005-03-03

MICHAEL CARD's Greatest Hits compilation was released in 1994 - one of the best years of my life. I recall hearing the song 'WHY?' for the first time in my (then) girlfriend's car, just as we were entering the eastbound I-10 onramp at Sepulveda Boulevard. Only a couple of months earlier, on April 6, while alone in an apartment in a grungy area of Los Angeles, I was quite unexpectedly driven to my knees, where Jesus Baptized me with The Holy Spirit. I didn't exactly know what had happened to me , or why - only that I was suddenly changed somehow. Obviously, that was a special year for this reviewer, and when I heard Michael Card sing, "WHY DID THEY NAIL HIS FEET AND HANDS WHEN HIS LOVE WOULD HAVE HELD HIM THERE?" it perfectly described the Fire I felt inside me, and the Love that I knew Jesus has for us! I asked my girlfriend to replay that song several times. For me, that remains one of the greatest lines ever written about my Savior King. And although I don't play it often, 'JOY IN THE JOURNEY' always takes me back to that magical year of rebirth.

Michael Card does not have a particularly great voice, but it adequately conveys the obviously heartfelt convictions of his nicely crafted Gospel songs. What makes Card special is his lyrics; he is Christian Rock's premier wordsmith, able to create songs around deep theological concepts. He overreaches at times ("...the universe fell from His Fingertips."; "...He sent His only Son and so became a Holy Embryo."), but that's the cost of creating fresh, unique expressions, and attempting to translate the Mystery into song. There may be an occasional misstep, but there's no doggerel verse here - just first class Christian poetry sung with sincerity, and sometimes backed by surprisingly powerful "electric" passion ('Known By The Scars', 'Scandalon', 'So Many Books', and my favorite track, 'Know You In The Now.') I'm rarely impressed by the lyrics of most songwriters, but consider these lines :

Now THAT'S what I call "writing!" Most of these tracks are enthusiastic and catchy. If they played this stuff on Christian radio I'd tune in once in awhile.

Michael Card's, 'JOY IN THE JOURNEY' puts joy in my journey, and it calls to mind my personal "Summer Of Love." And when this world douses my spirit, 'JOY IN THE JOURNEY' can fan my embers into a Divine Flame again. Brothers and Sisters, I think you'll like it too.

Powerful Theological Truths in Music Form.......2004-11-22

Music is powerful. The Bible makes this clear. Within the heart of man is a desire to release their emotions, affections, dreams, concerns, even theological truths in musical form. The Psalms (literally "praises") were written with all forms of human emotions but contained truths focused on God's Word (Psalm 119 is a prime example).

Today, however, it seems Christian music has lost its theological focus. Its now more bent on experience or a "personal relationship with Jesus." Songs taken from the Scriptures and the truth therein is found mainly in some praise & worship artists and Michael Card. Card is a theologian who happens to play guitar. His love and passion for the Scriptures flows in his songs. From El Shaddai to The Final Word, Card takes deep theological truths and put them to music.

There is a silent revolution taking place in Christian music. The likes of Keith Green, Steve Camp, John Fisher, and Michael Card is not lost. God is reviving musicians who desire to glorify God alone! And I'm happy to endorse this album as an example of that revolution.

Simply the Best!.......2002-10-11

Michael Card is a pure muscial genius. What's better is he has decided to devote his gift to Christ. I have listened to practically all Christian artists and Michael Card is the King. Without any doubt. If you don't own this man's album, shame on you. Each of his songs are so deep, thoughtful, and annoited. My dad always says he could preach a sermon on each of Card's songs. I agree. His best includes: Scandalon, Starkindler, Known By the Scars, Know You in the Now, How Long, The Dragon, Into the Mystery, Celebrate the Child, The Final Word, God's Own Fool, Why?, Joy In the Journey, Salvation, Jubilee, You are Worthy, Soul Anchor, and many more. I can't say enough about this man and his music. BUY THIS CD!

Disney management has often been accused of sacrificing the long-term quality of its animated features for the short-term pay-off of direct-to-video sequels to its middling modern successes. Alright...........2005-11-30

The music in this sequal is nothing compared to the first movie, but the tunes are catchy, and for a child that just enjoyed the movie, I could see how this would be a CD they'd want to hear over and over. It could get a bit annoying to their parents however. I would suggest seeing the movie before purchasing this soundtrack, for the songs are out of order from the movie, and it's always better to have a visual of what's going on before listening to the music alone.
I wasn't impressed, but I did enjoy it.

