About the Artist
During the early years (1980-1992) of Tarumbae’s musical journey, San Francisco proved to be the right place for Ron’s innovative ideas. His strong funk influence along with his passion for Reggae drove him to pioneer towards a new sound and style. Blending Funk and Reggae Ron began developing his own unique sound and style. "I’ve always wanted to do something new to music. I never wanted to repeat what other have already done or what I was already hearing. I wanted, and still want, to impact music with something so original yet acceptable and pleasing to the ear…something that says this is Ron’s contribution to music."

As Ron continues to grow as a recording artist, producer and writer his goal comes closer to reality. During the four year period he lived in Finland, Ron was able to cultivate his ideas under the guidance of Mike Thomas, who is credited in the Guinness Book of World Records for being one of the pioneers who brought Reggae music to England. "Music is a construction and a new sound is an invention," says Ron.

Since 1996, Ron has resided in Shreveport, Louisiana. "Shreveport has always been in my heart since leaving at six years old and moving to California. I’ve always felt like I was in the right place every time I visited here. I feel as if my roots are planted in this soil. I feel at home."

Currently, Ron instructs the Wider Education Thru Music Participation, a program he developed to teach understanding and building rhythms for youth and adults. Additionally, he is an instructor for the Urban Music Workshop, another program he developed to teach young aspiring artists the nuts and bolts of the music industry. Ron is also the Founder and Executive Director of Playaz & Playettes, Inc., a non-profit charitable educational corporation. His latest release "Unplugged And Off The Chain" exemplifies Ron’s dedication and passion for playing percussion as he displays his creative abilities as a writer, arranger, producer and performer.

Product Description
Over the past three years Ron Hardy has accomplished a lot in the City of Shreveport. He is mostly known as a musician, community activist, entrepreneur and a friend of Ledbetter Heights "A lot could be said about Ron and his impact on the lives of many children and adults through his music and compassion for people." Among many of his accomplishments is his new CD release "Unplugged and Off The Chain." It is written, arranged and performed mostly by Ron, along with the help from Gordon Nurse on steel drums, "Dirty Redd" Don Crenshaw on trumpet, Daryll Mims on flute and a host of talented vocalists along with poet Kahlil Shakur.

The CD was produced by Ron Hardy and Sonny Gaston for Red Beans and Rice Productions in a newly built recording studio owned by Playaz and Playettes, Inc., a non-profit charitable educational corporation founded by Ron. The recording studio has become a safe haven for many upcoming musicians to explore the music industry through the "Urban Music Workshop." The workshop is a free six-week program for youth ages 12-21.

"Unplugged and Off The Chain" is an 18-track CD introducing themes from traditional spirituals tied with African beats and original melodies. The CD is versatile in style and very innovative in his musical approach. It will be available in local music stores on September 21, 2002. A review of the CD was released in SB Magazine (August 2002 Issue).
