There are but two kinds of people in the world: Those captivated by Baz Luhrmann's heady, postmodernist musical romp Moulin Rouge--and everybody else. Oddly, the film's initial soundtrack release may have been the project's most traditional element, marketing a slate of pop-star contributions that gave listeners a sometimes-skewed perspective on its true musical charms. This follow-up corrects much of that oversight, offering original film versions of "Sparkling Diamonds" (the lavish, Nicole Kidman-performed medley of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Material Girl"), Jim Broadbent's and Richard Roxburgh's loopy take on "Like a Virgin," as well as the lively Offenbach "Can Can" parody "The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular)." It also pays homage to the efforts of composer Craig Armstrong, whose quietly compelling underscore often binds the film's other far-flung musical influences together, be they stately orchestral readings of Elton John's "Your Song," a dramatic arrangement for Kidman and Ewan MacGregor's original film duet of "Come What May," or his dark, melodramatic take on Queen's "The Show Must Go On." The first Moulin Rouge soundtrack collection flaunted the film's bold, cross-genre ambitions; this one chronicles its nakedly emotional heart and soul. --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars Wow........2007-01-15

I must say...I was very glad when they released Part Two of the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. Don't get me wrong...the first part was great and all, but it was nothing spectacular. I was specifically looking for certain songs from the movie, and I was completely disappointed when they were on there. The release of a second soundtrack was, in my opinion, an absolute necessecity.

The highlights of the album are:

-Your Song (Instrumental)
-Sparkling Diamonds (original film version)
-Come What May (original film version)
-The Show Must Go On (original film version)

In my opinion, "The Show Must Go On" is the best song on this album...it was just so perfect for the ending of the movie, and I fell in love with the song. I was so disappointed that it wasn't on the first soundtrack. This song is part of what makes the second soundtrack so amazing...the song is fierce!!

If you love the movie and are a fan of the first soundtrack, then definitely, get this one. Many of the songs are versions taken straight from the movie - I recommend this with 4.5 stars...you will NOT be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars Love this CD.......2006-07-04

I love everything about this movie. The music is amazing and the instrumental songs on this CD are perfect. The first CD seemed to be more for a bunch of teenyboppers that wanted to hear the worst song on the whole CD (Lady Marmalade). If only they could combine the good songs from the first CD into this one.

I gave this 5 stars even though it's about a 4.5 because they split the soundtrack over two seperate cds.

5 out of 5 stars Could it get any better?.......2006-03-02

So i thought that the first instalment in these soundtracks was great (and it was) but the purchase of this sequel is a must if you want the full effect. With the original film versions of these songs, sung by the stars of the movie, you get the real feel that was the magnifisence of Moulin Rouge! Ewan McGregor is still by far the star, with his talent spilling over the dramatic lovesong 'Come What May' and 'Your Song', but Nicole's brilliant performance as Satine definatly takes front and center in 'One Day I'll Fly Away' and the film version of 'Sparkling Diamonds'...I have noticed that many complain about how the first soundtrack did not include the film version of this song...well you need this CD then...you will not be dissapointed. Other highlights include 'Like a Virgin' which is downright histarical, and the dark cover of 'the show must go on' which highlights the tragidy behind this tightly woven tale. THis is one must have soundtrack for your ever growing collection. A perfect companion to soundtrack number 1!

4 out of 5 stars Moulin rouge tried to fill up the GAP.......2006-02-12

This contains many great tracks missing from the original soundtrack, including Like A Virgin, Spectacular Spectacular and The Show Must Go On. I thought the inclusion of two instrumental versions of Your Song might be a bit redundant, but upon listening to them I really enjoyed them and they are quite different from one another. OK, it's not the best soundtrack that could have been put out. But it's pretty darn close. One thing that many DEDICATED fans of the movie (including myself) said is that the original movie soundtrack lacked the actual original movie score. There are 10+ songs in "Moulin Rouge" and many didn't make the final cut.