Terrible movie, but good soundtrack!.......2005-11-03

As a Chinese, I think this movie was terrible, because it made the tale of Mulan very confuse and strange. I don't want to see this movie again. But I bought this soundtrack, because the music was very good. Being fond of Lea Salonga's voice was one of the reasons.
The first song in this movie was "Lesson Number One", and it was my favourite. I love the choirs of children, it was perfect! It made me recognize the children's choirs in the church. Lea Salonga's voice was so sweet, and it's my favourite style! "A girl worth fighting for" came up in this soundtrak but it was remixed, and most of the lyrics were changed. Although it was very different from the original one, I love it. Because it gave me a good feeling, and I felt that it was more humorous than the original one. Another song named "Like other girls" is one of my favourites. Mei's voice was a little strange but very cute. The three princesses seemed to be crazy, but I could feel their emotion that they were eager of freedom and very unsetisfied with the arranged marrige. I felt very happy that they found their love and happiness by the end.
This was a movie which was so terrible but with perfect songs I have ever seen!

i saw the mulan II and loved the music in it, so i went out and bought the cd. here are my comments on each song-

1. lesson number one- 5/5. cute song
2. main title (score)- 5/5. i thought this was so pretty!
3. like other girls- 5/5. i absolutely love this song! it has a great beat, and just makes you want to sing along.
4. girl worth fighting for (redux)- 5/5. i love this song too, its funny
5. here beside me- 5/5. the first time i listened to it, i thought it was "ok", but now i think its great!
6. (i wanna be) like other girls (atomic kitten)- 5/5. i thought it was a great version of the original.

the next five songs, which are scores, are also very good!

overall, this cd was well worth my money, and the movie was even better!

The 'other girls' song is cute, but this reminds me of the follows up to pocahontas and cinderella and the little mermaid. Aladin's did well enough to make more, but...I think it really does have to do with the music. Mulan had that strong "reflection" by christina aguilera when she was first coming out, that established her as THE best voice, and that song, in spanish or english works well on it's own also. These sequals keep failing to have a strong song. The strengths here lie with the new score, new themes. It's easier to create a better classical piece for Disney it seems. And they have so many talented singers at their disposal...

Every journey with the Goodmans is a joyful one.......2004-05-11

The Happy Goodmans, tracing their history all the way back to the 1940s, were the First Family of gospel music; if you want to hear old-time Southern gospel the way it is supposed to be sung, look no further than the Happy Goodmans. Joy For the Journey, released in 1998, was the follow-up to the previous year's Always (which was the group's first album in seven years). The group saw many changes over the course of its musical ministry, and several members of the Goodman family have passed away over the decades. Here you have the group in its final incarnation: Howard "Happy" Goodman, Vestal Goodman (the First Lady of gospel music), and Johnny Minick. Sadly, both Howard and Vestal have now gone on to join the heavenly choir, but they were in fine form indeed on this album.

The trio didn't get together just to re-record old songs, as seven of the ten tracks here were brand new. (The three older tracks are Hallelujah (1957), Well Done, My Child (1946), and I Believe He's Coming Back (1978).) Nor were the Goodmans taking it easy in the studio. Howard and Vestal were no spring chickens in 1998, but they could still "get happy" with hand-clapping songs of joy such as Joy For the Journey, the extra-spirited Hallelujah, and What a Happy Time. I Believe He's Coming Back, featuring Anthony Burger on piano, is a song written by the late Rusty Goodman (one of the best gospel singers the world will ever know); the family connection to Rusty (as well as the song's amazing blend of voices) makes this a truly wonderful addition to this album.

In the final years of his career, Howard didn't have the stamina he once had, but his voice was just as powerful as ever when this album was recorded - this fact is most self-evident in Howard's singing of Who Is This Jesus? Johnny Minick doesn't step into the spotlight very often, but the rich quality of his voice comes through clearly on the song He Said Peace.

Vestal takes center stage on Mercy, a slow and moving song about the great mercy shown by God in sending His Son to die on the cross. At just over five minutes in length, this beautiful song showcases Vestal's compelling voice in all its power and glory. Later, Vestal sings about the Unharvested Field that represents so much of the world. One line toward the end of the song pretty much sums up the entire history of The Happy Goodman Family - Lord, don't let me leave an unharvested field. The final song on the album is clearly the most special one, as Janet Paschal wrote I'd Do It All Over Again especially for Vestal.

