Fast Cash Money.......2006-12-13

Sophomore solo album, Fast Money, from Birdman / Baby or whichever of the multiple names the co-owner of Cash Money Records goes by, consider his skills and flow like wine. As time progress Birdman does as well. As previous albums released by Cash Money were completely produced by Mannie Fresh, this album only contains four of the signature sound provider of the label. As the "Intro" kicks off this LP it defines what is to come on this presentation. The production was one of the six produced by newcomer Deezle that didn't seem to lack the flare of what may have been expected. Maybe one of the most rugged tracks, "My Territory", gives off a street edge to match Birdman's driven lyrics. The duo of Birdman and Lil' Wayne featured on "Neck Of The Woods" was a tightly knitted song where each of their styles were highlighted in different angles. "Ghetto Life" featuring Bun-B & 6 Shot has a more mainstream feel, but toned down the realism of the ghetto with vibrant colors. The arrangement on "Hug Da Block" with B's two toned vocals tailored the instrumental with precision. "Cash Money Nigg**" featuring Lil' Carl was underlined by the guest vocalist singing the hook for support of this song. The subject of drug selling couldn't be done better as on "Shovlin' Snow" featuring Currency, Main & Lil' Wayne as they give you the glamorous side of the game. One of the album's highlight, "Pressure's On", has an upbeat, exotic feel where the street lyrical content bounced along with the track wihout missing a beat as does "Smoke Out" featuring Ta & 6 Shot straight to Stunna Island. As the dark track with a southern bounce on "Get It All Together" featuring Lil' Wayne help to complete the overall concept of the project. Birdman made a brief shot at the missing members of the Hot Boyz with "...and three left now they all are trying to be me, it's one Birdman and one j.r. / we're neighborhood superstars, so f*ck y'all..." was all that needed to be said as retaliation. Slowing it down with a simple one two kick on "We Got That" featuring 6 Shot for a more hardcore, gangster feel for the album. "Big Pimpin'" is repititious with ending line "...over here, nigg*..." but he managed to arrange the song with two style flow verses to make this a memerable song. Much to short to dislike the tag team efforts on "Out The Ghetto" featuring Chop, Baby still found a way to formulate a upbeat attack on the more or less mainstream track. The horns on "Around The World" gave this album life as it seemed to slip to fillers. Giving props to the women who stick to their men in the struggle on "Solid Chic" featuring Lil' Mo was a good change of atmosphere for substance. "We Getting It On" featuring Ta & Big Tymers was just a clowning and or a simply fun song as they go down the alphabet from a - z speaking on different women names. Saving the best for last "Get Your Shine On" featuring Lil' Wayne was the perfect conclusion of the LP. Birdman stepped up to becoming well rounded with this effort and the bling, money, shining, ballin' didn't stop it's just with more style. Who knows, maybe the next album may produce a hip-hop quotable from Birdman! He represented well for Uptown New Orleans like it is supposed to be done.

Birdman returns with Fast Money.......2006-05-06

This album has alot of coherence, and Birdman has definitely stepped up his game. No more talking about cars on 26s and prices of mansions around his neck and wrist.The first two singles neck of the woods and get your shine on should motivate you to go get this album, because trust me there are plently of others hits on this cd as good as those two if not better than those two. i must admit Birdman surprised me especially after his last cd release. Birdman bounces back and takes criticism about him not being able to rap to the heart, and fuels that fire into his rhymes on this release. You should definitely go get this cd if you're a fan of new orleans rappers. Even if you dont like it, just go get it, check out Birdman's improved flow, what's 10-15 out of your pocket?

i never really knew baby but from the reviews ive read i guess his last album wasnt to good. i download music from limewire in case you havnt heard of that go to limewire.com and you download it for free and then choose your music. well i heard somebody talking about his last album and i heard the song get ur shine on a while ago so i decided to check it out and it came up with a ton of results. i clicked on get ur shine on to download that. then i cliked on we got that. then smoke out. ever since then smoke out and get ur shine on have been on all my burnt cds. it should be a great album because those are really good songs. i will have to check out his other cd and i guess find out why it is so bad.

A Suprisingly Solid Album..........2006-02-12

Baby has really picked it up on this album. For the last few years, Cash Money Records has been in serious decline, with their artist seeming to rehash the same material over and over again on every production, and Bryan Williams "AKA Baby Birdman", the former CEO, has been hit the hardest. His somewhat anticipated debut album "Baby AKA The #1 Stunna", only worsened the situation, recieving major criticism for its endless rhymes about cars, bling, weed, and money that it typical of CM, and essentially threw Baby out of the spotlight permenantly. Lil Wayne, the only really popular artist out of his clique, has had to hold Cash Money up for a long time. On this album, however, Baby has made a huge comeback.

It seems almost too good to be true. On "Fast Money", The Birdman has come a long way, erasing his off-beat rhymes from albums such as "Big Money Heavyweight" forever. His flow and lyrical game are incredible, like nothing you would ever dream he could be capable of. Though Baby stays within the usual rap topics (Drugs, girls, guns), like his first album, he makes a much larger effort to expand upon it, rapping a lot more about personal experiences in the rap and street game than driving fast cars and having a good time. Songs like "Neck of the Woods", and "We Got That" really display this. The beats of tracks such as "Get It All Together", "My Territory", and "We Gettin' It On", among others, will have you bobbing your head and bouncing out of your chair. Despite the title of the album, Baby shows almost none of the typical Cash Money influence, with the last song on the CD being the only track that rhymes about nothing but stacking cash and "pipes and big rims", and its still one of the best songs! His choice of guest performences are also great, with Bun B absolutely tearing the first verse of "Ghetto Life" up, along with the chorus, and Lil' Wayne making a perfect duet partner for BM on both "Neck of the Woods" and "Get Your Shine On". Other artists such as Chop (Who is this guy? He needs to release a solo album quick!) and 6-Shot make huge contributions to several tracks.

To say this is one of Cash Money's best productions ever would be an understatement, with FM containing some of the most solid rapping I have seen in a long time, surpasing all of their major releses of 2004-2005, including Mannie Fresh's debut, and even "Tha Carter II". Literally every song on the entire album adds something new or different. Give it a chance, you will not be disappointed by this album

A Big Improvement.......2006-02-03

Baby's first album was alright but this ones great. Being a CASH MONEY fan I copped it. this album has great beats and bass. Even the guest appearances from the CA$H MONEY records that you never hear about are spitin some good rhymes. I would say this is one of the hottest cds I heard in a while.