Baz did the smart thing, taking the audiences favorite music, a few gems from the first soundtrack such as "Come What May" and "Sparkling Diamonds" as well as a few new songs, like "Like a Virgin", "The Show Must Go On" and "The Pitch (Spectacular Spectacular)" and releasing the Original Film versions, allowing for the amazing vocal performances of the actors, including the fabulous Jim Broadbent, to be shine through. Also, released is background music "Meet Me in the Red Room", played during Christian's arrival in the elephant, marking the only non-actor/orchestral piece within the context of the CD.

One thing that this soundtrack included that I didn't expect was several orchestral pieces that were mostly used as background music throughout the film. "Your Song - Instrumental" (#1) has personally become a favorite and is constantly being repeated in the CD player. Also included is the ending credits music "Bolero" and the final piece ... known as "Ascension/Nature Boy". Also included is a remix of "One Day I'll Fly Away", and like all MR remixes, is a little tough to listen to at first but after repeat listening, it becomes music to your ears.

To all you MR diehards out there: this is a must. Not like I could stop you anyways. To others who haven't been introduced to the spectacular (spectacular) world of Moulin Rouge, this is a great introductory piece, especially side-by-side with the first soundtrack.

4 out of 5 stars ahahahahaha.......2006-02-01

Everything the other customers are saying is true: more music from the film, thankyouverymuch, not irritating pop conceits like the first. However, I would not have reviewed this album unless I found it absolutely necesary to point out that, in the climactic moments of track 5 "Come What May," Ewan MacGregor's voice is for some reason missing and replaced by a bizarre, operatic man's voice. It truly had me crying with laughter the first few times I heard it, and I wanted to share this wondrous discovery with the world.

New Orleans crooner Aaron Neville is known for many things: he first scored an R&B hit with "Tell it Like it Is" in the '60s; his duets with Linda Ronstadt have exposed him to wider audiences; and he sings with his siblings in the Neville Brothers. Produced and arranged by keyboardist Rob Mounsey, the material is culled from a variety of pop and jazz standards. With a rhythm section consisting of bassist Ron Carter, drummer Grady Tate, and guitarist Anthony Wilson, Neville puts his Crescent City charm on old favorites such as "Danny Boy" with guitarist Ry Cooder; "Since I Fell For You" with his saxophonist brother, Charles Neville; and a silken rendition of "Cry Me a River" with tenor sax titan Michael Brecker. Ms. Ronstadt guest stars on "Blame It on My Youth," with Roy Hargrove providing the creamy Clifford Brown-tones. Even as he sings Gershwin's "Summertime" as a reggae number, Aaron Neville's vivid voice echoes the eternal tones of the late Benny Carter's vibrato-rich alto sax sound. One question: Why wasn't this done before? --Eugene Holley, Jr.

4 out of 5 stars Get it - trust me!.......2004-10-04

I don't know who in the world would not give this a 5 star rating! This is a CD that you can play from start to finish without skipping past any track. "The Shadow Of Your Smile" is smooth and superb. Each song a jewel. Sleep enducing? I think not! Dream inspiring perhaps. Worth every red cent I paid for it. As for the reviewer's 10 year old daughter who commented "I love this music": Right on sister!

4 out of 5 stars Good Album.......2004-06-07

This is a great album! It shows Aaron Neville at his best with his ultra unique sound. He makes the jazz standards that he sings magical. He is a great artist. I highly recommend this album. 4 stars.

2 out of 5 stars I must be the minority..........2004-03-18

First off, Aaron Neville has a beautiful voice, so he gets points for having such a unique voice.

However, I found nearly all of this album "Nature Boy" to be way too slow. This is almost sleep-inducing music.

I've heard a lot of these standards before and they are not usually done this slow. So I would be listening to a familiar song, waiting for it to pick up anytime now, but it never did.

+'s Neville's voice, the selection of familiar songs, Roy Hargrove sounds great as a guest on trumpet/flugelhorn

-'s The whole pace of the album. Just generally too s-l-o-w.

Overall, I'll have to disagree with the majority and say this one's not worth the money.

2 out of 5 stars Very Disapointing.......2004-02-27

Over the years, I have been a great fan of Aaron Neville, but I cannot recommend this CD. Sure there are some highlights (Summertime and The Shadow Of Your Smile), but most of the Cd seems to lack emotion.
This Cd is not in the same league as Grand Tour or Tattoed Heart.

