5 out of 5 stars One Of The Most Entertaining Acts Of The 1990s .......2007-06-07

MC Hammer was by far one of the most popular artists of the 90s. I think that this Greatest Hits Collection is one of my more favorite Cd's because of the fact that MC hammers music was for the most part "family Friendly", and in this day and age, that is very important. I'm in no way knocking the artists of today, and if you prefer gangster music, that's your choice, and this is definitely not the CD for you. However, if you want to buy a decent CD for yourself, or your child/children, then I think this Cd is a good choice to add to your collection. Hammer's lyrics may not have been the best, but he put everything he had into dancing/entertaining his fans, I just hate the way that his career ended, but we all learn lessons in life, some go through worst case situations than Hammer did. The positive side of all of this, is that he appears to be getting his life and priorities in order now, and that's a blessing in it self.

4 out of 5 stars I'm shaking my "Pumps in da But".......2007-04-27

I'm only giving this greatest hits 4 stars instead of 5 because they didn't put Pumps in the But on this set - why, I don't know, but, they missed it on this one. Otherwise, I loved MC Hammer, because, his music was fun and positive, before the gangster rappers took over and made rapping ugly.

5 out of 5 stars I'D STILL RATHER LISTEN TO HAMMER.............2005-12-08

PLEASE make me understand: P Diddy is accepted, but hammer isn't ? An idiot that is proud of being shot 9 times (50 cent) is being idolized by youths, but hammer is ridiculed? Another rapper rapping about "sweat dripping down his ballz" is accepted, but hammer is wack ? Oh my god, when Hammer came out rap was still about fun and partying, not like nowa days where everyone wants to kill each other. I dont get how they can put down Hammer's style, when all Rap bands nowa days have a million people on stage fronting. Everyone used to put Hammer down cause he supposedly sold out and crossed over and all that, but all rap groups now do the same thing. And the only reason why the general public started to dislike him was because a few people in the industry didn't care for him, other than that you know ya'll use to love him...u know u had on your rayon shirts and a your zodiac shoes doing the hammer shuffle at the clubs. Hammer might have not had great lyrics, but at least he had amazing dance skill and entertainment. What do hip hop artist provide now? nothing more than hammer did.

5 out of 5 stars Here Comes The Hammer!.......2005-11-06

It's funny how people could front on MC Hammer since he could outperform any rapper in the game. He always brings the energy on his tracks and he does it in a way that gets people from all walks of life to enjoy it unlike a lot of rappers today that make boring music that offend people, in my opinion he has more heart than all of them. Hip-hop is about peace, unity, and having fun so Hammertime is the epitome of that, I recommend you buy this and all of his albums, one love!

    5 out of 5 stars fun rappers.......2005-05-25

I'll give it 5 stars becouse they are two fun rappers.

Lets get serious there isnt much rap music thats good, its all just a booty drum hype.

Eminem,Outkast,Jay-z,Dr dre and some oldschool rap are the only good rap artists i know of thats cool for real ,all other gangsta rap is only retarded angry people singing to the same drum beat.

Please! bring back the old american music spirit!

    5 out of 5 stars Stella ===> Rocky ===> STEAK.......2004-06-15

    Mmm..Mmm...GOOD!

Rappers don't really get any stars, they get 'shrooms.

5 out of 5 stars Smart concept to put two popular rappers on one CD!.......2004-05-30

When I saw this in 1997, I went "Long overdue!" They are the true reasons why rap albums spent 37 weeks at Number One on the Billboard 200 in 1990 and 1991! They were two different artists to me, even though they wore nearly the same kinds of glittery outfits. MC Hammer's songs concentrated on repetition and addictive hooks, while Vanilla Ice focuses more on his rap style riding over very catchy but daring dance tracks! But there is more an emphasis toward hip-hop than the pop labels given to them. They are surprisingly street too! This album has a lot of energy on most of it--it will have you dancing for days!!!! Along with Run-DMC and other artists before them, they helped rap become huge during the '90s. Even though their later albums never matched their most successful ones, they are still classic artists to me! The last Hammer song weaves very well into the first Ice song on this album. They were two of Capitol-EMI's most successful artists at the time, and it was smart for Capitol-EMI Special Markets to release this. I hope that each of them consider making another album like that and have everybody dancing again. They were really at the top of their games with their music.

5 out of 5 stars Life is worth living... now........2004-03-14

This CD is an amalgam, a confluence if you will, of two radically different artists audio masterpieces. As everyone knows, "rap" music was invented in 1990 by Master of Ceremonies Hammer (or "MC Hammer", as he was known on the streets). The Hammer had tired of the drivel that emanated from the speakers whenever he turned the radio on. Hammer decided it was time, no... "Hammer Time", to make an album of music that would cause no less than a paradigm shift in the world's pop music scene. His Piece d' Resistance, "(yo)U can't touch this", garnered nationwide critical praise. The song was an infusion of street beats and quirky synths, and rife with Hammer's patented brand of bragadoccio and swagger. Perhaps Hammer's most stunning artistic achievement, "Have You Seen Her", is a tender ballad which showcased crisp beats and complex contrapuntal textures. As Hammer is also a high ranking member of Mensa, it surprised no one to hear such insightful and witty lyrics as "The girl is hard to see, like an unseen DJ". But Hammer knows that the formula for Success has a very important variable: God. With the release of "Pray", Hammer lets you know that he doesn't just have a closet full of baggy pants and a trophy case full of music awards... he also has a Bible. Well, as if having a disc full of Hammer's Sonic mastery weren't enough, included are tracks by his Protege, Vanilla Ice. Vanilla Ice began writing music under Hammer's auspices, and soon the student overtook the teacher. Vanilla literally turned the music industry on its head with "Ice Ice Baby", an obvious metaphor for the cold and unrelenting misery that everyone feels as they come to the painful realization that we are truly alone in this world. Vanilla also had impressive production skills, as is evident on his masterpiece "Dancin". The fast, schizophrenic editing and choppy beats have influenced such artists as Aphex Twin and Conway Twitty. Do yourself a favor, and purchase this CD as soon as possible. You will improve your quality of life by tenfold.

    5 out of 5 stars A perfect collaboration.......2004-03-12

MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice is two rap legends, and without them, I don't think that rap music would be such a big deal. "Ice Ice Baby" is fantastic, but "U can't touch this" is the greatest number of them all. It's hard to sit still when you hear it, your feet wants to dance. its a fantastic CD to a fantastic price, and when i saw it, i bought it right away....