Gospel music is becoming more and more contemporary these days, which is fine for some, but many of us prefer a more traditional style of music. If you're looking to find that old time religion, then Joy For the Journey may be just what you're looking for.

A "MUST HAVE" for your complete Gospel Collection!.......1998-07-21

This CD showcases The Happy Goodman Family at their finest! From the first track to the last, the selections on this recording are a treat indeed. Of special note is Johnny Minick's rendition of HE SAID PEACE. Another outstanding notable is the piano accompaniment on I BELIEVE HE'S COMING BACK. Here, special guest Anthony Burger (of the Bill & Gloria Gaither videos) really creates a special performance. This CD is beutifully played and sung. Howard and Vestal sing with the sparkle that we have all come to enjoy so much. Truely a great doccument of Southern Gospel Music! A deffinate "must have" for any Gospel Music fan.

Andy Williams is the best!.......2007-02-01

Just saw Andy Williams at Branson this Christmas! Fabulous! What a great man and entertainer! We purchased this album because Andy sings the song "Words" at his concert but he no longer sells this album in Branson. Amazon is the only place to get this great album! Classic!

I just want to second the motion that reviewer Jennifer Leskala has written here on behalf of this album of truly wonderful music. I think it's Andy's best ever. And, I guess I have a soft spot in my heart for it because, I, too, witnessed the dance performance Natalia Melony gave to Andy's work of art. Perhaps you will be able to envision in your mind a beautiful long-haired blonde goddess dancing divinely, and twirling about to this beautiful music.....and I think you WILL see the "Vision" of her as you listen to these incredible pieces of music, done as only Andy Williams can do. I happen to believe this is Andy's best album. I can listen to it over and over, it is so beautiful, the words written for the classical melodies are perfection. I also love this album so much because I once saw a lessor-known entertainer by the name of, Natalia Melony, do an entire show of dancing to this entire album of songs. She was something to see. The combination of Andy's music with Natalia's beauty and incredible dancing, was breathtaking. It was so incredible it gave me chills up my spine. In case you are wondering who she is, you can join her fan club on Yahoo. Just punch in her name in the Clubs search box. To my amazement, I just found her name listed and joined her club! This album, recorded in London in 1984, is the finest Williams album of the past several years. The unique blending of classical melodies with lyrics makes this album unlike any other you will find. Andy truly did something magical here. With albums like this it is no wonder that Andy has been a world wide favorite for over forty years. This album is a MUST HAVE for any fan of ANDY WILLIAMS. Great music/stories as well as sound quality.......2004-02-11

The stories on CD are well written and very entertaining. I listened through all 3 CDs in one sitting when I got them! What's more, its sound quality is very good. I have other classical music CDs for kids and almost always I'm disappointed with the sound quality. (Violines sound like they have flu!)

This is a great buy for kids of all ages!!!

Fabulous for Kids.......2002-01-01

My two children, ages 7 and 5 received the Classical Kids Music Box, volumes 1 & 2 for Christmas this year and they can't seem to get enough of it! Each box contains 3 CD's, each on a different composer. Some are narrated by children and tell a story of the particular composer. Their popular compositions play in the background - this way the listener hears a partial biography of the composer as well as some music. Volume 1 contains stories of Handel, Beethoven and Vivaldi, and Volume 2 contains stories of Mozart, Bach and Tchaikovsky. I highly recommend this for all children who listed to music CD's, whether they're musically inclined or not.

Music Box Series.......2001-04-23

To say this series of music is "CAPTIVATING" is a total understatement. We have enjoyed these immensely for 2 years now and are hoping they will continue to release more composers. These well-told stories will hold the interest of everyone at any age while introducing them to these brilliant composers. My son is a 12 year old AAA travel hockey player and listens to these CD's while going to sleep, every night, without fail! Last week he asked if he could go online to find music and I thought he was looking for something along the line of latest hits. What a surprise to find him looking for more of the Music Box Series. These collections are as valuable to classical music as Harry Potter has become to children's reading! The story of Beethoven is especially poignant, when you realize what he accomplished with his gift in spite of his many challenges. I won't give away the plots of these wonderful stories told in this series, however I will say they will be listened to over and over again! And just like Harry Potter, you can't wait for the next one!