5 out of 5 stars LIGHT, EASY LISTENING,VERY ROMANTIC WELL DONE!.......2004-02-25

THIS CD IS GREAT IT CAPTURES MR. NEVEILLE'S BEAUTUL VOICE IN SOME MANY WAYS HE'S DOING CLASSIC SONGS IN WHICH PATTI LABELLE NEEDS TO DO A PROJECT LIKE THIS(SMILE) OR ARETHA FRANKLIN (GRAMMY 2004 WINNER SMILE) BACK TO AARON THOUGH THS CD SHOULD BE NOMINATED NEXT YEAR FOR A GRAMMY IN WHAT CATEGORY WHO KNOWS MAYBE JAZZ VOCAL PERFORMANCE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT BUT THIS CD NEEDS TO RECOGNIZED. 5 out of 5 stars Better than the first? Yes it is!.......2007-05-29

The debut gave us O.P.P and it was a hit, but this CD gave us a better hit with Hip Hop Hooray. The single was one of the reasons i'd have to say that this CD is better than the first. Trench, Vinnie, and Kay Gee stepped up their game with this one. From the first song 19 Naughty III to Ready For Them (feat. Heavy D) to Hot Potato (feat. Freddy Fox) to Sleepwalking II, their isn't a weak song on the CD. This is a must for the collection cause this one goes hard!

3 out of 5 stars Their best Work.......2007-04-10

Like De la, Das EFX, and a tribe call quest, naughty by nature's sophomore CD, to my mind, was way superior to their debut. Yes I know that that debut included 'O.P.P' but as an album it's not one that i kept in heavy rotation. But listening to this CD reminds me of the days when I would LOVED Hip hop. Now I would never say that Treach was in my top tem MC's of all time, and, even after all this time I couldn't quote you a memorable line from any of his rhymes, but he has a nice flow that accompanies the joints on this CD( Vin Rock would come in every now & then, more so on this CD, similar, but to a lesser effect than Phife Dawg on tribe's excellent 'Low End Theory CD') Kay Gee's production is a mixture of Horns breaks, and piano samples, that still sound fresh. Tracks I dig are: Hip Hop Horary (great video by Spike Lee) it's on (with a great horn break) and Hot Potato, with an excellent cameo by Mr. Bumpy Knuckles himself, Freddie Foxxx. These toons standout on a good CD.

Despite an excellent debut album, Naughty by Nature was pegged as a one-hit wonder by some observers -- after all, they'd never duplicate the inescapably catchy "O.P.P.," would they? 19 Naughty III's lead single, "Hip Hop Hooray," proved that they could, and the album confirmed that Naughty by Nature were indeed highly underrated in terms of consistency. It's a shade less consistent than the debut, but has all the same strengths: head-nodding beats, Treach's bouncy flow, and a difficult balance between street attitude and accessibility. Naughty by Nature clearly comes from the streets, and have all the aggression of the streets, but they don't glamorize the streets; sure, they'll take care of themselves in a harsh environment, but ultimately they prefer to steer clear of trouble, cops, and jail. It's a refreshingly grounded and realistic perspective, best heard on "Daddy Was a Street Corner," "The Hood Comes First," and "The Only Ones." There are also energized guest appearances from Heavy D ("Ready for Dem") and Queen Latifah ("Sleeping on Jersey"). Kay Gee again shows himself a sorely underappreciated producer, with one foot in the clubs and the other one on the street corner, and that's true of the group as a whole. A few slower moments don't prevent 19 Naughty III from ranking as Naughty by Nature's second straight triumph.

5 out of 5 stars Nasty.......2005-08-05

Treach kills it with every flow he spits. He has such a superb style it never gets old. KG on the boards and VIN ROC helpin on the raps, this was on of their best efforts for sure.

