Their formula is simple enough--equal parts teenage humor and brattiness combined with infectious guitar hooks that just beg to be cranked up on the stereo. But with Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, the guys in Blink 182 may have delivered their best album to date, a punk-pop fusion that's so consistent you'll wonder which of the 13 tracks will become radio hits (any has the chance, really). Yes, as with Dude Ranch and Enema of the State, the songs here revolve around falling in love ("The Rock Show," "First Date"), falling out of love ("Online Songs," "Happy Holidays, You Bastard"), and plenty of other ways to kill time while away from school ("Reckless Abandon"). And yes, these guitar-driven songs all pretty much sound the same, but Take Off never gets boring. There's too much nervous energy here, too many slight variations in the arrangements, and too many hilarious lyrics that you won't want to miss. Parents may remember that the Buzzcocks used this same shtick in the late '70s, older siblings may remember that Green Day did it well not so many years ago, but Blink fans know that their band is more clever than anyone else playing today. The bonus tracks are throwaways, but that's OK--the threesome have given us plenty to bop our heads to here. --Jason VerlindeCustomer Reviews:

Information for the haters........2007-05-02
Blink never wanted to be taken seriously as a band.
They wholeheartedly intended to be a joke, an immature band.
You can't hold their purpose against them.
And as for saying they are not punk.
Blink 182 didn't christen themselves as punk.
It was the stupid fans who did that.
Anyone who knows music knows that real punk existed in the 60's, the dawning of the Punk Movement.
Don't blame that on the band either.
We all know that Tom Delonge cannot play the guitar.
But you have to admit that Mark is a pretty decent bassist.
And to say that Travis Barker is a mediocre drummer, is lying through your teeth.
You are supposed to take Blink's music for what it is.
It is supposed to be taking light-heartedly.
You are supposed to laugh at the sheer mediocrity of it.
If you can't be immature enough for a few seconds to embrace that reaction, then it is yout own fault and not the band's.
Great CD.......2007-04-21
Anthem Part 2: Love the drum line. Personally i prefer Enema's Anthem part one, but I still love this song. 10/10
Online Songs: short and sweet. very fast 8/10
First Date: This got overplayed unfortunately, and it got tiring. I still love the song though. 8.5/10
Happy Holidays: Hilarious song...not surprisingly, my parents abhor it.
Story...: Love LOve LOOVE this song...second favorite on the cd. 10.5/10
Rock Show: Good song...one of the less interesting. 8/10
Kids: Powerful guitars/lyrics/vocals. Very emotional song. 8.5/10
Rollercoaster: One of the best Travis Barker lines on the cd. 9/10
Reckless Abandon: FUNNY SONG...one of my favorites! 10/10
Everytime: Good drumming from Travis. 9/10
Give Me One Good Reason: I love this song the most on this cd! I love the lyrics, the guitar, the drumming, the vocals...EVERYTHING FLOWS! 15/10
Shut Up- ANGRY song...Sounds a lot like roller coaster actually. 8/10
Please Take Me Home: Good closer. 9/10
To the reviewer a couple reviws below me: We're not trying to bash/dehumanize you, we're just giving you our opinions. But you showed no class in the way you expressed your opinion. It's kinda funny that you call blink "whiny" and "immature" when really, you are much worse.
Oh and NEVER compare blink-182 to K-Fed, because not only do you sound immature, you sound pretty freakin' stupid. And you owe Tammy Peterson an apology for your little 'note' there. SO uncalled for.
Why the hate?.......2007-03-14
A Kid's Review
I love this CD and I wish Blink hadn't have split up. I'll start by saying I don't think Tom is the best singer in the world (the studio makes him sound good, but live he's pretty awful), nor do I think he's a particularly talented guitarist. Now with that said, I will say I thoroughly enjoyed this record. Best songs include Anthem Pt. 2, First Date, Rock Show, Stay Together For The Kids, Story Of A Lonely Guy, and What Went Wrong. You can't compare Mark, Tom, and Travis's latest efforts to Blink... they've both gone in different directions. However, I will say that I would chose Blink over +44 or AVA anyday.
