The impression is wrong...no no........2007-01-18

Previous reviewer claims this is B-Sides and Boxcar Sessions outtakes, and is missing the point and off the mark. This is an independent release from Saafir dating back to 1998 and has a genuine Oakland feel to the whole album, similar to other releases from the Bay on Sik Wid It, Hiero, ABB, etc. It was a "laid" back, funky late 1990s production that shines. If you are expecting "Boxcar Sessions" (which shined from major label money) or the "Hit List" you're missing out. If you're from the Bay, you know what to expect and you'll bump this. You can find it cheaply elsewhere and it's well worth it. BTW check his new LP, "Good Game: The Transition" on Oakland's own ABB Records.

disjointed follow up to a classic.......2006-05-17

This was sone of those LPs that kind of fell out of nowhere and one of those albums in which you can "tell the book by its cover." I don't really know the story behind it, but it seems like an album in which the record label was scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Although the CD has some decent cuts, my impression is that this was made of B-sides and throw-aways from "Boxcar Sessions," from other recording sessions, or just from a plain low budget. One of the better tracks on this CD is "Just Riddin,'" but there was also a track of the same name on "Boxcar Sessions." The song isn't labeled a remix, or pt2, but you get the feeling that, that's what it is.

The best songs on this LP are produced by Shock G, from Digital Underground, and Jay-Z (not the rapper) who produced "Boxcar Sessions."

Although the album has its moments, it feels disjointed and doesn't have a common theme. If you're looking for a sequel to "Boxcar Sessions" you will not find it here, but if your interested in hearing some different work from one of the dopest emcees... check it out.

This album is the most recent full length work available from Saafir(the Saucy Nomad, Merg One, No-No, ect.)It has some older music from the Boxcar sessions era towards the end of the album, trax 9-12 available only on the CD. This piece is truely a work of art by a dedicated and talented indvidual. No frills or Janet Jackson collaborations on this one, just heavy beats, and smooth instrumentals. TRUNK EXPLOSION!!!! Lyricly, Saafir is one of, if not the most intelligent and premeditative rap artists to grace the m-i-c.Every word owns a spot on the album, every riddle captivates and provokes deeper reflection. This work is not for everybody mind you. It is not for the timid. If you like your "Rap Music" handed to you on a silver platter, I suggest you stick to your Westside Connections or Mace Daddy ect. This is street music with urban connotations for todays city culture. A real-life down to earth and back-off of it, introspective. Saafir, slept on? Yes. Ever forgotten? No(no). If you're a head and you haven't got this peace in your stacks, it is your responsibility to get it, by any and all means necessary. Mr. No no is lesson #2, for lesson #1 please refer to the infamous Boxcar Sessions. ~Enjoy~