If any rappers deserve to be called poets, Treach and Vinnie of Naughty By Nature do. They fire off line after line chock-full of internal rhymes and alliterations, conjure detailed scenes, drop allusions, and display a reassuring knowledge of the world beyond hip-hop. If any poets deserve to be called rap stars it's this powerful trio (with DJ Kay Gee) from East Orange, New Jersey. On their third album, 1995's Poverty's Paradise, Naughty strikes up enough hard-edged partying in their smart lyrics and sharp beats to keep on top of the hip-hop core, while a handful of radio-ready tracks throw them into wider pastures just to remind everyone else they're also making marks on the pop charts. --Roni Sarig

5 out of 5 stars There Is No Such Thing As A 3rd Times A Charm...............2006-01-30

POVERTY'S PARADISE won a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "Feel Me Flow" was nominated for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group. East Orange, New Jersey's finest are back at it, destined to regain platinum status with their third effort, POVERTY'S PARADISE. Already responsible for such hip-hop classics as "O.P.P.," "Uptown Anthem" and "Hip-Hop Hooray," Naughty By Nature comes packed with some impressive attributes: Treach and Vinnie's unique lyrical styles, Kay Gee's distinct rhythmic beats, and a widespread appeal that is due largely to their ultra-catchy choruses and general pop sense. Each Naughty By Nature release inevitably delivers the hip-hop anthem of the year (see previous paragraph for examples), and on POVERTY'S PARADISE that distinction falls to "Craziest." Regularly leaving listeners in the dust, Treach remains one of the strongest vocalists in rap music on the strength of his tongue-twisting rhymes: "Wasn't driving too fast/I was flying too low/You think I'm rocking too quick/I think you listen to slow." And to all those who thought he may have been the weak part of the NBN equation, Vinnie's added flavor on "Clap Yo Hands" proves his skills to be quite worthy. DJ/producer extraodinaire Kay Gee is also in fine form, funking up "Sunshine" with a well-known Roy Ayers sample. But as the title implies, POVERTY'S PARADISE is not all about keeping the party going, and "Chain Remains," a laid-back groove that explores the misfortunes of a growing, incarcerated population, is a needed dose of reality. Filled with ghetto tales and guest appearances from fellow members of the Double I family (Rottin Razkals, Road Dawgs and others), the much anticipated release fulfills Naughty By Nature's dream of turning their poverty into paradise.

3 out of 5 stars Ok.......2005-11-26

I am a Naughty fan and I like this CD but you cant stay on top forever and this Cd I beleive is when they started going down but I love the song Feel me flow and Craziest If you love Naught this is a must buy!!!

4 out of 5 stars Naughty by Nature- Poverty's Paradise.......2003-07-13

Naughty by Nature's (Treach, Vinnie, Kay Gee) third album "Poverty's Paradise" (1995) is an banging underated release that still vibes very well many years later. Executive production comes from Naughty by Nature, Sha-Kim & Queen Latifah. Guest appearances come from Road Dawgs, Cruddy Click, Rottin Razkalz, Chriss Webber, Gordon Chambers. On the insert to the cd there is a comment I like from Treach which runs as "You could Leave the Ghetto, But the Ghetto Ain't Gonna Leave You. It's in you forever, If you keep in touch". The albums title track, is a one minute track which has Naughty by Nature reminding there fans that they will always remember there roots, and stay grounded, and that they will represent for those who dont get a voice out there. First tracks that standout for me are upbeat party tracks like "Clap Yo Hands" & "It's Workin" feat. Rottin Razkalz tracks which have nice choruses and are entertaining. On "Chain Remain" NBN goes deeper showing there social consciousness, talking about incarceration, and dropping lines like "Jails aint nothing but the slave day sequel". The lighter "Feel Me Flow" follows, a very nice laid back party track. "Craziest" has NBN showing love to people from city's from NJ to Boston. Another track follows in "Sunshine" which has an addictive beat, and is a track about showing love to the shortys, and getting laid. "World Goes Round" is a track about the youth, cops, media, and the streets. Naughty by Nature shows there harder side on "Klickow-Klickow" feat. Rottin Razkals, Cruddy Click, Road Dawgz while paying some respect to the oldschool. The albums longest track is the seven minute "Shout Out" feat. R&B singer Gordon Chambers a track by Naughty by Nature in which they thank the radio programmers, video shows, DJ and fans that supported there music and helped them make it, while also thanking individuals like Funkmaster Flex, DJ Premier, and many many more. I like this, never have seen a track where a group shows so much love to those who helped them make it and to other artists, while getting specific and being genuine. Next comes outro, which you would think would be closer, cept it isnt as the hardcore "Connections" closes the album off well. "Poverty's Paradise" has music to party to, music that makes you think, and music that goes deeper then the average. Beats, production and lyrics are all solid making this an album to have if you like Naughty by Nature like I do.