I do recommend this CD to people who LIKE this kind of music. I really get fed up of people reviewing a CD of a pop-punk band, clearly stating that it is is a load of rubbish, and then telling people to go and listen to Bon Jovi instead... not that I have anything against Bon Jovi.
Grow Up........2007-02-01
My goodness. I can't believe this band was as popular as they were. They weren't good whatsoever. I am also a little annoyed by the people who like to bash and dehumanize reviewers who give this album 1 star. It's called expressing your opinion, [...]. As for "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" it is lame. Have you even heard the lead singers, especially Tom. Good lord, I have never heard such whining and more annoying voice in my life. He can't sing, IMO. Also, how 'bout the guitar riffs? All it is is a bunch of power chords. It sounds like they use the same chords for almost every song on here. Not to mention, the lyrics. These lyrics are incredibly juvenile and immature. Seriously, "Happy Holidays". Hey man, these lyrics are so bad their not even close to shocking (I assume that's why they wrote it).
It is sickening to think that a band like this one and Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Fall-Out Boy, Paris Hilton, K-fed, etc. enjoy more success and fortune than most actually talented people will ever receive in a lifetime.
Overall, I hated this album and the band; 0 stars. I don't recommend this album to anybody who appreciates good music. Also, a little note to Ms. Tammy Peterson. I have an opinion just like anyone else. You can't stand that somebody actually doesn't like the bands you like. My advice is keep your opinions to yourself if you can't say anything better than that. You talk about constructive criticism and respectful opinions, yet look at your comment. You f***in' hypocrite. Take your "respect" and shove it up your a.. You f***ing sellout. F*** You.

Amazon.com essential recording
There are many, many Andrew Lloyd Webber albums out there, including cut-and-paste compilations and songbooks from individual artists, most notably Sarah Brightman, Michael Crawford, and even Jose Carreras. The Premiere Collection is probably as authentic as you can get in a hits album, however. In addition to the most popular selections from the original casts of Evita, Cats, and Jesus Christ Superstar, the 57-minute album includes two selections from Tell Me on a Sunday (also recorded by Bernadette Peters as Song and Dance), the title tune from Starlight Express, the "Pie Jesu" from the Requiem, and a snippet from the Paganini Variations, thereby allowing you to hear the good stuff without having to spring for the complete albums. Note that the three selections from Phantom of the Opera are the 1986 pop singles instead of the cast recordings, meaning Steve Harley rather than Crawford sings with Brightman on the title tune and Cliff Richard subs for Steve Barton on "All I Ask of You." (Crawford does sing "The Music of the Night," of course.) This 1989 compilation was too early for Aspects of Love or Sunset Boulevard, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is ignored, but these omissions are rectified in the follow-up album The Premiere Collection Encore, and the American-slanted version, The Very Best of Andrew Lloyd Webber: The Broadway Collection. --David HoriuchiCustomer Reviews:

Life and Death On The Great White Way.......2007-06-24
Joe Gideon (Roy Scheider) is a celebrated stage and film director famous for creating dance numbers with a super sexy style--and truly chaotic professional and personal life. Even as he edits a film he has recently directed, he begins rehearsals for a new Broadway show. Even as he duels with his acidic show-biz ex-wife over the needs of their daughter, he cheats on his girl friend with any lovely chorus girl who wants to fall across his bed. He goes from crisis to crisis in a round of late nights fueled by nicotine, caffine, alcohol, and drugs--and he loves every ego-gratifying moment of it. What he does not love is the heart attack he has in the middle of it all.
What divides viewers is not so much the plot as the overall style of the film. Like Joe Gideon, Bob Fosse (1927-1987) was most famous for his musicals, which were often akin to beautiful but distinctly dark hallucinations of super-stylized motion showing lots of skin. With ALL THAT JAZZ, Fosse takes his unique, highly surrealistic musical style and combines it with the similarly surrealistic approach of such master directors as Fellini. The result is a film that shifts between past, present, and future with glittering musical numbers that leap from the mind of Gideon himself to make wry comment on his egocentric madness--and in which beautiful show girls become the personification of death.
