Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Je l'adore!.......2004-02-23

I love this CD. Being an American who loves punk rock and alternative rock, this CD always brings me back to my French roots. I think Damien Saez is an awesome artist and I would totally recommend this CD to everybody. The lyrics are real, the music is original, and Saez puts emotion into everything he says.

5 out of 5 stars Great Original Music.......2003-08-03

Saez are very tallented slightly alternative fresh music. Best france has produced.

5 out of 5 stars God Blesse: his 2nd album is already out :-).......2002-09-16

I don't usually do these sorta things... indulge in writing reviews in the hope that I might persuade some potential customers; frankly, Saez would most likely disapprove and I don't blame him. Well, what to say if only that im writing this mainly in reaction to Fabienne's inflammatory review. Saez is, for lack of a better catchphrase, a musical genius- the incarnation of modern-day mozart. He harmonizes chaos, producing rapturously tantalizing sounds that brand an indelible imprint in the listener's mind, changing or comforting him forever; I don't expect much more from the true artist, neither should you.

5 out of 5 stars The reason I am into French Music.......2001-08-15

When I went over to France this summer, I heard the song 'Jeune et Con' on the radio a few times. I immediately loved it and would make everyone be quiet so I could listen when the song played. Unfortunately, I could not understand the name of the song when it was said by the french DJs. Finally, I learned the name and now I really have to buy the CD.

1 out of 5 stars Ridiculous man, ridiculous CD.......2001-07-19

I repeat, there is nothing good about ce petit monsieur de la 'petite France.' I could try listening to the CD ten more times so I too can be brainwashed into thinking he is a 'musical genius' or a fine representation of 'French rock music today.' But I can't. Because I gave the album away a long time ago. And because I think it only right to present an alternative viewpoint to the poor soul out there who wants to spend money on this thing, like I once did. No. Don't do it!

'Amandine' (ugh) is whiny. His rendition of 'My funny valentine' is nothing short of boring. Saez's voice is irritably nasal, his pseudo-hard/alt rock melodies are both derivative and unfresh. What could possibly be interesting about a synth homage to his drug of choice, Heroine? His lyrics are rote, silly. Sure, 'Sauver cette etoile' and 'Jeune and Con' are catchy. But two tunes do not a satisfied listening experience make!

Having listened to quite a lot of music since the time I originally wrote my review, I can say unequivocably that this IS one of the worst albums I have listened to in my life. Please do yourself a favor and see what else is out there. Give a listen to Louise attaque's album Comme on a dit (sold here on Amazon.com) and anything by Tarmac. (Their two albums really should be made available here but are easily ordered elsewhere)
