Toneladas de poesia explosiva guardadas a alta presion en un CD..........2007-06-08

Este es uno de los CDs mas potentes que he escuchado en cuanto la mezcla de musica (guitarras estridentes y algunas baladas rock), fuerza de interpretacion y letras poeticas y a la vez oscuras. Creo que ninguna cancion esta de mas y en general todas son muy, pero muy buenas (mis favoritas: Vagabundo, Penelope, Madre Tierra, Llanto Subterraneo, Flor del Frio, etc...). Ojo: sin afan de demeritar el trabajo de Draco, algunas de las letras no son de su autoria, por lo menos un par de ellas estan basadas en poemas de Jaime Sabines y creo que algunas mas en letras de otros poetas. En mi opinion esto no demerita este excelente trabajo producido por nada menos que Phil Manzanera y concretado por la acertada mano del buen maestro Robi "Draco" Rosa. Muy, muy recomendable.

Perfecto de principio a fin........2007-05-18

Para mi, este es el mejor CD de Robi y creo que pocas personas me argumentarían esto. El segundo mejor, en mi opinión, es Frío.

Pero yo no sé que es lo que esta pasando con los otros CDs de el. O soy yo el que he cambiado de gustos, o a Robi se le ha ido la musa. Acabo de ver y escuchar su video promocional "Horizonte" y no me gustó. Tampoco me gustó Mad Love, ni sus canciones en Inglés.

Las letras de sus últimas canciones no son buenas. Por que? Por que las letras de una canción no deben seguir el mismo orden gramatical de una narración, como en un cuento. Deben ser mas como la poesía, que combina palabras de tal manera que no se usarian en una conversación o narración pero que en el contexto de la poesía (o canción) nos hacen sentir cosas.

Las letras de muchas de las canciones de Vagabundo son incomprensibles pero no importa. Nos hacen sentir a pesar de eso. O quizas, precisamente por eso.

La obra maestra de Robi..........2006-11-14

Este cd es la joya en la discografia de Robi. tiene ingenio, creatividad, poesia, energia... en fin, si estas buscando algun pop-rock comercial top 40, definitivamente este NO es para ti, pero si buscas calidad y arte musical, esta es tu eleccion.

Not what I was specting.......2006-11-10

I saw Draco on a tv show and I liked the song he played so I read some reviews looking for a CD and I ended up ordering Vagabundo. I did not like any of the songs from that CD. His lirics and music are not that great.

The Best Album of the 90's Rock en Español Revival.......2005-04-23

That's basically what this album is. In my opinion, it is also the best album of any genre I've ever owned/heard. During the 90's, no 'rock-en-espaol' band came close to successfully achieving the sound quality of the 'gringo' alternative bands of the day they were trying to copy & blend with their latino roots. Draco did with this album and it tops my all-time favorites list, above such classics as Alice in Chains' 'Dirt', Pearl Jam's 'Vs.' & Kyuss' 'Welcome to Sky Valley'. I make mention of these albums because I think anyone who appreciates any or all of them will love this album (pick it up!). Perfect production work by Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music, Pink Floyd) and Robi. Other 'rock-en-espaol' albums worthy of mention:

* Aterciopelados - El Dorado

Chico, formerly of 'The Gypsie Kings' has outdone himself. This new fusion of great great muscianship and composition on all pices of this album make this one of the albums your collection cannot be without: like Bridge over Troubled waters, Heart's 1st album, etc....this one has it all and varries.

Vagabundo, nada mas!.......2006-06-14

I purchased this CD after hearing the "Vagabundo" and "El Verano" tracks online and realized I'd never heard anything quite like it! The tracks on this well-made album basically fall into two categories: energetic, rhythmic and catchy or smooth, thoughtful ballads. "Marina" is a great remake of a classic, while "Patio" and "El Ritmo Gitano" will get your spirits soaring! Far and away, "El Verano" is the most beautiful, varied and uplifting on the album, which is quite an accomplishment.

Magnificent.......2001-09-24

The best cut on this CD is "Christo". This particular cut has been played in NYC dance studios as a favorite flamenco piece to dance to. It is my favorite and there is nothing else like it.

This is great music, even if you don't understand Spanish! The song "Cristo" is very moving and evocative. The artists have great natural, earthy voices that are perfect with the style of music, guitars, and percussion. I sincerely hope they have another album on its way!

Chico and the Gypsies have far surpassed any of the other artists that I have heard in this category. This is an awesome tape. The song entitled "Cristo" is so provocative, that I could listen to it over and over and over again.

I agree with the previous reviewer. This group sounds exactly like Gypsy Kings only better. There are several very upbeat songs like the title song Vagabundo, El Ritmo Gitano, Marina that will have you dancing and others so hauntingly beautiful, like Tu Dueno and Christo, they will touch your soul. Gypsy Kings have not reached this level of great music since their first hit Bombaleo.

Really nice album! Nice sound!.......2005-01-05

It's very Ney Matogrosso, a brazilian singer with a great background, of songs and interpretation. Every track is carefully worked, taking out the maximum power of sound and expression. At the sametime you can trip around differents brazilians rythms, Baiao, Samba, pop. The participation of Pedro is a very important point in this album. He sings in some tracks but not in all, and in none of the tracks he is in solo. Every song is a result of a research and we feel it pleases the singer. I love the track called O Mundo, from the brazilian band called Karnak. Very good album. But I don't reccomend if it's the first you are listening Ney Matogrosso. In this case buy one of the others albums, like a Best of. If you know his work, and know the brazilian music go on. You'll be pleased.