As Joe Gideon, Roy Scheider (perhaps best known for his tough-cop role in THE FRENCH CONNECTION) truly gives the performance of his career; he is amazing in the role of the driven, egocentric director/choreographer who will stop at nothing to pursue his desires, professional or otherwise. The film also gives us two performers who rarely appear on screen: Leland Palmer as Gideon's ex-wife Audrey Paris (a role based on Gwen Verdon) and Ann Rhineking as Gideon's long-suffering dancer-girlfried Kate Jagger (a role, ironically, based on herself.) Both prove extremely memorable--as does Ben Vereen, a performer I do not usually like, appearing here in as the emcee of Gideon's final and most memorable hallucination.
The cinematography by Giuseppe Rotunno is sharp, clean, disquieting, and manages to convey the New York of the late 1970s in remarkable detail; the editing by Alan Heim (who also worked on such memorable films as NETWORK and STAR 80) is also memorable. Indeed, be it lighting, costumes, casting, or overall art design it is virtually impossible to fault the film at any level. Even so--ALL THAT JAZZ remains as likely to divide viewers today as it did in 1979. Movie musicals have changed a great deal over the past decade or so, but ALL THAT JAZZ remains a unique offering. You either get it or you don't; you either like it or you hate it.
There are at least two DVDs on the market. One is a no-frills edition with a good transfer; the other offers several bells and whistles that fans of the film will enjoy. Recommended in either version.

Pure Gershwin was Michael Feinstein's first album, and it remains one of his best. It may not have the production values of his later Gershwin tributes, Nice Work if You Can Get It (1996) and Michael & George (1998), but it simply and directly presents Feinstein in his piano-bar days, singing to his own tasteful accompaniments with occasional contributions from bass and drums and a second piano. Establishing the patterns for his later albums, he sings unjustly neglected verses to familiar songs, uncovers some never-before-recorded gems ("The World Is Mine," "What Causes That"), and provides song-by-song notes. A Wonderful CD.......2005-05-19

Disappointed.......2003-04-10
I was extremely disappointed. Feinstein seems to suck the life out of Gershwin's compositions, a feat I would have previously thought impossible. Though I concede that vocalists are free to reinterpret songs (many to a great success, as in Louis Armstrong's and Ella Fitzgerals's enjoyable versions of Gershwin), I think Feinstein's lazy tempos "loungy" voice make the tracks on this album boring and annoying.
I have loved to listen to and sing these songs my entire life. I just wanted to warn listeners who perhaps, like myself, enjoy George Gershwin's music for its beautiful clarity and energy (as easily experienced through Gershwin's own recordings, early interpretations by artists such as the Astaires, and even recent broadway "Crazy For You") that they will not experience any feeling of the sort from Michael Feinstein.
Amidst all the gushing that has recently been done over him, I found Michael Feinstein to have attempted to murder "Liza" and the other songs on this album. He merely displays a very unexceptional voice and poor interpretive taste. Fans beware, Feinstein proves that it is possible to make a bad cd of Gershwin songs. I'd recommend listening elsewhere.
they can't take that album away from me.......2002-05-09
the listenability of this album may stem from the fact that it is a bare-bones arrangement, with two pianos, a bass and drums, a la a jazz trio, with no embellishment, so michael feinstein's then sincere and unsophisticated voice is the featured instrument.
i heartily recommend this album, as every song on it is a gem and feinstein's voice is more appealing than on the two later albums, when he jazzed it up with what sounds like an echo chamber and other electronic enhancements and he seems to be doing the songs by the numbers.
feinstein's version of "liza," slowed down to ballad form and plaintively phrased, is the best i have ever heard. the duet with rosemary clooney on "isn't it a pity," again brings out the best of feinstein's then-new voice and shows why george's (clooney) aunt is rightfully considered a jazz legend.
the combined "he loves and she loves/how long has this been going on" is another melodic/poignant highlight, while the album's finale, "someone to watch over me," is a stirring anthem to wanting and needing someone and is done with vocal and instrumental passion; it brings this collection of songs to a fitting crescendo.
