5 out of 5 stars Great album.......2007-05-01

if you dnt own this in your collection jump on it , classic material from track 1 to track 13, a must have for aLL you silly dj's / collectors

4 out of 5 stars japan has good taste in hip hop.......2006-01-29

yo its the legendary dj honda,he's very talented,he really does his thing on the production, and its sad that people from other countries know more about hip hop than us americans, its because we take it for granted, and we get spoiled from it,thats the problem with this country, but other than that, its a good album worth checking out, there was a couple of songs i couldve done without like guru's what you expected, sorry guru you don't sound as good without primo, and f that, and they have the nerve to put the instrumental for what you expected, and it wasn't that good, but other than that the songs are solid and what makes this album special is that its an east coast album no other regions(thank god).

4 out of 5 stars it tight!!.......2002-01-06

DJ Honda is one of the best DJ's around..the cd has some real feel good hip hop music (Common,REDMAN,Biz Mark etc.) but almost to the end of it, it geats lame and boring. If you are a true hip hop fan, then you must buy...if you are a fan of that bling bling, shake ya butt, i got lots of money etc. stuff, It's not for you...be gone you

5 out of 5 stars Hip Hop.......... the Tokyo way.......2000-05-27

If you're not even at least familiar with this kat, then you're not a true underground hip-hop fan. I first heard Honda on a underground college radio mix show. (WRAS 88.5 ATL,GA) He introduces his self and turn table skills to the world on the second track "DJ Battle". Many well known artist calibrated with Honda on this joint. Redman with the ill ryhme style on "Kill That Noize", Grand Puba, Sadat-X ripped the track "Straight Talk from NY" and one of my favorite underground MC's, "Problemz" spit a lyrical storm on the track "Datz My Word". The CD also features The Alkaholiks form Cali, Al Tariq who put down mad science on the track "The End", Sean Black, Biz Markie, and many more. This is a true underground international classic along with his second release "Honda II". 96 was a year hip-hop was going down hill and a few MC's were holding it up from the underground and DJ Honda was doing his part to hold it up with a host of real MC's.

This is another hip-hop joint to cop for all real hip hop heads

5 out of 5 stars I got some PROBLEMZ...........2006-09-18

I need more DJ HONDA. This is by far the best production from a DJ to give these incredible MC's I've heard in a long time. All of the artists hold it down, especially Problemz & De la Soul. Its cool to hear De La again I remember why I was so into them. I guess what I want to say is this album will re-kindle some of your favorites including some help from Sinista & Roc Raida make this a must own for hip hop lovers.

5 out of 5 stars his best album.......2006-02-01

to me this is his best album he stepped his game up on the production, its more dark now, nothing against the 1st one but this album has better production than the 1st one that's what really makes this album special, this is that real hip hop that you can blast in your car,he's underrated and shouldn't be,i hope he gets the attention he deserves, and what makes this album really special is that its an east coast hip hop compilation.recommeded for fans of real hip hop and underground hip hop, standout tracks are Trouble In The Water with de la soul,5 Seconds with black attack (he's nice), Team Players with krs-one and doe i think its jon doe not sure, Blaze It Up with black attack (my favorite track on the album),Go Crazy with S-On my 2nd favorite, and finally my 3rd favorite Around The Clock with problemz (that beat is hot,it has like a japanese mythical feel to it),recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Great album.......2005-08-13

Awesome album, great to just relax too- has a ton of great appreances on it, it really would be impossible for this album to be anything less than 4 stars.... Black Attack, Mos Def, De La... its really dope and if you dont own it your missing out-

Peace

5 out of 5 stars HAI !!!.......2003-01-03

DJ Honda blesses this album with intense beats. Also, I was not dissapointed with any of the guest appearances. It was a good line up: especially with artists like The Beatnuts (Who the Trifest?) or De La Soul (Trouble In The Water) the albums gonna be good. Well worth checking out.

