Have Mercy, Maxi Priest.......2007-01-10
I never though I would think any "Priest" was sexy. Maxi Priest has a very seductive voice, he is gorgeous and he looks like he can talk any woman into doing anything.......and his lyrics are very passionate and they pierce the soul. I don't know if he writes his own songs....but this man is good at what he does.
Brings back memories.......2006-01-26
I was driving along the ocean the other day and one of Art Porter's CD's, Pocket City, was playing. About half way through, "Close to You", comes on, only just Art on the sax. All I could remember was that, this song was one of my all time favorites, and years ago, I had listened to it over and over. I finally got home, and searched for the CD, found it and began playing it. It just reaffirmed that this CD was truly ground breaking, reggae, a little hip hop, and the the music is off the chart. Kind of takes you back.
Reggae star.......2005-09-01
I strongly recommend all fans of reggae music or pop music to have this particular album of the Maxie Priest. Maxie Priest voice is strong and beautiful, lyrics is great too. My favorite song is I just wanna be close to you. i can listen it over and over again
Awesome contemporary reggae.......2004-05-02
This is definitely one my favorite contemporary reggae albums. I purchased it at the time of release and fourteen years later I still can't get enough. I am not a fan of hard reggae but definitely appreciate this genre of the music and Maxi Priest just combines all the right elements to give it a smooth, elegant but definitely reggae feel. Bonafide surely gave him unprecedented recognition because it is the production after Wild World, which opened the doors to a great contemporary era in reggae- the 90's. This cd is a winner through and through. You probably will listen to it several times before taking a breather. My favorites are Best of me, You and Sure fire love. Treat yourself to this "Bonafide" album. This is contemporary reggae in its splendor.

BONAFIDE IS GREAT!!!!.......2007-07-26
While I do like some of the songs on Jon's follow-up cd's, none have come close to the songs on Bonafide! From beginning to end, it is a wonderful ride. The climax of this cd is the truly underrated "Love Don't Do"....I will just say that for anyone who has ever been in love and gotten hurt, this song will definitely speak wonders to your heart! Jon does a lot of ad-libbing towards the end of some of his slower songs which in my opinion brings out a truly unique soulful sensation that is lacking in music today.
Good Debut.......2007-01-02
Jon B's first CD was what R&B fans had been waiting for. There hadn't been a white male solo singer to get love from the R&B community since Bobby Caldwell. I remember when the CD released in 1997 it featured the huge single Someone To Love and also featured the exclllent ballads Time After Time and Pretty Girl. Jon B released three more excllent CD'S after this and has a new one due in 2007.
Classic.......2006-12-16
Jon B is a wonderful musician. He isn't in need of any help for big name producers who are trying to mold and shape the next big thing or take their cut off the top before the album even drops; simply because he writes, produces, and sings his own material. It's a great album and a must-have in your collection, and even though it was his first album; it was a great beginning.
Favorite tracks: Pretty Girl, Isn't It Scary, Pants Off, and Love Don't Do.
Pretty fly...for a white guy!.......2006-02-07
The man is so fine! His talent matches his looks and may go beyond them. This cd is perfect. It is a must have for your music collection. The album is timeless. Do you realize that this is the only white guys that 2pac has done a song with? Get this cd!

No praise is too high........2005-05-10
This duo, Craig and Cynthia, are welcome to crash in my town anytime !
Hard to know what label to attach to this music -- Americana, Folk/Rock, Country/Folk or perhaps the latest manifestation of Cosmic American Music ? Thing is - I don't know if they are Americans but I'd like to think that the Great GP would have approved and loved this wonderful album.
The nearest stuff I could compare this music to is probably Buddy & Julie Miller's recent joint efforts. Beautiful harmonies; I could listen to Cynthia Frazzini's voice all day. Strong melodies; there's a quaint old word for you, but it's very apt, I assure you and not a weak track on the album. The only familiar song is a (good) version of that ancient Dylan classic Subterraenean Homesick Blues.
I've just ordered their only other album, 2003s "ROW" on the strength of this one; if it only turns out to be half as good, it'll still be worth it, I reckon.