for a lawyer's kid from columbus, ohio who started out cataloguing gershwin estate material for the reclusive ira and then began singing the songs for family and friends, michael feinstein has done all right for himself. he has become the recognized interpreter of the gershwin legacy, sort of the same way his pseudo-cousin, john, jr. feinstein, has become the recognized interpreter of the bob knight legacy... .
michael feinstein may have hit a home run his first time up with this album, and it may be his best, as it is the purest and most joyful celebration of gershwin tunes, while the others are fancier, more jazzed up and ponderous and less appealing.
the other albums are certainly not bad, though, and i recommend buying them to fill out a feinstein or gershwin collection, but this one is by far the best one to get if you are only going to get one as a sample of either's work. it is nice work, and you can get it.

Album Description
Doug Stanhope delivers a brand new CD which covers every hilarious topic from birth defects to suicide, performed live with Henry Phillips providing acoustic guitar accompaniment to help "take the edge off." While the music offers a smoother pacing than the frenetic "Sicko," the material doesn't lose any of the bite for which Stanhope is reknowned.Customer Reviews:
excess in moderation.......2006-11-09
Still Quite Edgy.......2006-05-01
This CD marks the turning point in Stanhope's career when he transitioned from telling mostly (sexual) stories about his life to overtly political (libertarian) rants. His broadsides against vice cops, social conservatives and religion are worth the price of admission alone, but there are also plenty of hilarious sex bits like "Big Rubber Fist." Overall "Edge" ranks with "Die Laughing" as one of Stanhope's two best recorded CDs.
"Life is like animal porn. It's not for everybody.".......2004-09-06
This is possibly the most accomplished of Stanhope's CDs so far, and not only because of the beautiful guitar background track (it was tried by many comedians, and most of them failed to enhance the effect - even Bill Hicks in his Arizona Bay, although personally I quite liked the background there).
The CD flows back to back and an hour of act feels like maybe 15 minutes. It does not get boring for one second, and Stanhope proudly displays his biggest strength: wild, ornate, all-stops-pulled verbal imagery. He starts building an image before your eyes, and then adds an extra gross and revolting feature, and then another one, and then another. He piles them high and after each layer you think - now I've heard everything. But wait - there is more! And more. And more. Until the image before unwraps before your eyes, like a bizarre medieval painting, where Flemish artists surpassed themselves in inventing incredibly convoluted, complex - sometimes disgusting - picture of inferno and the Last Judgment.
Stanhope is an accomplished professional and God only knows how long he has to work on his act to get this perfection of delivery, where the pinnacle of the punchline is delivered - always - with just the correct volume of breath, enhancing the feeling of the culminating crescendo.
And the closing tracks about Excess in Moderation and about Bobbie Barnett - listen to them again. They can sum up an entire life philosophy - only for those, of course, who happen to agree with it. But hey: this is like animal porn. It's not for everybody.
Stanhope burns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE BURNETH!!!.......2004-06-07
This guy is a comic genius, along with his Man Show (yeah, the show is ok- don't blame them, considering the constraints under which they have to operate- it's still damn diggetty) co-host Joe Rogan, those two may be the sickest most profane individuals working in stand up. And thank God for 'em. (As Stanhope says on this release, "This is stand-up comedy folks...it's a dead sport...")
Both revel in the awkward, tortured basenessof humanity and turn our collective cultural ills into comedic gold. If you are tired of the same old tame, Comedy Central stand-up (admittedly, they have to go with the PG-13, cuz they're cable) observationists with their piddling coyisms: Get this. It will burn the scales from your eyes, and lead you out of Plato's cave, laughing like a tard the whole time.
Less revolving around the stories of 'Sicko,' though Doug can still milk a yarn for every ounce of meaty sanguine flava, Doug's jokes and observations really come into their own on this one. I prefer his 'Die Laughing' the most, and a couple of bits from this (Suicide most obviously) are streamlined on Die Laughing. That's another plus: many comedians recycle bits like a mutha hubbard. Stanhope doesn't do that much at all, so each CD packs new whallop!