5 out of 5 stars Slept on by everyone.......2003-04-27

This is a high quality rap record full of banging beats and incredible rapping. If you don't own it you are missing out on some great hip hop.

5 out of 5 stars Well-rounded?.......1999-07-25

Albeit this is the only Naughty by Nature album with which I'm familiar, I found it one of the most enjoyable hip-hop albums I've encountered. The beats are incredible, enjoyable, but what distinguishes this cd from typical party music are the amazing lyrical acrobatics. I fully agree with the Amazon review: Treach and VinRock, beyond their impressive lyrical content and manipulation of phrases, enhance their poetics by deftly manipulating the language's sounds and accents, resulting in a flow in the truest sense of the word. Though the content varies from the social/political (World Goes Round, in my opinion the strongest all-round track, intelligent and bumping) to sexual (Sunshine) to classic we're-the-baddest-mcs (Clap Your Hands), their lyrical craft never fails. If anything, the strongest display of their lyrical abilities is Feel Me Flow, also their most light-hearted, upbeat, beach-rolling track.

I never expected to even own this album, but it's now become a staple in my collection.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Solo Debut.......2006-09-12

Lindemann's musicality, technique, and showmanship is evident
here on a very high level. Of particular interest is
his very effective use of plunger to subtly modify his sound.
The Gershwin preludes are especially entertaining. He uses
the extreme high high register a bit more frequently than
I would wish, but with high range this strong, it's easy to
see why he would want to use it.

This is, overall, extremely musical playing. Minor quibbles
can be made about intonation in some spots, but the listener
will forgive these when the playing is so infectious and
the tone so fine. I found myself laughing on occasion because
I was having so much fun listening to what the artist was doing
with these pieces. It is apparent that Lindemann and his fine
accompanists were having a great time with this music. Buy this
disc and you will too.

5 out of 5 stars First rate album!.......2006-03-06

Jens Lindemann really makes a name for himself with this album. Anyone who enjoys trumpet music will probably enjoy this. Jens is a true master at mixing jazz, pop and classical styles seamlessly. This album has a good mix of classical and jazz hits to suit anyone's taste. After first hearing Jens' beautiful tone when he played with the Canadian Brass, I was eagerly awaiting his first solo album. I had no idea his talent was so immense until I heard some of the songs on this album. His arrangement of Chopin's Etude No. 2 requires circular breathing for the entire piece. I think his variations on Amazing Grace are the best I've ever heard. There is even some insanely high stuff for those of you who like a little squealing now and then! ;)

5 out of 5 stars Phenomenal Player!.......2005-12-01

Jens is one of the few trumpet players out there that can move with me a single note. There are some great tracks on this CD that showcase his technical brilliance, but most of the tracks show off his lyrical ability, especially the first track. My only personal complaint was with the choice of some of the 'pop' tracks - they just aren't really my kind of music, but Jens plays everything with wonderful clarity and fluidity (as expected).

5 out of 5 stars Paint The Tree Green.......2004-08-03

I was introduced to this album a few years ago by a friend who was a big fan. I had only known his work via School of Fish's two albums, but lost interest with Human Cannonball's lackluster performance. Still the singing and songwriting were the main attraction and I figured I might as well give him another try, albeit as a solo artist. The only disappoinment that I found was in his untimely passing. Sad as that is it shouldn't be a focal point or lend to a mystique of the tragic young artist.

These are songs stripped down to the bone (with Clayton-Felt playing all instruments, not simultaneously mind you) and yet they sound like a fully-produced, mainstream production. They are rich in melody (which seems a lost art in the faux-punk revival era) and brilliantly landscaped lyrics of loss and high spirituality. That might sound like the perfect recipe for a sap-pop album, but it is risque enough to be edgy and alternative and folksy and popish at the same time.