Customer Reviews:
Very Disappointing.......2006-11-28
I was extremely disappointed after listening to what Wisbone ash has withered down to in this CD. After hearing comments as to how the 'old' Wisbone Ash sound was back on Bona Fide, I couldn't wait to get it, but it just isn't so.
Most of the songs on this CD have a generic cookie-cutter soft-rock sound to them that will leave you wanting to skip to the next one hoping it will get better. The only cut that comes across sounding anything like 'Pilgrimage' or 'Argus' era Wishbone Ash is "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda" but even then only until you get to the chorus verse with the annoying un-characteristic keyboard chords.
The instrumental title track "Bona Fide" sounds more like a Joe Satriani piece, and the twin lead guitars lack the energetic dueling feel of yore, playing only an anemic harmony off of each other. The only stand-out cut on the CD is "Come Rain, Come Shine," due mainly to the fact that it is a World Trade Center tribute. It is inspired but comes across sounding more like 'Yes' than Wishbone Ash.
Overall, Andy Powell is making a valiant effort trying to keep the old Ash sound alive, but this is one CD that comes up very short of achieving that goal.
Gone are the days when I would turn down the lights, turn up the volume and sit and absorb the energy of "Phoenix" or the goose-bump-inducing thrill from the dueling leads on "Throw Down the Sword." This CD is more suited to un-distracting fill-in background music, if that's your preference.

Customer Reviews:
Clever, sharp songwriting with excellent arrangements ..........2000-08-03
I first heard Lee Feldman's "Man In A Jupiter Hat" reviewed on National Public Radio, and was immediately intrigued. After not being able to find it at my local Conspiracy record stores, I settled for picking up his debut, "Living It All Wrong," and was impressed by the easy blend of light jazz and contemporary pop and rock that marked the best songs on that album.
However, "Man In A Jupiter Hat" is even better than LIAW. For starters, Feldman's songwriting seems more assured now. Uptempo tunes such as "Eastern Europe," "Underground," and "Monkeys" cover a lot of lyrical ground, and the title track is a beautifully detailed, miniature description of an aging American seeing his youth reflected in "the Saturday children" around him. "Drunken Melodies," "Frank's Tune," and "Airplane" are other highlights that show how Feldman has grown increasingly comfortable in finding the right words to carry the mood of each piece. His tone ranges from that of regret over the breakup of a relationship ("Frank's Tune"), to the whimsical amusement of seeing the world fly by him ("Airplane"). At times he sounds almost like a cross between Daniel Johnston and Randy Newman, but with a style that is all his own.
As a bonus, the music is more multilayered and substantial here than on his earlier release. "Living It All Wrong" had some wonderful moments, but "Man In A Jupiter Hat" offers a greater variety of interesting acoustical textures that keep changing from one piece to the next (and sometimes even within a song). Once again, Feldman makes good use of horns and strings on this album, and the additional instrumentation is especially effective on a couple of the slower numbers like the vaguely Celtic "Reluctant Cicada" and the softly stirring "Williamsburg Bridge." His own piano playing is as clear and crisp as ever, and even Feldman's singing comes across as stronger than it did before on LIAW.
There are a few weaknesses worth noting, however. Unfortunately, Feldman still lacks the vocal polish to get around the occasionally awkward turn of phrase. His voice is pretty much limited to what he can do as a tenor, and it is not particularly expressive. Also, he doesn't yet quite have the knack of composing many different and distinctive pop melody hooks, so some of his songs tend to fade into each other if you aren't paying attention to them.
Overall, though, Lee Feldman has produced a finely tuned and graceful record with "Man In A Jupiter Hat." Individually, most of these tracks succeed on their own terms. Listen closely and you can hear a very talented musician developing at a rapid pace. This album represents real progress for an entertainer in a cultural environment that often appears to reward commercial success over artistic creativity. "Man In A Jupiter Hat" may not knock you out, but you will be pleasantly satisfied.

Diezzel Don... The Izzum man returns........2001-06-29
I am from New Jersey and this guy is like my neighbor. Hustler rhymes over fat funked out modern Erik-Sermon sounding beats produced by D-Don and Govmatic. He sounds kind of like Redman delivery wise but not voice-wise. When most of the songs are abour partying, weed, sex and money, he breaks the monotony and rhymes about lesbians wanting his woman and his father who was never there for him. Deeper than most. This grows you. At first, many dismiss it as a typical rap LP and in many ways it is, but it grew on me and I dig it quite a bit. The best song is "Ghetto Red Hot" f/Redman and Govmattic. Some songs are better than others but there are NO wack tracks. Check it out.
Bonafide but nothin Spectacular.......2000-09-29
Straight rap album. This cat is from Newark. He change spots fronm NyC to Atlantic City hustlin. The tracks to listen to is 2,3,4,7,8,12. His rap skills are straight similar to Redman and other New Jersey artists. If you want a hustlin album get it. It rates at a 3.6.