Also there is this guy, Henry Phillips, who accompanies Doug with acoustic guitar playing throughout the whole CD.... Worried? Well, It doesn't get in the way of the funnies. I thought that would really grate on me at first but at times it works well- during the freakshow bit he plays that little circus jingle... They play off each other nicely. Don't let the guitar disuade you.
At any rate- Buy Stanhope's CDs, buy Rogan's (one, C'mon duide the people are jonesing for a new one!!!!) CD, get old Pryor, get old Carlin, get some Bill Hicks, and check out Kinison's stuff starting with the oldest (GET LIVE FROM HELL ON VINYL OR CASSETTE!!!!) and moving forward up until Leader of the banned which you just want to avoid... They will give you mounds of great stuff to steal when you're sitting at a bar, trying to be the funny guy because you're lame and unoriginal and have no soul of your own with which to lure under-age gals- you be the veriest Aristotelian conception of slave- to wage, wife and whatever else... Ohh! I don't think amazon has it -but if you go to eatabullet dottie commie, you can get Jim Norton's CD 'Yellow Discipline.' Also great, also dark, also evil. Also HILARIOUS.
One of the Greatest Comedy Albums Ever.......2004-04-23
Whereas "Sicko" mainly just chronicled Stanhope's smutty lifestyle, ALSTTTEO takes that lifestyle and applies the lessons one can learn from it to the Big Picture. And trust me, no one else but Doug could take such deviant practices and not only make them feel universal, but also mold them into incisive analogies that leave the listerner feeling an ironic sense of enlightenment.
5 stars isn't enough...

Fantastic Performances of FZ Music.......2007-02-09
This music is certainly less likely to be immediately turned off by the folks who automatically smell that Zappa aroma and don't want to give it a try. For those type of uninitiated listeners, this Zappa music is actually listenable.
Ed Palermo plays the tunes very true to the original compositions so that you know you're listening to somebody playing Zappa.
Palermo could almost be credited with co-writing because, as is evidence with Sofa #1, there is an extra section in the middle featuring xylophone and sax interlude not written into the original by Zappa but plays well within the context of the song. Palermo takes just enough liberty with the music to keep it very much Frank Zappa's but puts his own stamp on it as well. I think it is truly an homage to Zappa to add to his music without blatantly changing it.
Paired with Palermo's first Zappa tribute disc, Ed Palermo Big Band Plays the Music Of Frank Zappa, you get some first-rate performances of Zappa music!
To reiterate: This is great Zappa Jazz music which non-Zappa listeners can get fooled into tapping their foot to. Thank you, Ed Palermo for making this wonderful tribute to the Late, Great Frank Zappa! ARF!!
Yep !.......2006-12-22
The nearly perfect tempo, playing and sound quality were a bit - staggering - at first. But the music selections, playful arrangements, and obvious reverence toward the material shine brighter with each listening. Some of the song choices are surprising and haunting...ie Sleep Dirt. Thank you Ed and Band.
+ 1/2 stars...Big Band Spin on Zappa Classics.......2006-10-09
It's worth noting that with this second release of Zappa compositions from Palermo, Palermo--at 52--is the same age as Zappa when he died in 1993. Palermo's arrangments are always engaging and contain the essence of the originals while putting his own unique stamp on them. As a fan who first fell under Zappa's spell when I heard WE'RE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY and UNCLE MEAT when I was in high school, it's refreshing to hear Palermo breathe new life into these songs. [PS: For those reviewers who lament that his first Zappa tribute CD is out of print, according to a recent interview, Palermo says he still has a few available directly through him at edpalermo@comscast.net.]HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Accessible Zappa, Smooth & Tight Musicianship!.......2006-08-29
This CD is a rollicking, gymnastic jazz tour-de-force. Although I'm still spinning it, I'm impressed by the production, the excellent musicianship and overall sound of this record. At the risk of being redundant, it's great for Zappa enthusiasts like myself and it's cool jazz sound is totally unlike the vapid "cool jazz sound" found on stupid "cool jazz" radio stations. At the risk of sounding pedantic, this is music for people who like good, complex, well-executed, yet soulful music.