5 out of 5 stars My man Honda, not the car but the DJ !!.......2002-01-31

INCREDIBLE !!! This album is amazingly good !!! It's pure hip hop ! With the best lyricists and DJ Honda's stunning producing skills, this album is A MUST FOR ALL REAL HIP HOP FANS !! The best songs,(both not included in the imported version) are Hai! featuring Sermon, Murray & Redman ; and Travelling Man feat. Mos Def. Finally a DJ worth mentioning !!!

If you go back into my reviews, I've written 2 reviews on this kat. Honda's self title 1st joint and Honda II are 2 tight CDs filled with the illest MC's in the game. And now he teams up with Jeru The Damaja and produce madd science with the track El Presidente.

Hear me people, cop all of Honda's CDs and then cop this one when it drops.

This single is awesome... The beat by dj honda is sooooo nice, and the rhymes by jeru aren't far behind... DJ Honda has always freaked some really nice beats, and this track isn't any different. I'm really looking for his new album...

5 out of 5 stars best DJ album ever made.......2002-12-15

Title says it all. Every single one of these tracks have both lyrics and great production. DJ Honda is the most underrated producer I can think of and is just the opposite of the largley overrated DJ Premier.

5 out of 5 stars Just had to do a masterpiece justice........2002-05-02

I just had to set the record straight on this album after seeing the miserable overall review it pulled (with only two reviewers). This album, to say the least, is a masterpiece. From the addicting beat of Real to Me, to the head banging blend of DJ and MC in El Presidente, this album has got it all over. Of all of Honda's work, this seems to be the least recognized, but in my opinion, the best. It shows a certain compositional maturity that'll have you not hitting the skip track button, but the repeat. I realize the price is high, but if any album is worth fifty bucks, this one is.

        1 out of 5 stars who's gonna pay...for this thing?.......2002-01-31

Seriously, [the] price tag for a new CD from a total has-been hip hop producer (who was at best a primo rip-off) is outrageous! I've heard the lead off singles (which by the way are already 2 years old!) and they are weak!; lame meaningless lyrics and beats circa 1997.

        5 out of 5 stars A Production Masterpiece!.......2001-06-03

This album is a must if youa ctually like lyrical skills and sick beats. The track El Presidente featuring Jeru has got some of the illest rhymes and beats i have heard in a long time. Ive been following Dj Honda's albums for a while and for sure HIII stands out like no other. Over all a must buy.

3 out of 5 stars Should have been so much better.......2005-05-25

I have to agree with the last review. I too am a massive fan of both EPMD and Parish. This album should have been so much better than it is. Two legends of hip hop, Parish Smith and DJ Honda combining their talents should not a poor album make. The Cd is quite short coming in at just over 40 minutes (made up of quite a few skits) and duplicating some tracks on Parish's LP The Awakening Cd. I have to be honest and say that i felt a little ripped off by the aforementioned and overall got the impression more care could have been taken over the album.

On the flip side the LP does some have good tracks on it which is why i have given it a three star rating. However given the talent on this album this should have been ranking up there as one of the best Parish has done to date.

          3 out of 5 stars (3+half) Connecting nicely.......2005-03-24

The only bad points with this album is that 2 tracks appear on PMD's solo album "the awakening" and its only 37mins long. Apart from that, its excellent. Head nodding, bone crunching beats by HONDA and the real b-boy lyrics by PMD. I agree with the other reviewer that its no classic but there is definitely enough here for any real hiphop fan to feel. Although most of the joints are just under 3mins long they are str8 to the point and very much designed to get you amped. HONDA's cuts on every track are as sharp as a ginsu and PMD's rhymes seem to have got tighter+more passionate than his last material. Standout cuts are "beginning to end", "who could you trust?", "rhyme for me" and "constant elevation". Worth having in your collection, especially if you're an EPMD fan but not at that ridiculous price so try cop it on the cheap.

          3 out of 5 stars unexpected dissapointment!!.......2003-03-17

i am a huge fan of EPMD, and PMD's 'business is business' is and always will be one of my top 10 favorites, but this album was just a big dissapointment. Dont get me wrong its not a terrible album and there are others far worse i just expected more from parrish, espically teaming up with dj honda. All and all, its a worthy album for listening but its no classic