Highlights are PAINT THE TREE GREEN, WINDOW, SOON ENOUGH and TRUMPET. That's not to say that three or four other songs like DOUBT, HELPLESS and WAITING aren't higher strata efforts, it's just that the former are my favorites. PAINT THE TREE GREEN and DOUBT are both moody and slow, but fit well in the scheme of songs about not filling well the mold of others' expectations. They are something you might hear in a smoky bar being played before twenty oblivious drunks, with only one silent admirer in a corner taking in the vibrant urgency and intimacy of the songs. WINDOW, a quirky funk-pop sounding song is probably the most upbeat and thus an ideal opener. Along with TRUMPET it is the positive bookend of an album rife in doubt and self-trepidation, but nonetheless beautiful. SOON ENOUGH is the first in a line of despairing, wretching lyrics that shows Clayton-Felt is just as human as any of us despite his star. Through it all the songs remain uplifting in the face of the persistant, down-cast shadow of pursuit and unmet expectation. Maybe it's the work of a love-sick puppy stuck out in the cold wailing to the unresponsive wind, but it sure feels more like singing than crying to me. But what do I know?

3 out of 5 stars Uninteresting Nature Boy.......2002-04-21

It's tragic that the guy is dead, but it doesn't make his music any more interesting.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing, powerful, funky!.......2001-09-08

Do NOT go into this amazing album expecting School of Fish! I was lucky enough to experience Josh (rest his early-departed soul) live as an opener for Tori Amos, where he and his guitars alone battled against the audience like an orchestra.... for THAT, pick up his live album. For THIS... expect studio work and grooves, less fuzzy and hardcore than School of Fish, more lighthearted, more from the delicate, smiling soul. It is indeed a funky album, heavy in clear guitars, a far degree from the power-alternative of SOF.
Incredibly spiffy, and keep an eye out for his long-awaited post-mortem album, Spirit Touches Ground, to be released soon!

5 out of 5 stars One of the most under-rated albums ever made.......1999-07-02

On the first listen I was expecting School of Fish and was initially disappointed not to get it. A few listening sessions later I got it. Three years later this album is still in heavy rotation on the CD player and seems to keep getting better and better.

5 out of 5 stars walking the line of deep groove and great song writing.......1999-03-07

This Cd is the start of something great. Josh beautifully mixes timeless song writing, heartfelt melody, and a deep funky groove in a way that is a breath of fresh air in what has become a very predictable musical world, created by the industry and not the artists. This Cd is taking on a forgoten art, the art of blending white and black music in a way that makes his music both hard to define and a joy to hear. I felt invited in from the start of this record and uplifted by it's finish . I love this Cd and believe that it's the first steps on the moon of an artist who will soon have all of us up there with him.

5 out of 5 stars That heat!.......2006-10-18

Yo, I am bumping this right now. "One Mo' Time" is cold-blooded! Latif can rhyme and I am happy to have found out about her when she was rockin' the mic! The album cover makes this look like some corny old-school stuff, but it's really just Queen Latifah runnin' through solid beats like WHOA. Buy this for a penny and shipping and thank me later.

4 out of 5 stars The First Two CDs I Ever Bought [Part 1 of 2] {4 Stars}.......2006-07-01

Queen Latifah could be considered a prototype because of the direction her career has gone. Not only did she have skills, but she had the business end taken care of (Flava Unit management, records, & production company) and even turned into one heck of an actress. She even executive produced this album and Naughty's debut. The sister was (and still is) on a roll. Nature Of A Sista is the first CD I ever bought (along with Naughty By Nature's self titled debut). Dana Owens shows her versatility on this album. Tracks like "Fly Girl", "How Do I Love Thee", and "One Mo' Time" show that Latifah can blend all kinds of different sounds. Production is handled by Naughty By Nature, K-Cut (Main Source), Luis "Louie Louie" Vega, Soulshock & CutFather (Soulpower), Nevelle Hodge, and Latifah herself. House, jazz, R&B, rap.....Latifah covers plenty of bases without damaging her credibility. The girl is simply too talented to be restrained by genres.

As far as flaws, there really aren't that many to be found. There may be one too many r&b tracks on this album for the typical rap fan. It's done very well though, so I can't really say it's a bad thing. There are some tracks that could fall under skip material like "Bad As A Mutha", "If You Don't Know", and "Sexy Fancy". The rest of the album is great.