And, most importantly, Ed's passion for FZ's work is more than evident. Thanks for carrying on the legacy ... Frank's digging it big time, I know it!
A notch below their first release.......2006-08-05
What I really enjoy about the arrangements is that there are snippets of many other FZ songs contained within. They might be only a stanza or two but Zappaphiles will relish identifying them. The performances are tight yet have an improvisational feel to portions. The audio quality is top notch to boot. I have been listening to this CD non-stop since I bought it and I'm still hearing new things in the songs. I regret that their first CD is no longer in print as I'm sure anyone finding this release enjoyable will really declare the first one a true gem. I wonder how Gail, Dweezil and the rest of the Zappa clan feel when they hear Frank's wonderful music in this jazz environment? I would hope they are as grateful as I am to know that this American composer is still very much alive in this music and still held in awe by those who loved him and his musical genius. Thanks, Ed for keeping the flame burning. I'm making a trip to NYC to hear this band perform this material live--but that's another review.

Please let the plane get off the ground.......2007-05-24
As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" I put together this information for you and hope it gives you the best source of making a judgement about the recording. If you don't already have the music, please don't be turned off by the change of sound quality. Many times in order to acquire previously unreleased music you can't always have it sound like George Martin was part of the project.
"Cleared For Take Off " Acrobat (U.K.) ACMCD 4001 CD released 11/6/03 (Taken from the Winterland, San Francisco, California performances of 3/10-3/12/67). The sound quality changes throughout the CD and the pops come at no extra charge. Although the CD wasn't put together with the greatest respect to the band or fan (Some songs fade-out and have wrong titles), those that don't own the material will be interested. There should have been one version of everything played during the three nights. The CD doesn't include "And I Like It", "Let Me In", "Fat Angel", or the jam. No information was given in the liner notes about the dates used for the songs so I have included that for you. "3/5 Of A Mile In To Seconds" 3/11/67, "Don't Let Me Down" 3/10/67, "Don't Slip Away" 3/10/67, "She Has Funny Cars" 3/12/67, "Let's Get Together" (Fades-out) 3/11/67, "High Flying Bird" 3/12/67, "It's No Secret" 3/12/67, "Come Back Baby" (Listed as "Jorma's Blues") 3/12/67, "Plastic Fantastic Lover"(Intro cut) 3/11/67, "Runnin' Round This World"(Listed as "Running Round The World") 3/11/67, "Somebody To Love" (W/"Leave You Alone" which was not listed) 3/10/67, "The Other Side Of This Life" 3/11/67, "Thing" (Fades-out) 3/11/67, "Tobacco Road" 3/10/67, "Today" 3/11/67, "White Rabbit" 3/12/67, "Bringing Me Down" (Listed as "You're Bring Me Down") 3/11/67, and "My Best Friend" (Listed as "You're My Best Friend").
Thanks and be well,

Essential For True Airplane Freaks.......2007-05-15
The performance is good..the production is poor.......2006-12-07
I think they could have put alittle better effort into the remastering of this recording.
If you want to hear great live recordings...stick to BLESS ITS POINTED LITTLE HEAD and THIRTY SECONDS OVER WINTERLAND..
I would guess this was recorded off somebodys pocket tape recorder from the audience....would hate to think this came off the soundboard..
a nice compilation.......2006-02-05
The disc includes most of the songs played during those shows (omitting only "And I Like It", "Let Me In", "Fat Angel", and a long instrumental jam) but doesn't include the multiple performances of the same songs over the three nights. The performance is vintage Airplane, recorded only about a month after their breakthrough "Surrealistic Pillow" LP was released.
The disc is almost certainly unauthorized and may take advantage of sometimes lax European copyright laws, but the material hasn't been officially released. I expect that if it ever is, the quality will be substantially better. Until then, you may want to check this disc out as a sampler of the Airplane giving some tight, energetic performances.
the band is great but the quaility is suck.......2005-07-25
