Sonny's professional musical journey started as a teenager, alongside some of the most respected Hawaiian musicians, including the Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau, and well-known slack key guitarist Fred Punahoa.

Filled with a majority of self penned originals, Slack Key Guitar The Artistry of Sonny Lim showcases musical arrangements, adapted tunings and techniques that he has learned from several masters while maintaining his own distinct style. Great Slack Key Artistry by a Great Musician.......2005-10-07

If you are a fan of slack key guitar, you will love this CD. He plays with his own unique slack key tunings, and presents a nice variety of style & sound. I am fortunate to know Sonny Lim and his ohana, and this is a family of great musicians. When I see him play, I know that Sonny's music comes from his heart. He plays not for the mighty dollar but simply for the love of the music. Sonny Lim is absolutely one of the best slack key artists I have ever heard... and there are some great ones on the islands. Get this CD and then if you're ever on the Big Island, make it a point to go hear & see him in person!