Nature Of A Sista' isn't Latifah's best album (that distinction belongs to the Black Reign LP), but this is still an excellent listen. Latifah doesn't get the props that she truly deserves for what she's done for females in the rap game. If you want to hear Latifah as she started to hit her stride, then pick this album up. There are a variety of sounds to be found here and Latifah easily masters each and every one of them. Two thumbs way up.

Standout Tracks: Nature Of A Sista, Love Again, How Do I Love Thee, One Mo' Time (My Favorite), Fly Girl, Latifah's Had It Up To Here, That's The Way We Flow feat. Safari Sister Swatch, and Give Me Your Love

5 out of 5 stars This is the one.......2005-05-24

All her other albums are good, but this is the one for me. She threw her best combinations up in this joint. She shows you her range w/this one from the rap to the jazz piece at the end. If you are a true fan, then you've gotta own this one.

5 out of 5 stars queen l-a-t-i-f-a-h in command.......2004-04-04

if youre lookin for a good queen latifah cd, this is the one to get. the lyrics are creative and concious, and the beats are off the hook. its definately a cd to make you feel good. this is why queen latifah is one of the best rappers/singers/actors/revolutionaries/people out there.

5 out of 5 stars All Hail The Queen!.......2000-09-19

Dana Owens kicks out a collage of beats ranging from funk to soul in this, argueably her best work. From the syrupy track "How Do I Love Thee", to the pro-female sexuality commentary "Fly Girl", this whole CD cranks it out, which is rare.

Though they were ostensibly a part of the latter-day extended Native Tongues posse (a loose association of groups that involved De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, the Jungle Brothers, and Queen Latifah), Naughty by Nature always were a square peg for that round hole. Looking back on NBN's career on the eve of the release of Nature's Finest, it makes more sense to see them as harbingers of a new era of hip-hop: their mix of hardcore posing (lead MC Treach waved a machete around onstage) and pop hooks foreshadowed the rise of Puff Daddy and Jay-Z. They had only two bona fide hits--"O.P.P." and "Hip Hop Hooray," both of which were huge--and the rest of the 17 tracks here follow much the same formula, matching a pop-hook backing track with a big chorus. If there were truth in advertising, Nature's Finest would have been released as a single, but fans may enjoy having all these songs together on one collection. --Bucky Wunderlick

I like almost all of these songs. Get This!!!!!!!!

3 out of 5 stars worth it for the hits.......2004-08-03

i bought this because two of my favorite three rap songs ever were naughty by nature songs, the undeniable anthems "hip hop hooray" and "o.p.p." they also had the lesser hit "everything's gonna be alright" which included the immortal (and hard-to-argue) line, "if you ain't nevah BEEN to tha ghetto, don't evah COME to tha ghetto, 'cuz you wouldn't underSTAND the ghetto." and plus, i just need more quality rap music (without having too much, mind you). i like these guys, what they stood for: you got your streetwise gangsta-element, and your catchy, danceable, pop grooves in one package. no more pretending to like NWA, hooray! sadly, only about half of this greatest hits package is worth listening to, but then again, that's a pretty damn fine ratio for a best-of compilation in this genre.

3 out of 5 stars Needs Some Work.......2002-06-23

This album wasn't exactly packed with what I consider Naughty By Nature's greatest hits, but it wasn't all too bad. I picked it up figuring that it would be packed with hits from their previous albums, but was somewhat dissapointed once I started listening to it. Overall I'd say that it wasn't too bad, but unless you're a die-hard N.B.N fan, I'd suggest you stick to IICons or one of their better albums.

4 out of 5 stars BUY THIS ALBUM!.......2000-03-20

This is the only NBN album you will ever need 2 have! It has all the classics: Hip Hop Hooray, OPP, Feel Me Flow, Clap Yo Hands, and more! Buy it if U R a true hip-hop fan!

3 out of 5 stars all that you will ever need by nbn.......2000-01-23

it seems that every summer that naughty has a catchy song and then disappears.and this disc sums up their careers perfectly.catchy and something to bounce to like hip hop hooray, opp&feel me flow but nothing that is classic or essential still give them credit for surviving the rap game for a solid decade.
